Abstract

Abstract: The massive discussion about Torah law in the Old Testament often impacts misinterpreting the Old Testament as Torah religion. This concept continues with the error in understanding salvation which is thought to be based on obedience to the Torah law. This article was created to refute this issue because the concept of salvation in the OT and NT is the same, namely based on God's grace. Therefore, it is necessary to review the relationship between Torah law and grace in the Old Testament. This research uses qualitative methods with a literature study. The author reviews several related literature to explain this concept precisely and biblically. The result obtained is that the Torah is a guide for God's people towards the perfection of salvation in Christ, while grace is the basis for the salvation of God's people. Torah law is implemented as an effort for humans to know God, while grace is given as an effort for God to introduce Himself to humanity. So, the law was passed in response to God's grace that had been poured out for His people.

Abstract

Abstract: This article aims to examine and construct a digital ethical foundation for God’s servants through a contextual interpretation of Ephesians 5:15–16. In today’s fast-paced digital environment, many ministers become entangled in the misuse of social media, hate speech, and self-promotion, damaging their spiritual credibility and the church’s witness. Using a descriptive qualitative method grounded in literature analysis, this study interprets the biblical text within its historical-theological context and connects it with contemporary digital realities. The findings highlight three key ethical principles: living wisely, managing time carefully, and maintaining moral awareness in an evil age. The novelty of this study lies in its contextual application specifically for God’s servants, contrasting with previous studies that addressed Christian ethics more generally. The theological implication is that the digital realm must be viewed as a sacred space for ministry, demanding ethical responsibility and spiritual discernment. Ministers are called to be digitally present in a way that reflects Christ’s character and advances His mission in the digital age.

Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of religious-based violence in radicalism content on social media, especially the YouTube platform throughout 2023-2024. This article uses qualitative research with a library approach as a data collection technique that will analyze YouTube content related to religious violence in radicalism content and is supported by reference sources, namely journals, books, Google Scholar, and Semantic Scholar. The rise of content with extreme religious narratives raises concerns about the potential for conflict and social polarization. Through in-depth analysis, this study found that religion should be understood as a social system that contains collective values, where the concept of the Kingdom of God is the basis that emphasizes love and peace. This serves to distinguish between true religious teachings and deviant interpretations that can be used to justify violence. This finding also underlines the importance of viewing religion as a tool for peace that can encourage dialogue and mutual understanding between religious communities, not as a source of violence or conflict. This study emphasizes that implementing a comprehensive understanding of religion in modern public spaces, such as social media, is an important step to reduce the spread of radicalism. It is hoped that this effort can build collective awareness of the importance of prioritizing universal and peaceful religious values, so that society can work together to create a public space that is safe, harmonious, and free from the threat of religious-based violence.

Abstract

Abstract:The learning of spirituality in Christian Religious Education (CRE) is often trapped in cognitive-informative patterns without regard to relational and contextual depth. This article responds to the need for a more integrative and applicable Christian learning practice by exploring the Shema of Israel (Deut. 6:4-9) as a conceptual basis. The formulation of the problem raised is: how can the principles of spirituality learning in Shema Israel be constructed as a contextualised CRE learning practice? The purpose of this research is to construct Biblical text-based spirituality learning using a hermeneutic method through a theo-pedagogical approach for contextual Christian education. This research uses a literature study method by putting the theoretical concept on the theory of faith growth from John H. Westerhoff III. The research found four dimensions of religious learning from the Shema of Israel, namely relational, repetitive, visual, and rhythmic. These four dimensions can be implemented in contextual CRE through intergenerational practices, sustainable pedagogy, visualisation of learning design and integration of faith in the context of life. This research recommends learning practices that build relationships, are continuously repeated, visualised and embedded in the rhythm of daily life as a living and meaningful expression of faith.

Abstract

The cross is the main symbol often used by Christians and is widely known by non-Christian communities. The cross is usually interpreted as a symbol of the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus to redeem humans from sins. Uniquely, this symbol appears in the traditional cloth of the Kalumpang tribe. This research aims to explore the meaning of these symbols on the Sekomandi woven cloth typical of the Kalumpang people. The method used is a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach. Researchers observed the location, conducted in-depth interviews with several traditional and religious leaders there. The findings obtained are that the meaning of the cross for the people of Kalumpang symbolizes group identity and appreciation for the servants of God who have served in their village. The values raised are sacrifice, appreciation and hope for the prosperity of the village in the future. So, the cross is interpreted more sociologically, historically and economically than Christologically.
