Abstract

Introduction & Aim: Physical changes in the elderly include the musculoskeletal system, where there is a decrease in the production of synovial fluid as a joint lubricant causing impaired joint movement. Joint disorders are characterized by symptoms of joint stiffness or pain when moving. So far, activities at the elderly integrated service post (posyandu) include promotive and preventive activities. Still, the material presented has not shown any screening or early detection of joint stiffness due to osteoarthritis, even though many elderly people complain of joint stiffness and pain. Therefore, the purpose of this community service activity is to make the elderly remain active independently (LAMAR) to detect early symptoms of osteoarthritis using a goniometer. Method of Activity: This community service activity was carried out in February 2023 in the RW 7 area, Kapasan Village, Simokerto District, Surabaya City. The activity begins with an initial assessment of the elderly who are members of the elderly posyandu in the area. The activities carried out included the initial socialization of the LAMAR program, implementation of counseling, conducting early detection demonstrations, and program evaluation. The results of the screening were then processed using computer software. Results: The knowledge of the elderly after being given counseling on the Independent Active Elderly program through the media of booklets, power points, and goniometer teaching aids has been shown to increase where the statistical test results were p = 0.002 (α≤0.05) from 48% of respondents with sufficient and insufficient knowledge to 100% with a good level of knowledge. Discussion: The LAMAR (Independent Active Elderly) program will make the elderly productive, namely the elderly who are physically, mentally, and socially healthy. This can increase awareness/attention to the elderly in early detection of joint stiffness. The goniometer is used to measure and record the amount of joint movement actively or passively.

Introduction & Aims: According to WHO, there are 65.6 million elderly people throughout the world who experience impaired cognitive function. The impact of cognitive disorders in the elderly causes a shift in the role of the elderly in social interactions in society and within the family, followed by a decrease in physical and mental activity, impaired social function, and a decrease in quality of life. East Java is in second place with the highest dementia rate with a dementia prevalence of 10.40% and increasing with each passing year. Based on preliminary data in the RW 07 area, Kapasan, Simokerto District, the risk of cognitive impairment in the elderly is in fourth place with a percentage of 20%. So it is important to intervene regarding the risk of cognitive impairment in the elderly. The aim of this activity was to stimulate the cognitive abilities of the elderly through MOKA Games. Method of Activity: Community service activities were carried out in the RW.07 area, Kapasan, Simokerto District, Surabaya City, in February 2024. Implementation of this activity included opening, filling out the pre-test, explaining the material using leaflets, MOKA (Cognitive Monitoring of the Elderly) demonstration. Games, discussions, and post-test completion. MOKA Games is a game innovation based on the MMSE instrument, equipped with a guidebook containing a game monitoring table, each player has a monitoring table containing the score for each question. Result: There was an increase in audience knowledge as shown by an increase in the percentage of knowledge from pre-test to post-test, apart from that respondents were able to carry out a MOKA Games simulation with the direction of elderly cadres. Discussion: Cognitive stimulation activities for the elderly through MOKA Games received a positive response and good enthusiasm from the audience, with MOKA Games we can find out the condition of cognitive abilities and stimulate the elderly.

Abstract

Introduction & Aim: Children spend most of their time at school. To meet their daily nutritional needs that run out during school hours, many children buy school snacks. School snacks are sold in various shapes, colors, flavors and sizes to attract children to buy them. If school snack producers reduce prices, chemicals are chosen as a substitute. Knowledge in choosing snacks at school is necessary so that children do not get sick later on. Method of Activity: this activity is carried out by providing education about daily intake, nutrients, and choosing good and correct foods. Results: this activity was carried out at SDN Ploso V/176, Surabaya. Education was provided with the help of powerpoint, games, and leaflets on the lid of the lunch box. After being educated, the children's level of knowledge increased Discussion: nutritional intake in school children is a mandatory thing that must be met. The easiest behavior in meeting children's nutrition is breakfast. Breakfast is given before children do activities. While at school, children can be given snacks as additional intake so that children can concentrate and maintain physical activity at school. The role of parents and teachers is very important in introducing and getting children used to maintaining intake and choosing good and correct school snacks.

Activities were carried out for 6 weeks which included, assessment (surveys and interviews), and implementation of interventions related to stunting prevention behavior with balanced nutrition education and physical exercise of dysmenorrhea. Results: Stunting prevention behavior in adolescents increased before and after the activity with high knowledge 88.8%, positive attitude 81.5% and good skills 44.4% Discussion: The health promotion program designed should focus on educational interventions involving games and group discussions, so as to encourage active participation and increase understanding of the importance of stunting prevention behaviors.
