Abstract

In marketing communication, there are several important aspects that need to be a priority for a businessman, one of which is promotion. Promotion is a strategy carried out by a company to attract and make consumers aware of the products offered. Along with technological advances, business people are now increasingly utilizing e-commerce platforms, such as Tiktokshop, to promote and advertise their products. Tiktokshop also has a live streaming feature whose purpose is to introduce business people's products in detail to consumers directly. Now, one of the Tiktok accounts that uses promotions via live streaming is the Elvara account. Elvara is one of the Tiktok accounts that sells skincare products using a unique marketing communication strategy. Presenting household conflict dramas every day when offering products on live streaming. The purpose of the study was to determine the role of conflict drama as a marketing communication strategy in promoting skincare products offered during live streaming. This study uses a qualitative approach method with the 7P marketing mix theory which includes product, price, place, promotion, people, process, and physical evidence. The results of this study indicate that promotion through conflict drama can influence decision making by loyal consumers (customers) to repeat orders and potential consumers to directly purchase skincare products offered by the Elvara account.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the phenomenon of fatherlessness in family communication patterns. Fatherlessness, which refers to the lack of a father’s role either physically or psychologically, has become a significant issue in Indonesia, which ranks third in the world for fatherlessness cases. In this research, a qualitative method with a case study approach is used. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with informants who have experienced fatherlessness. The findings of the study indicate that the absence of a father has a significant impact on family communication patterns. Children who experience fatherlessness tend to have problems in interpersonal communication, decision-making, and emotion management, highlighting the importance of empathy in fatherless families. These findings are expected to raise public awareness, especially among parents, about the importance of a father's presence in the family, and contribute to the development of communication studies related to the phenomenon of fatherlessness.

Abstract

This study analyzes the mascot "Si Domar" used by Indomaret company as a brand icon through a semiotic approach. The purpose of this research is to reveal the meaning contained in Si Domar as a company icon. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method. This mascot not only serves as an eye-catching visual element, but also as a communication tool that reflects the company's identity and values to consumers. Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic analysis was used to decipher the signs contained in the visual representation of Si Domar, including visual aspects such as color, shape, and expression, as well as the messages conveyed through these symbols.The results of the study show that Si Domar plays an important role in building a positive image of Indomaret in the eyes of the public. This mascot successfully blends elements of local culture and modernization, creating a divisible symbol. The conclusion of this study confirms that a deep understanding of semiotics is essential in the development of effective visual communication strategies to strengthen brand identity. Thus, Si Domar is not only a visual icon, but also a representation of Indomaret's deep values and identity.

Abstract

The availability of clean water is a major need for farmers in Penanggungan Village, Trawas District, Mojokerto Regency, who have been facing water shortages, especially during the dry season. This community service aims to overcome the problem of clean water shortages by managing the construction of water reservoirs and piped irrigation systems as a sustainable clean water supply solution. Because with the planning and construction of piped irrigation systems, it is expected that farmers can have easier, stable, and sustainable access to clean water. The methods used include integrated project management planning, active involvement of the community as partners, and application of simple technology that suits local conditions. This activity involved many farmers as the main participants and was carried out over several months with the stages of planning, implementation, and evaluation. The results of the service showed a significant increase in the availability of clean water that can be used for livestock needs and land irrigation, as well as increased community awareness and participation in water resource management. Thus, the construction of water reservoirs and piped irrigation makes a real contribution in supporting the sustainability of livestock businesses in the area.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the branding strategy implemented by the Public Relations (PR) division of the Museum of Islamic Indonesia K.H. Hasyim Asy’ari (MINHA) in developing the identity of Indonesian Islam. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis applies Sicco Van Gelder’s brand strategy theory, which consists of three main dimensions: brand positioning, brand identity, and brand personality. The findings indicate that MINHA’s PR strategically and consistently implements branding through three key aspects: organizing public events, utilizing social media, and incorporating architectural design to reinforce the identity of Indonesian Islam. These strategies have successfully shaped the museum’s image as inclusive, educational, and youth-friendly, presenting a moderate and tolerant face of Indonesian Islam. The role of PR extends beyond promotion to become a driving force in conveying the narrative of Indonesian Islam through adaptive communication approaches. This study recommends optimizing additional digital platforms and developing an official website to further strengthen the museum’s branding on a broader scale.

Abstract

The hotel industry is a service sector that relies heavily on the quality of human resources, so internal communication has a central role in maintaining smooth operations and improving staff performance. This study examines the implementation of Human Resource Development (HRD) communication through the General Manager Table Program at XHotel Mojokerto, which is designed as a medium for direct dialogue between management and employees. The program aims to accelerate the distribution of information, accommodate the aspirations of staff, and build more open and effective two-way communication. The research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation studies. The study participants included General Managers, HRD, and hotel staff who participated in the program for a six-month period in 2025. Data analysis was carried out with reference to Mintzberg's organizational communication theory, which emphasizes the managerial role in the functions of monitoring, information dissemination, facilitation, and negotiation. The results of the study show that the General Manager Table Program contributes positively to the effectiveness of internal communication. Through this program, HRD not only plays the role of conveying information, but also as a dialogue facilitator that encourages active employee involvement. The program has been proven to improve communication transparency, speed up conflict resolution, and strengthen a sense of belonging among staff. The impact can be seen in increasing motivation, discipline, and more consistent work performance, while strengthening the harmonious relationship between management and employees in the work environment. The implication of this research is the need for sustainability and the development of similar programs as innovative HRD communication strategies. The application of this model can be a reference in building a positive work culture that supports productivity, service quality, and competitiveness of the hospitality industry amid global dynamics.

Abstract

This study aims to explore how interpersonal communication plays a role in the process of constructing self-identity within the “Jemuah Keos” community in Surabaya. This community functions as an alternative social space inhabited by individuals with diverse creative backgrounds, such as musicians, motorcycle builders, visual artists, and subculture enthusiasts. The formation of identity in this community is not solely driven by individual expression but also shaped through social interactions that are reflective and rich in meaningful symbols. The study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study method. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews with nine informants, and documentation of various visual artifacts representing the community’s activities. The data analysis process follows the interactive model by Miles and Huberman, which consists of three main stages: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The theoretical framework used in this study refers to Joseph A. DeVito's concept of interpersonal communication, which includes self-disclosure, empathy, emotional support, symbolic exchange, social values, as well as reflective interaction and role negotiation in social relationships. The findings indicate that interpersonal communication is a key element in shaping and negotiating personal identity. Cultural symbols such as clothing style, vehicle modifications, visual language, and daily interaction patterns become primary means of identity expression. The "Jemuah Keos" community demonstrates openness, equality, and a critical stance against the dominance of mainstream culture. Interpersonal communication within this community also plays a role in building collective solidarity and voicing critical views on existing cultural standards. The identity formed is not only personal but also part of a larger community identity.

Abstract

Nowadays everyone is free to have an opinion, the existence of social media adds to the potential for freedom of opinion. No wonder there are more and more cases of offense, this is due to the appropriateness of attitude. Appropriate behavior is an attempt to minimize actions/speech that have the potential to offend individuals/groups. One of the impacts of the appropriateness of attitude is the change in the term crazy to people with mental disorders (ODGJ), disability is refined into disability. Appropriate behavior can be applied in Indonesia considering the friendly Indonesian people, but this sometimes clashes with comedy because sometimes comedians make comedy by ignoring the appropriateness of behavior. One of them was Pandji Pragiwaksono who violated the appropriateness of attitude. In the video Stand Up Comedy "Pragiwaksono" entitled "Pandji and Cicak Ninja". Pandji discusses the theme of animals that he hates, the animal in question is a cat. In his material, Pandji called the cat a petty animal. As a result Pandji was bullied by netizens. The purpose of this study was to find out how the discourse analysis of "appropriate behavior" in Pandji Pragiwaksono's Stand Up Comedy. The author uses the Discourse Analysis of Teun A. Van Dijk as an analytical knife. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. This research analyzes the elements of the text structure (micro structure, superstructure, macro structure), social cognition, and social context. The results of this study are materials produced in comedy discourse through the process of observing the cat phenomenon, which is relevant in society. The occurrence of violations of appropriate behavior in Stand Up Comedy is due to negligence regarding one of the material discussed. Whereas in comedy, diction is needed that does not heed the appropriateness of acting so that it sounds funny. Ethically, it is appropriate to act as a contradiction and violate ethics, but on the other hand, it becomes a material for humor in a single joke.

Abstract

Communication is currently growing with the existence of communication technology. New media are constantly being created so that the flow of communication is increasing. According to McLuhan, new media affect humans in communicating and the way they communicate affects human life. Now humans can share and communicate using social media with various motivations. Humor is one of the things that is often used in social media where ideas, opinions, and various other expressions are wrapped in humor. One of the most common uses of humor found in popular social media such as Instagram and Twitter. Like a comedian or stand-up comedian Coki Pardede who often makes dark jokes and satire on his social media. So the title of this research is "Analysis of Semiotics of Dark jokes and Coki Pardede's Satire on Instagram Social Media". The purpose of this study is to find out the meaning contained in dark jokes and satire on Coki Pardede's Instagram. By using content analysis techniques and semiotic analysis theory initiated by Charles Sanders Peirce. With the results of the study, namely knowing the meaning of dark jokes and satire on Instagram.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas mengenai pemberitaan penanggan pandemi covid-19 di Indonesia yang ditayangkan dalam program Mata Najwa episode #MataNajwaMenantiTerawan di Trans7. Dalam penelitian ini penulis menggunakan analisis framing metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan model Zhongdan Pan dan Gerald Kosicki. Adanya penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana media televisi membingkai suatu berita atau isu, terutama pada tayangan isu penangganan covid-19 dalam program acara Mata Najwa.Adapun yang menarik dalam penelitian ini yaitu program Mata Najwa episode #MataNajwaMenantiTerawan ini tidak menghadirkan narasumber akan tetapi menggunakan kursi kosong yang seharusnya diisi oleh Menteri Kesehatan Terawan. Hasil dari analisis media ini menunjukkan bahwa program Mata Najwa telah membingkai acara tersebut dengan menggunakan konsep kursi kososng. Konsep kursi kosong yang digunakan memang terkesan baru dimata masyarakat, akan tetapi Mata Najwa mampu membawakan berita tersebut tanpa menghilangkan nilai-nilai suatu berita. Dalam tayangan tersebut Najwa Shihab cenderung menyudutkan Terawan Agus Putranto terkait kinerjanya sebagai Menteri Kesehatan terutama selama menangani kasus pandemi covid-19. Meskipun demikian, apa yang dilakukan Najwa Shihab dianggap tidak melanggar kode etik jurnalistik oleh Dewan pers, hal itu disampaikan Dewan Pers kepada para wartawan. Oleh karena itu dapat disimpulkan bahwa program Mata Najwa mampu mengemas berita tersebut meskipun menurut khalayak konsep yang dilakukan Mata Najwa tersebut sempat mengalami pro dan kontra. Framing dengan penggunaan kursi kosong yang dilakukan oleh Mata Najwa menjadi hal baru yang dapat dipahami oleh masyarakat Indonesia dan memberikan pemahaman bahwasanya penggunaan konsep wawancara tersebut dapat digunakan dan diterima masyarakat nantinya, dengan alasan yang kuat dan pertimbangan yang matang.
