Abstract

This paper discusses the Pattern of Science Communication of the Naqsyabandiyah Kholidiyh Babussalam Order. This tariqa is located in Babussalam Village, which is a village located in North Sumatra, more precisely in the area of Langkat Regency, Padang Tualang District, approximately 5 km from Tanjung Pura City and about 65 km from Medan City. The tariqa village which was founded on the waqf land of Sultan Musa was led directly by Sheikh Abdul Wahab Rokan. This research is basically field research, meaning what is also called qualitative research. The duration of the study was carried out for 6 months. This data collection technique is carried out using interview techniques, observation techniques, and document mining techniques (records or archives).  While the credibility test of data in this study includes extension of observations, increased diligence in research, triangulation, discussion, with peers, negative case analysis, and membercheck. The results of the study illustrate that the leader's Science Communication Pattern is carried out in the first way, interpersonal communication. The pattern of communication is carried out by Tuan Guru face-to-face directly with the congregation. Usually discusses worship practices or personal problems. Second, Group Communication This communication is carried out in studies or tausiyah to pilgrims in groups. Tuan Guru builds the spirituality of the congregation by studying every day after magrhib.

Abstract

The role of parents is a form of obligation and duty that should be carried out by every parent, and where taking each of these roles has an influence on the level of independence of adolescent children for the next life. And the role of parents is not only seen as the foundation of teachers, but can also act as mentors and models for each of their children. In the process carried out by each parent, various problems often arise. Be it in terms of the child's social environment, parents' mistakes in pampering their children, and there are even some parents who have succeeded in forming children's independence so that they become good teenagers in the future. However, it is known that teenagers who commit crimes or delinquencies are generally due to a lack of self-control and actually abuse their way of controlling themselves, and even like to make their own rules without paying attention to the existence of other people around them. And in the Huta I area of Bandar Malela, researchers see and do very rarely, even a small incidence of juvenile delinquency in this village, because parents are smart in educating and supervising every child from childhood to adolescence. And this research aims to describe the role of parents in Huta I Bandar Malela in preventing juvenile delinquency. This research is also descriptive research using a qualitative approach. The subjects of this research were 6 parents who had teenage children aged 14 to 21 years, who lived in Huta I Bandar Malela, Gunung Maligas District, Simalungun Regency. The object of this research includes the role of parents in preventing juvenile delinquency. Data collection was carried out using observation, interview and documentation techniques. The results of this research show that parents in Huta I Bandar Malela have been able to carry out their roles as educators, encouragers, supervisors, communicators and friends of their children so as to avoid juvenile delinquency

Abstract

This study examines the integration of Islamic communication values in the philosophy of Poda Na Lima among the Mandailing ethnic community. In the context of increasing globalization and digital influence, local wisdom plays an important role in preserving ethical and cultural identity. This research aims to analyze how the principles of Poda Na Lima function as a framework for Islamic communication in social, cultural, and spiritual life. This study employs a qualitative approach using library research methods, drawing data from scholarly journals, books, cultural documents, and previous studies related to Islamic communication, Mandailing local wisdom, and Poda Na Lima. The data were analyzed through descriptive-analytical techniques by interpreting the philosophical meanings of Poda Na Lima and their relevance to Islamic communication principles. The findings reveal that the five elements of Poda Na Lima Paias Rohamu, Paias Pamatangmu, Paias Parabitonmu, Paias Bagasmu, and Paias Pakaranganmu represent a holistic ethical system that integrates verbal and nonverbal communication, personal integrity, social harmony, and environmental responsibility. These values correspond closely with Qur’anic teachings on purification, truthful speech, mutual respect, deliberation, and stewardship of the environment. The study concludes that Poda Na Lima serves as a culturally embedded model of Islamic communication that strengthens interpersonal relationships, reinforces social cohesion, and sustains moral values within the Mandailing community in the modern era

Abstract

The rise of cancel culture on social media presents a critical challenge to Islamic digital literacy, particularly concerning the ethical principles of communication. This study investigates the erosion of the tabayyun (verification) principle amidst the normalization of public shaming, using the cancel culture phenomenon surrounding Indonesian public figure Gofar Hilman as a case study. Employing a digital netnography approach and thematic analysis, this research examines netizens' discourse, social media interactions, and digital public opinion mobilizations. The findings reveal that digital communities often bypass the verification process (tabayyun) and the ethical mandate of concealing others' faults (satr al-ʿayb), favoring instant moral judgment and collective delegitimization. While cancel culture operates as a modern mechanism for public accountability, it frequently mutates into digital vigilantism that contradicts Islamic communication ethics. This study contributes to the contemporary discourse on digital religion by providing a theoretical framework that bridges social media phenomena with Islamic ethical norms. Ultimately, the research emphasizes the urgent need to revitalize Islamic digital literacy to navigate the complexities of digital public spheres responsibly.

Abstract

This study examines a comparison of communication theories from Islamic and Western perspectives, with an emphasis on Al-Farabi's thought, particularly in the context of epistemology and ontology in the digital era. Amidst rapid advances in information technology, communication has become a crucial aspect of social and cultural interaction, necessitating an understanding of how each tradition views the communication process. Western communication theory, often rooted in positivist and empirical approaches, emphasizes the technical and functional aspects of communication. In contrast, communication theory in Islam, influenced by spiritual and moral values, emphasizes the importance of intention, ethics, and social context in the communication process. Al-Farabi, as one of the great philosophers who integrated Greek thought with Islamic teachings, made significant contributions to understanding communication as a process that not only involves the exchange of information but also the formation of identity and community. This study uses qualitative analysis methods to explore Al-Farabi's works, including "Al-Madina al-Fadila" and "Risalah Fi al-'Aql," to unearth the epistemological and ontological concepts underlying his communication theory. This research finds that Al-Farabi viewed communication as a bridge connecting the individual with society and God, functioning to achieve happiness and the common good. In the context of the digital era, where information can be spread quickly and widely, Al Farabi's thought offers a relevant perspective for understanding new challenges in communication, such as the spread of fake news and the crisis of trust. The results of this study indicate that although there are fundamental differences between Islamic and Western communication theories, there is potential for them to complement and enrich our understanding of communication in modern society. Thus, this research contributes to the academic discourse on cross cultural communication and provides recommendations for the application of more ethical and sustainable communication values in the digital era. The final results are expected to serve as a reference for academics, practitioners, and policymakers in formulating more effective and value-based communication strategies.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis secara mendalam integrasi nilai-nilai Islam dalam teori komunikasi modern dengan menyoroti bagaimana prinsip-prinsip dakwah dan etika Qur’ani dapat memperkaya kerangka komunikasi kontemporer. Berbeda dengan teori komunikasi Barat yang cenderung menitikberatkan aspek mekanistik, psikologis, atau konstruksionis, konsep komunikasi Islam menawarkan pendekatan transendental yang memadukan dimensi spiritual, moral, dan sosial. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kepustakaan (library research) dengan pendekatan analisis kualitatif deskriptif terhadap literatur klasik, kontemporer, dan teori komunikasi modern. Prinsip seperti qaulan sadīdan (komunikasi yang benar), qaulan layyinan (lembut), qaulan karīman (mulia), dan qaulan balīghan (membekas) memberikan pedoman komprehensif yang tidak hanya mengatur isi pesan, tetapi juga karakter komunikator, metode penyampaian, dan pertanggungjawaban etisnya. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa nilai-nilai profetik seperti ṣidq, amānah, tablīg, dan faṭānah membentuk paradigma komunikasi yang holistik dan berorientasi pada kemaslahatan. Integrasi ini semakin relevan di era digital yang diwarnai misinformasi, polarisasi, dan degradasi etika komunikasi. Temuan makalah ini menegaskan bahwa etika komunikasi Islam tidak hanya relevan sebagai nilai moral, tetapi juga sebagai solusi metodologis dan epistemologis dalam membangun ekosistem komunikasi yang humanis, inklusif, dan berkeadaban.

Abstract

Kajian teoritis ini menganalisis peran komunikasi sebagai instrumen aktif dan konstitutif dalam pembentukan struktur dan budaya organisasi. Berdasarkan perspektif teoritis organisasi klasik hingga interpretatif, penelitian ini berargumen bahwa komunikasi tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai saluran penyampai pesan, tetapi merupakan proses inti yang secara dialektis membentuk sekaligus mereproduksi realitas organisasi. Dalam konteks struktur organisasi, komunikasi berperan sebagai mekanisme koordinasi, kontrol, dan pengambilan keputusan yang menghidupkan kerangka formal. Pola komunikasi (baik formal maupun informal) secara aktual menentukan efisiensi hierarki, keluwesan jaringan kerja, dan distribusi kekuasaan, sehingga menciptakan struktur operasional di lapangan. Sementara dalam pembentukan budaya organisasi, komunikasi berfungsi sebagai medium penciptaan makna, penyebaran nilai-nilai, serta sosialisasi norma. Melalui narasi, simbol, dan ritual yang dikomunikasikan, identitas kolektif dibangun dan dipertahankan, sekaligus menjadi sarana potensial untuk perubahan budaya. Hubungan ketiganya bersifat dialektis: struktur membentuk pola komunikasi, pola komunikasi membangun dan memperkuat budaya, dan budaya yang terbentuk kemudian melegitimasi atau menantang struktur yang ada. Implikasinya, pemahaman holistik terhadap organisasi harus menempatkan manajemen komunikasi strategis sebagai elemen fundamental, bukan sekadar fungsi pendukung, untuk mencapai efektivitas dan adaptabilitas organisasi.

Abstract

This study aims to explain B. Aubrey Fisher's perspective on communication theory as a dynamic conceptual process. It analyzes the key concepts in his theory, particularly those related to meaning formation, and examines their relevance and application in understanding contemporary communication phenomena. The study employed a qualitative approach using library research. Data were obtained from Fisher's key works, as well as relevant communication theory literature and recent research. Data analysis was conducted through qualitative content analysis with an interpretive and contextual approach. The results indicate that Fisher's communication theory places meaning at the core of the communication process, which is inherently non-final, dynamic, and contextual. Meaning is understood as the result of conceptualizing raw experience through language and symbols, so differences in interpretation and the potential for misunderstanding are inherent parts of communication. Furthermore, Fisher's theory has proven relevant in explaining contemporary communication phenomena, particularly in the context of digital communication, the polarization of meaning, and active audience participation. Thus, B. Aubrey Fisher's communication theory provides a significant theoretical contribution to enriching modern communication studies that focus on process, meaning, and social context

Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the digital era has significantly transformed various fields, including religious communication and the production of da’wah messages. AI technologies such as automated content generation, algorithmic curation, chatbots, voice synthesis, and visual media have enabled da’wah activities to become more efficient, interactive, and far-reaching. However, the increasing use of AI in religious contexts also raises ethical concerns related to the authenticity of religious messages, scholarly authority, moral responsibility, and the potential distortion of Islamic teachings. This study aims to examine the use of AI in the production of religious messages from the perspective of Islamic communication ethics. Employing a qualitative descriptive library research method, this study analyzes primary and secondary sources, including the academic books, and reputable scholarly journals. The data were examined using content analysis and normative-interpretative approaches, focusing on Islamic communication principles such as qaulan sadīdan, qaulan balīghan, qaulan karīman, qaulan ma‘rūfan, qaulan layyinan, and qaulan maisūran. The findings indicate that AI can serve as an effective supporting tool for da’wah when guided by Islamic ethical values and human supervision. However, without proper ethical control, AI-based da’wah risks compromising the integrity, credibility, and spiritual essence of Islamic communication. This study contributes to the development of ethical frameworks for da’wah practices in the era of intelligent technology

Abstract

This article discusses the process of internalizing Islamic communication ethics in shaping wise social media behavior among Instagram users, a platform that has now become a digital public space with complex interaction dynamics. In the context of the increasing spread of unverified information, hate speech, and the often-dominant culture of showing off, Islamic communication ethics is seen as a normative foundation capable of guiding more responsible and civilized social media behavior. This research uses a qualitative approach with a library study method, reviewing various literature on the principles of Islamic communication ethics such as honesty, caution, tabayyun (reconciliation), maintaining the honor of oneself and others, and avoiding gossip and slander. The analysis is conducted by examining how these values ​​can be implemented in everyday communication practices on Instagram. The study's findings indicate that internalizing Islamic communication ethics can foster more constructive interaction patterns, encouraging users to verify information before sharing, avoid negative comments, and practice polite language. The discussion reveals that transforming user behavior depends not only on an understanding of ethical values, but also on self-awareness, personal control, and a supportive digital environment. This internalization plays a crucial role in building a more humanistic and welfare-oriented social media culture. In conclusion, the application of Islamic communication ethics has proven relevant and effective in shaping the wise behavior of Instagram users. These ethical values ​​can serve as moral guidelines for facing the challenges of modern digital communication, while also strengthening positive character traits in online interactions.
