Abstract

Effective communication is an important factor in achieving organizational success. Challenges on organizational communication arise from a lack of full presence, snap judgments, and uncontrolled emotions. This research aims to explore the influence of mindfulness in increasing the effectiveness of organizational communication. The research method used is quantitative research with a survey approach. The respondents in this research were members of the Buddhayana youth organization, East Lampung Regency. The population of this study was 212, with a sample of 138, obtained using the Proportional Random Sampling technique. The research instrument used was a questionnaire consisting of a communication effectiveness measurement scale and a mindfulness level measurement scale. The results of simple regression analysis show that 41.9% of mindfulness has a significant positive effect on increasing communication effectiveness in the Buddhayana Youth organization, and the remaining 58.1% is influenced by other factors. The results of this research illustrate that mindfulness has an important influence in increasing the effectiveness of organizational communication. Respondents who have a higher level of mindfulness tend to have a higher level of communication effectiveness as well. ABSTRAKKomunikasi yang efektif merupakan faktor penting dalam mencapai kesuksesan organisasi. Tantangan dalam komunikasi organisasi muncul akibat kurangnya kehadiran penuh, penilaian yang cepat, dan emosi yang tidak terkendali. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi pengaruh mindfulness dalam meningkatkan efektivitas komunikasi organisasi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan pendekatan survei. Responden dalam penelitian ini adalah anggota organisasi pemuda Buddhayana Kabupaten Lampung Timur. Populasi penelitian ini berjumlah 212 dengan sampel sebesar 138, diperoleh dengan teknik pengambilan sampel Proportional Random Sampling. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuesioner yang terdiri dari skala pengukuran efektivitas komunikasi dan skala pengukuran tingkat mindfulness. Hasil análisis regresi sederhana menunjukkan nilai sebesar 41,9% mindfulness berpengaruh positif yang signifikan terhadap peningkatan efektivitas komunikasi pada organisasi Pemuda Buddhayana, dan sisanya 58,1% dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain. Hasil penelitian ini menggambarkan bahwa mindfulness memiliki pengaruh penting dalam meningkatkan efektivitas komunikasi organisasi. Responden yang memiliki tingkat mindfulness yang lebih tinggi cenderung memiliki tingkat efektivitas komunikasi yang lebih tinggi pula.

Abstract

The training "Building Self-Confidence and Effective Communication in Buddhayana Youth" in Liwa, West Lampung, is a significant effort in equipping Buddhayana youth with essential skills to overcome the challenges of modern life. By inviting 12 youth participants, this training succeeded in providing in-depth insight into Buddhist teachings and strategies for building self-confidence. Activity evaluation shows active participant participation and their ability to apply training concepts in everyday life. A theoretical foundation that includes building solid self-confidence and applying Buddhist values ??in every aspect of life, with the hope that this training will shape Buddhayana youth into individuals who are strong, empowered, and able to make positive contributions in advancing Buddhist values ??in modern society ABSTRAKPelatihan "Membangun Kepercayaan Diri dan Komunikasi Efektif pada Pemuda Buddhayana" di Liwa, Lampung Barat, merupakanan upaya signifikan dalam membekali pemuda Buddhayana dengan keterampilan yang esensial untuk mengatasi tantangan kehidupan modern. Dengan menghadirkan peserta pemuda, pelatihan ini berhasil memberikan wawasan mendalam tentang ajaran Buddhis dan strategi pembangunan kepercayaan diri. Evaluasi kegiatan menunjukkan partisipasi aktif peserta dan kemampuan mereka mengaplikasikan konsep-konsep pelatihan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Landasan teoritis yang disampaikan mencakup pembangunan kepercayaan diri yang kokoh dan penerapan nilai-nilai Buddhis dalam setiap aspek kehidupan, dengan harapan pelatihan ini akan membentuk pemuda Buddhayana menjadi individu yang kuat, berdaya, dan mampu berkontribusi positif dalam memajukan nilai-nilai Buddhis di tengah masyarakat modern.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of correct speech (Sammā Vācā) a key principle in Buddhist ethics on the communication behavior of Buddhist students in Lampung. Using a quantitative approach with a survey method, data were collected from 98 Buddhist students who actively use social media. A structured questionnaire based on a Likert scale was used and analyzed through relevant statistical tests, including validity, reliability, and simple linear regression. The findings show that correct speech significantly influences communication ethics, with a determination coefficient of 0.532, indicating that 53.2% of students’ communication ethics are affected by their understanding of Sammā Vācā. These results highlight the importance of integrating Buddhist moral teachings into digital literacy education to foster respectful and ethical online communication aligned with Dhamma values.

Abstract

This research examines the role of social media on the self-identity development of university students in the digital era. Using a descriptive qualitative method, this research investigates how social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Twitter and Facebook shape students’ self-expression and identity construction. Data was gathered through in-depth interviews and a comprehensive literature review. The research reveals that social media provides a space for university students to experiment with self-identity outside of traditional social norms. However, it also poses challenges, such as social pressure and a potential gap between digital and real identities. Key findings suggest that social media can have both positive and negative impacts on students' identity formation. On the one hand, social media enables the development of self-confidence; on the other hand, it can cause social anxiety due to constant comparison with others. The research highlights the importance of wise use of social media in the context of identity formation, taking into account the psychological and social impacts that may arise.

Abstract

This research analyzes the impact of Buddhayana youth involvement in social activities on character and leadership development. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a case study in East Lampung Regency. The research results show that youth involvement in social activities contributes positively to character development such as empathy, responsibility, and caring, as well as leadership through effective communication, decision making, and time management. Social involvement also expands networks and builds positive relationships with the community. The implication is to support youth involvement in social activities for character development and responsible leadership. Future research could involve Buddhayana youth from other regions for a more comprehensive understanding

Abstract

This research aims to analyze how intrapersonal communication plays a role in increasing students' emotional intelligence. Intrapersonal communication, which involves internal dialogue and understanding oneself, is considered an important element in the development of emotional intelligence. This research uses a qualitative research approach with a case study method carried out by conducting interviews and involving students at a private university. Data was collected through in-depth interviews which were used to collect data from informants selected purposively, namely students from 3 study programs at this private university, observations were also carried out to obtain information regarding communication carried out and interactions between students, and questionnaires to collect data and analyze complex phenomena in appropriate contexts. The research results show that students who have good intrapersonal communication skills tend to have higher emotional intelligence, which is reflected in their ability to manage emotions, empathize, and build positive intrapersonal relationships.

Abstract

Tujuan Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini untuk meningkatkan kompetensi pandita agama Buddha di Kabupaten Mesuji melalui pelatihan public speaking. Sehingga aktivitas pelayanan, ceramah dhamma kepada umat dapat dilakukan dengan baik dan sesuai dengan tujuan yang akan disampaikan. Pelaksanaan pengabdian dilakukan dengan metode ceramah, diskusi dan praktik berkaitan dengan public Speaking. Materi pelatihan yang diberikan meliputi Teknik public speaking kemudian tips berbicara didepan umum serta praktek berbicara didepan umum. Kegiatan ini sangat bermanfaat bagi para pandita Buddha yang ada di Kabupaten Mesuji.
