Abstract

The results showed thalt there were 5 types of malngroves nalmely Alvilcennilal malrilnal, Nyfal frutilcalns, Rhilzophoral alpilculaltal, Rhilzophoral mucronaltal, alnd Sonneraltilal allbal. The results showed thalt the speciles dilversilty alt the study silte wals low to moderalte, alnd the speciles unilformilty alt the study silte wals low to hilgh.

Abstract

Kampung Suaran Pond is one of the areas that will implement the SECURE pond concept. This pond concept can help increase pond productivity in a sustainable manner. Increased productivity in ponds is highly dependent on phytoplankton abundance and water quality. The purpose of this study was to determine the abundance of phytoplankton before becoming a secure pond and the relationship of phytoplankton abundance with nitrate and phosphate content. This research was conducted from January to May 2023. The sampling method was based on purposive sampling, adjusting the representative pond category according to the SECURE program monitoring. The results showed the abundance of phytoplankton in surface and bottom waters averaged 280 ind/L–760 ind/L. The number of phytoplankton identified consisted of 17 species and 3 classes, namely Bacillariophyceae (76,5%), Cyanophyceae (5,9%), and Dinophyceae (17,6%). The lowest nitrate concentration was found at point II at 0.066 mg/L and the highest at point I at 0,641 mg/L. The lowest phosphate concentration was at point II of 0,120 mg/L, and the highest was at point I of 0,438 mg/L. In ponds in Suaran village, there is a relationship between phytoplankton abundance with nitrate (r = 0,817) and phosphate (r = 0,893) in the surface and bottom waters of the pond, which shows a strong relationship.

Abstract

Sampah merupakan salah satu permasalahan umum yang dihadapi oleh masyarakat di wilayah pesisir. Salah satu wilayah yang memiliki permasalahan sampah adalah pantai wisata Tanah Merah, Samboja, Kabupaten Kutai Kartanegara. Kurangnya tempat sampah dan pemahaman para pengunjung dan pedagang mengakibatkan banyak sampah berserakan di sekitar pantai. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah pengadaan tempat sampah berbasarkan kategori dan sosialisasi pilah sampah terhadap para pedagang dan pengunjung di Pantai Wisata Tanah Merah Samboja, Kalimantan Timur. Kegiatan ini dilakukan melalui tahap persiapan, survei awal, sosialisasi dan pengadaan tempat sampah. Secara umum, kegiatan sosialisasi penanganan sampah di pantai Tanah Merah, Samboja berjalan dengan baik dan lancar. Tempat sampah dibuat berdasarkan kategori yang terdiri dari kategori sampah organik berwarna hijau, kategori sampah anorganik berwarna kuning dan kategori sampah B3 (limbah bahan berbahaya dan beracun) berwarna merah. Total 18 tempat sampah tersebut diletakkan di beberapa titik seperti depan warung, toilet, gazebo, dan pantai. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman para pedagang dan pengunjung dalam memanfaatkan tempat sampah berdasarkan kategori. Sampah yang sudah dipilah berdasarka kategori tersebut memudahkan petugas kebersihan untuk membawah dan melanjutkan proses pengolahan sampah di pembuangan akhir. Dengan kegiatan ini, diharapkan para pedangan dan pengunjung terbiasa untuk melakukan pilah sampah untuk meningkatkan kebersihan pantai yang bersih dan nyaman bagi para pengunjung di pantai wisata Tanah Merah. Waste is one of the common problems faced by communities in coastal areas. The Tanah Merah tourist beach in Samboja, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, has a garbage problem. The lack of trash cans and tourists' and traders' awareness has resulted in a lot of trash strewn across the beach. The goal of this community service project is to supply trash cans that correspond to category and to socialize waste sorting with traders and visitors at Tanah Merah Samboja Tourist Beach in East Kalimantan. This activity is carried out in stages, including planning, first survey, socializing, and waste bin providing. In summary, the waste-handling socialization activities at Tanah Merah Beach in Samboja went successfully and smoothly. Trash cans are divided into three categories: green organic garbage, yellow inorganic waste, and red B3 rubbish. A total of 18 trash cans were placed at various locations, including in front of the shop, toilet, gazebo, and beach. Community service activities demonstrate an increase in traders' and tourists' comprehension of how to use garbage cans based on categories. Waste that has been categorized makes it easier for cleaning officers to manage and continue the waste processing process at final disposal. With this activity, it is intended that traders and visitors would become accustomed to sorting trash in order to improve the cleanliness of Tanah Merah's beaches, which are clean and comfortable for guests.

Abstract

Education is one indicator of a country's progress, because it has improved the quality of human resources. One of the Educational activities in the university is joint practicums to improve students' understanding of critical thinking patterns and values. The purpose of this practicum was to examine and analyze the ability of essential patterns of thinking, level of understanding of theory and method, and student learning outcomes as well in the study programme of Marine Science, Mulawarman University. Practicum activities were conducted in Malahing village, Bontang City in November 2022. A total of 52 students took part in the activities. All data in this activity were collected from initial critical thinking skills tests (pre-test) and after (post-test), score from practicum’s report, and participants' perceptual responses in the form of online questionnaires. It was found that the student's critical thinking skills in this activity were in the moderate category based on N-Gains score (0,46). In General, the percentage of understanding and student learning outcomes was in good category (71-84). Based on the student responses, about 92.3% of students were enthusiastic and happy with the practicum learning method. Thus, joint practicum activities might influence increasing student understanding and grades.

Abstract

Fitoplankton merupakan organisme pertama yang terpengaruh oleh perubahan di perairan karena sangat sensitif terhadap perubahan lingkungan seperti pencemaran. Pencemaran air dan peningkatan nutrien dari limbah tambak dapat memengaruhi pertumbuhan fitoplankton, yang berdampak pada kualitas air. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan kelimpahan fitoplankton dengan ketersediaan nutrien di dalam tambak, dan memprediksi jumlah fitoplankton per kelas terhadap peningkatan nutrien menggunakan pendekatan Generalized Poisson Regression (GPR). Data dikumpulkan pada bulan Januari-Februari 2023 di Tambak Kampung Pegat Batumbuk, Berau pada tiga lokasi penelitian yaitu tambak terbengkalai, tambak tradisional dan perairan mangrove, masing-masing lokasi terdiri dari tiga stasiun penelitian. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan Rstudio versi 2023.2.1 dengan paket VGAM, car, ggplot2, dan MASS. Hasil GPR menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi nitrat secara signifikan berkorelasi positif dengan peningkatan kelimpahan fitoplankton, terutama pada kelas Bacillariophyceae. Kenaikan konsentrasi nitrat sebesar 1 mg/L diperkirakan akan meningkatkan kelimpahan Bacillariophyceae sebesar 4,58 atau setara dengan 97.154 sel/L di tambak terbengkalai, 2,41 atau setara dengan 1.114 sel/L di tambak tradisional, dan 5,59 atau setara dengan 267.896 sel/L di perairan mangrove. Studi ini mengindikasikan bahwa nitrat merupakan nutrien pembatas utama pertumbuhan fitoplankton di perairan tambak Pegat Batumbuk, Berau. Hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi rujukan dalam pengelolaan tambak yang berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Tourism, including environmental tourism, has become one of Indonesia's second-greatest foreign exchange contributors after petroleum and natural gas. The potential for Mangrove tourism is growing due to the ecotourism philosophy, which stresses nature conservation and local communities, particularly coastal areas. The solution to the issue of developing tourism activities in conservation areas is ecotourism. There is a Mangrove Forest ecotourism area called "Lati Tuo" in Klempang Sari Village, Kuaro District, Paser Regency, however, its management is not yet optimal. This activity intends to improve the management of "Lati Tuo" Mangrove ecotourism by developing supporting infrastructure at ecotourism sites. All activities involved teams from the village, Mulawarman University students, ecotourism managers, and the community around the location. The actions carried out include preparation, problem identification, planning, implementation, and assessment. Activities carried out at the "Lati Tuo" mangrove ecotourism site, Klempang Sari Village. This time, ecotourism management optimization operations are more focused on building several supporting facilities for visitor comfort, because tourist comfort is one of the variables that might influence tourists' decisions to visit a tourist site. Making chairs at each corner of the bridge and creating warning signs are among the activities that have taken place. Aside from that, there was the creation of gazebo name boards, the creation of Latin name plates for plants in the mangrove forest "Lati Tuo," and the creation of "Lati Tuo" Love Padlocks. The development of supporting facilities at the "Lati Tuo" mangrove ecotourism site was completed smoothly. The support of all stakeholders, including the village officials, ecotourism management, and the Klempang Sari Village Community, is critical to the success of this activity.

Abstract

Spesies hiu merupakan jenis yang sangat rentan, dengan populasi yang menurun tajam dan beberapa spesies berpotensi menghadapi ancaman kepunahan. Dalam pengelolaan perikanan khususnya hiu,  selain faktor biologis, faktor ekonomi juga menjadi pertimbangan sehingga nelayan dapat memperoleh keuntungan secara maksimal dan berkelanjutan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tingkat pengelolaan optimal dan rente ekonomi yang optimal pada sumber daya perikanan hiu di Balikpapan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan mengumpulkan data primer dan sekunder. Metode analisis bioekonomi statik dan dinamik diterapkan dengan menggunakan model surplus produksi Fox untuk mengestimasi parameter biologi pada sumber daya perikanan hiu. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengelolaan sumber daya hiu di Balikpapan telah terjadi overfishing baik dari segi biologi maupun ekonomi. Melalui pendekatan optimasi dinamik dengan discount rate 6.3%, jumlah effort yang diperbolehkan sebanyak 76 trip, hasil tangkapan maksimal sebesar 112.99 ton, biomassa sebesar 547.78 ton, dan nilai rente ekonomi sebesar Rp. 25,5 miliar dapat mencapai pengelolaan sumber daya hiu yang optimal dan lestari. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, effort penangkapan hiu sudah mencapai optimal sehingga diperlukan pengaturan jumlah upaya tangkap (effort) agar kelestarian sumberdaya hiu dapat berkelanjutan.
