Abstract

This study aims to describe the influence analysis of students' mindful communication abilities on the spiritual intelligence of Triratna High School students in West Jakarta. Mindful communication ability is the communication ability that is adequately conveyed by being aware of aspects of language and communication ethics. Character is formed due to an understanding of the three relationships that every human being must experience. Spiritual intelligence is the foundation for intellectual and emotional intelligence to function effectively. This study used a descriptive approach and a quantitative regression method using two instruments to measure mindful communication's effect on students' mental intelligence at Triratna school, West Jakarta. The results of this study indicate that there is a positive relationship between mindful communication and cognitive intelligence. The results of this study contain implications that mindful communication has an essential role for students.

Abstract

This study aims to discover the relationship between extrovert students' and their writing ability at the university level. The study was conducted from March to April 2023 at the Jinarakkhita Buddhist College Bandar Lampung. The population of the research was the second-semester Buddhist Education Department students in the academic year 2022-2023. The researchers used a rubric score to analyze and measure the students' recount text writing ability before and after treatment. The data were collected by administering essay writing pre-tests and post-tests. The data were collected from a writing test used to assess students' writing abilities, and a series of analyses were performed, beginning with examining the reliability of the questionnaire and the association between the score and students' personalities. The result showed increased pre-test and post-test average scores from 49.9 to 65.1. In addition, this study found that second-semester students' writing abilities have improved due to the use of communication skill-based writing instruction (CSBWI) to promote extrovert students' as they are more expressive in conducting ideas.

Abstract

This study examined the effect of communication skill-based writing instruction on the student writing ability. The researcher used a pretest-posttest experimental group design. The research was conducted from April to May 2023 in the Jinarakkhita Buddhist College Bandar Lampung. The researchers used the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 25 program to analyze the data. A rubric score was used to analyze and measure the students' narrative text writing ability before and after treatment. The student's writing ability improved from 49.9 to 65.1. In addition, the researcher found that students who previously struggled to write now have a growing understanding of how to gather information and confidently use CSBWI in their writing. Therefore, it is critical to use a suitable and effective method to assist students in overcoming the difficulty of their writing achievement.

Abstract

The purposes of this study is to investigate the difference of the students’ written communication autonomy after the implementation of scaffolding strategy. The sample is twenty students of the first-year semester of the undergraduate students of the Buddhist Communication Science Department in Jinarakkhita Buddhist College of Lampung. This research is quantitative by using one group pre-test posttest design. The instruments are writing test, questionnaire and interview. The result of data analysis shows that scaffolding strategy can further promote the students’ autonomy in written communication significantly. The result of the questionnaire shows that the students give the positive response towards applying scaffolding strategy in writing class. The conclusion of this present study, after the students are given scaffolding strategy, along with the improvement in written communication ability, the students’ autonomy in writing improves significantly.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the influence of self-concept on the quality of interpersonal communication of Jinarakkhita Buddhist Collage of Lampung students. Self-concept is an important factor in understanding how a person interacts with other people. The quality of interpersonal communication also has a key role in establishing healthy and productive relationships in various life contexts. This research uses a survey method by collecting data through questionnaires distributed to Jinarakkhita Buddhist Collage of Lampung students. The questionnaire measures students' self-concept and quality of interpersonal communication. The collected data is then analyzed using appropriate statistical techniques. The results of this research indicate that there is a significant influence between self-concept and the quality of interpersonal communication of Jinarakkhita Buddhist Collage of Lampung students. These results indicate that students who have a positive self-concept tend to have better interpersonal communication quality. This indicates the importance of developing self-concept in the context of higher education to improve the quality of social interaction and interpersonal communication. This research can be a basis for educational institutions to consider programs that can help students develop a more positive self-concept, so that they can become more effective individuals in communicating and establishing healthy interpersonal relationships in the campus environment and outside the campus.

Abstract

The study aims to explore the influence of digital literacy on information-seeking behavior among students of STIAB Jinarakkhita. Digital literacy is considered a key factor that affects students' ability to access, evaluate, and utilize information found online. The study uses quantitative methods involving students. Through surveys and statistical analysis, the study assessed students' level of digital literacy and identified patterns of their information-seeking behavior. Variables such as technical skills, critical evaluation of information sources, and frequency of use of digital platforms were analyzed to understand to what extent digital literature contributed to the effectiveness in the search for information. The research results are expected to provide a deeper insight into how digital literacy affects student information-seeking behavior. The implications of this research involve a better understanding of students' digital literacy needs, which can help develop more focused learning strategies and programmes in a higher education environment. Thus, this research can contribute to a practical and theoretical understanding of the importance of digital literacy in improving the quality of student information searches in the digital age. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi pengaruh literasi digital terhadap perilaku pencarian informasi di kalangan mahasiswa STIAB Jinarakkhita. Literasi digital dianggap sebagai faktor kunci yang mempengaruhi kemampuan mahasiswa dalam mengakses, mengevaluasi, dan memanfaatkan informasi yang ditemukan secara daring. Studi ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan melibatkan mahasiswa. Melalui survei dan analisis statistik, penelitian ini menilai tingkat literasi digital mahasiswa dan mengidentifikasi pola perilaku pencarian informasi mereka. Variabel-variabel seperti keterampilan teknis, evaluasi kritis terhadap sumber informasi, dan frekuensi penggunaan platform digital dianalisis untuk memahami sejauh mana literasi digital berkontribusi terhadap efektivitas dalam pencarian informasi. Hasil penelitian diharapkan dapat memberikan wawasan yang lebih mendalam tentang bagaimana literasi digital memengaruhi perilaku pencarian informasi mahasiswa. Implikasi penelitian ini melibatkan pemahaman yang lebih baik terhadap kebutuhan literasi digital mahasiswa, yang dapat membantu pengembangan strategi pembelajaran dan program literasi digital yang lebih terfokus di lingkungan pendidikan tinggi. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini dapat memberikan kontribusi pada pemahaman praktis dan teoretis terkait pentingnya literasi digital dalam meningkatkan kualitas pencarian informasi mahasiswa di era digital.

Abstract

The Buddhist Camp activities for Buddhayana youth throughout NTB Province which will be held on 07–09 April 2023 at Vihara Jaya Wijya, North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, carry the theme "Strengthening the Identity of a Superior Buddhist Generation Based on Buddhayana Values". This theme was chosen because the young generation of Buddhists is the hope for the future of Buddhism. Buddhayana Youth Buddhist Camp throughout NTB Province is an activity that aims to strengthen the identity of a superior Buddhist generation based on Buddhayana values. carried out through a series of activities, such as Dharma classes, group discussions, and meditation. Participants are given a deep understanding of Buddhist teachings and empowered to apply them in everyday life. The result is young people who are more connected to religious values and are able to use Buddhayana as a moral foundation in their actions. Buddhist Camp participants are also given the opportunity to develop themselves through various activities, such as mindfulness and art. These activities can help participants to better understand themselves and their potential. Buddhist Camp participants are encouraged to practice Buddhist teachings in their daily lives. Tema ini dipilih karena generasi muda Buddhis merupakan harapan masa depan agama Buddha. Buddhis Camp Pemuda Buddhayana se-Provinsi NTB merupakan sebuah kegiatan yang bertujuan untuk memperkuat identitas generasi Buddhis yang unggul dengan landasan pada nilai-nilai Buddhayana. dilakukan melalui serangkaian kegiatan, seperti kelas Dharma, diskusi kelompok, dan meditasi. Peserta diberikan pemahaman mendalam terhadap ajaran Buddha dan diberdayakan untuk mengaplikasikannya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Hasilnya adalah pemuda yang lebih terkoneksi dengan nilai-nilai agama dan mampu menjadikan Buddhayana sebagai landasan moral dalam tindakan mereka.Peserta Buddhis Camp juga diberikan kesempatan untuk mengembangkan diri melalui berbagai kegiatan, seperti mindfulness, dan seni. Kegiatan-kegiatan tersebut dapat membantu peserta untuk lebih memahami diri sendiri dan potensinya.Peserta Buddhis Camp didorong untuk mempraktikkan ajaran Buddha dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.

Abstract

Community service is a mentoring activity that seeks to implement English language teaching for Buddhist Sunday School students in groups between lecturers and students. The purpose of this activity is to increase understanding of vocabulary in English with the use of the English is Fun program. The methods used in the English is Fun program include lectures, songs, games, and demonstrations. The results of this community service show that this English is Fun program has succeeded in increasing the interest and confidence of Buddhist Sunday School students to understand the basic material presented and practice English. This can be seen in the enthusiasm and determination of the students to complete all learning activities from start to finish. All those involved at Metta Jaya Monastery were supportive of this community service activity. Based on the results of this program, it can be concluded that the application of English learning teaching in the context of English is Fun is a means of improving the ability of Buddhist Sunday School students to understand English vocabulary effectively. ABSTRAKPengabdian kepada masyarakat merupakan kegiatan pendampingan yang berupaya melaksanakan pengajaran bahasa Inggris kepada para siswa Sekolah Minggu Buddha secara berkelompok antara dosen dan mahasiswa. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah meningkatkan pemahaman tentang kosakata dalam bahasa Inggris dengan penggunaan program English is Fun. Metode yang digunakan di program English is Fun, antara lain ceramah, lagu dan permainan dan demonstrasi. Hasil dari pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini menunjukkan bahwa program English is Fun ini telah berhasil meningkatkan minat dan kepercayaan diri para siswa Sekolah Minggu Buddha untuk memahami materi dasar yang disajikan dan praktik bahasa Inggris. Hal ini terlihat dari semangat dan tekad para siswa untuk menyelesaikan semua kegiatan pembelajaran dari awal hingga akhir. Semua yang terlibat di Vihara Metta Jaya mendukung terhadap kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini. Berdasarkan hasil program ini, dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa penerapan pengajaran belajar bahasa Inggris dalam konteks English is Fun menjadi sarana peningkatan kemampuan para siswa Sekolah Minggu Buddha dalam memahami kosakata dalam bahasa Inggris secara efektif.

Abstract

One of the social media that is much in demand and consumed by people in the post-modern era is Instagram. This research looks deeper into the role of Instagram as a media for da'wah in spreading religious messages in the post-modern era than previous studies. The method used in this research is a literature review. The articles selected and reviewed in this study were 5 articles based on the Google Scholar database, which were filtered using the Publish or Perish application. Based on the research, it was found that in the postmodern era, Instagram can be an effective medium for da'wah in conveying religious messages. In the context of media sociology, Instagram is used as a da'wah channel that adapts religious messages into a form that is relevant and attracts the attention of Instagram users, especially the younger generation. The strategy of da'wah through Instagram also utilises creativity, digital trends, and compatibility with audience hobbies to increase the attractiveness and influence of da'wah messages. In addition, Instagram is also used as a tool to expand the reach of da'wah messages.

Abstract

In the era of globalization, effective communication skills have become increasingly crucial for educators, particularly those in non-language departments. This study investigates the impact of a Participatory Communication Approach on improving English speaking skills among lecturers from non-language departments at Jinarakkhita Buddhist College of Lampung. The research addresses the significant challenges faced by these lecturers, including linguistic difficulties, lack of confidence, and limited speaking practice opportunities. Employing a quantitative research design with a pretest-posttest experimental group approach, the study involved 20 lecturers (10 males, 11 females) from Buddhist Communication Science, Buddhist Education, and Buddhist Business and Management departments. The research was conducted from February 20th to April 20th, 2024, using Madsen's speaking skill rubric to assess participants' performance across five key dimensions: comprehension, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, and speech speed. The findings revealed a significant improvement in lecturers' speaking skills which is representing a 13.5% enhancement. The study concludes that this approach provides a supportive, collaborative learning environment that helps non-language lecturers overcome communication barriers. By promoting active engagement, peer feedback, and interactive learning, institutions can effectively develop lecturers' English-speaking skills, ultimately improving educational quality and global academic interactions.
