Abstract

This paper presents an analysis of the application of Christian morality in social interactions among students, lecturers, employees, and the community at the STIPAS Campus of the Archdiocese of Kupang. The research aims to serve as a reflection for promoting positive changes in students' development in the future. The study adopted a qualitative and descriptive quantitative approach and was carried out from September to December 2023. The application of Christian morality was assessed based on the fruits of the spirit outlined in Galatians 5:22-23, including love for others, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, loyalty, trustworthiness, honesty, reliability, and gentleness. The research showed that the overall score for the application of Christian morality was 3.8 out of 5. To enhance the application of Christian morals, STIPAS has implemented various measures such as socializing academic and student guidelines, changing teaching methods, involving more students in activities, providing routine assistance from student affairs, and enforcing sanctions. These findings stress the importance of STIPAS students, particularly those aiming to become Catholic Religion teachers, adopting Christian morals in their lives.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the understanding of young Catholics about practical politics at Stasi Sta. Maria Goreti Aramengi, Hoelea Holy Cross Parish, Larantuka Diocese. The research method used is a qualitative method with a focus on content analysis to understand the complexity of the phenomenon being studied. The research results show that the majority of young Catholics in this station have a good understanding of practical politics. Supporting factors include Church social teaching, Catholic religious education, spiritual leadership and formation, collaborative discussions, opportunities for involvement, and spiritual formation. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors include a lack of understanding of the Church's social teachings, the influence of secular culture, indifference to politics, lack of access to information and education, and the perception of politics as controversial. Efforts to increase practical political understanding include open discussion, education and spiritual formation.

Abstract

Tujuan Pengabdian kepada Mayrakat ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengembangan karakter anggota organisasi Tuggal Hati Seminari dan Tunggal Hati Maria di Stasi Santo Agustinus Bello dan Di samping ini, tujuan lainnya adalah memberikan edukasi akan dampak negatif perkembangan IPTEK bagi pengembangan karakter setiap anggota organisasi. Kegiatan ini dilakukan agar karakter setiap anggota komunitas dapat diperbaiki. Metode yang dilakukan oleh tim PkM adalah sosialisasi dan metode sharing. Melalui metode ini juga, dihasilkan sebuah evaluasi yang menandakan indikator pencapaian berupa kesepakatan masing-masing individu dalam menyadari kesalahan-kesalahan yang tidak mencerminkan karakter yang baik dengan menulis komitmen-komitmen pribadi dan dijadikan sebagai bekal pribadi dalam kehidupan. Hasil yang dicapai adalah kesadaran secara penuh oleh para anggota akan hal-hal negatif yang dilakukan sebelumnya dan juga menyadari pentingnya membangun karakter yang baik dalam menjalankan kehidupan. Kesimpulan dari PkM ini berupa generalisasi umu dari seluruh rangkaian kegiatan.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the views of the As Manlea community in Malaka Regency regarding the puah manus ritual. We involved six informants and analysed the results using qualitative methods with reflective thematic analysis techniques to reveal specific themes in the puah manus ritual. The study findings indicate that, for the As Manlea community, the puah manus ritual reflects: (1) the belief that betel nut enhances focus and concentration in performing tasks, (2) betel nut as the primary component in traditional prayer rituals, and (3) as an expression of inter-community communication. This study has significant implications for the forms of communication developing within local Indonesian communities. This study also serves as a foundation for fostering family ties, togetherness, and collaborative cooperation that bring harmony and increase participation in building families, communities, and the nation, especially in the Indonesia-Timor Leste border region.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the influence of school pastoralism on the character formation of Catholic religious students at St. Catholic Middle School. Maria Assumpta New City Kupang. This study uses a qualitative method. The sample in this study was 30 people consisting of 1 school teacher, 24 teachers and 5 people. The data collection technique used in the research was carried out using interviews and documentation studies, while the data analysis technique in this qualitative research was by using the power collection, data reduction, data display and data ferifying techniques. The results of the research show that school pastoral care has a huge impact in shaping the character of Catholic students, this cannot be separated from the support and assistance of parents. This is shown through the results of research using interview methods with school principals, teachers and parents.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan sebagai respons terhadap tantangan kehidupan sosial-keagamaan umat di Kapela Santa Maria Goreti Fatuteta, Paroki Santa Maria Fatima Taklale, Keuskupan Agung Kupang, yang masih menghadapi persoalan rendahnya pemahaman dan praktik moderasi beragama. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah memperkuat karakter religius umat melalui proses internalisasi nilai-nilai moderasi beragama yang mencakup sikap toleransi, keseimbangan, dan keterbukaan terhadap perbedaan. Mitra pengabdian adalah umat Fatuteta yang berjumlah 65 kepala keluarga dengan latar sosial ekonomi yang beragam. Metode yang digunakan meliputi pendidikan masyarakat, pelatihan partisipatif, dan advokasi pastoral. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, kuesioner pre-test dan post-test, serta refleksi kelompok. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan rata-rata sebesar 29,8% pada pemahaman dan sikap moderasi beragama setelah umat mengikuti rangkaian penyuluhan dan pelatihan. Kegiatan ini juga menunjukkan perubahan positif dalam pola interaksi sosial dan kesadaran beragama umat yang menjadi lebih inklusif dan harmonis. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa penguatan karakter religius berbasis moderasi beragama dapat menjadi strategi pastoral yang efektif untuk membangun komunitas iman yang berakar pada ajaran Kristiani sekaligus terbuka terhadap pluralitas sosial. Hasil pengabdian ini penting karena memberikan model pemberdayaan iman umat berbasis komunitas yang dapat direplikasikan dalam konteks pastoral Gereja Katolik di wilayah lain.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi pandangan mahasiswa katolik di Kupang terhadap penggunaan AI dan otomatisasi, mengidentifikasi nilai-nilai teologi moral yang relevan dan menganalisis potensi konflik antara nilai-nilai tersebut dengan implementasi AI dalam kehidupan mahasiswa. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan jumlah informan utama 12 mahasiswa dan informan pendukung 2 dosen di Kota Kupang Nusa Tenggara Timur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa memandang AI sebagai alat bantu yang bermanfaat untuk efisiensi akademik. Nilai-nilai teologi moral yang ditekankan adalah martabat manusia, keadilan social dan tanggung jawab etis. Konflik etis utama berpusat pada kekhawatiran tentang integritas akademik, resiko ketergantungan dan potensi penurunan pemikiran kritis dan interaksi interpersonal. Pandangan umum menunjukkan bahwa teknologi harus menjadi mitra yang mendukung, bukan menggantikan perkembangan manisiawi. Dengan demikian, penggunaan AI diterima dengan persyaratan etis. Diperlukan kerangka teologi moral yang kuat untuk memastikan bahwa AI digunakan dengan bijak, menjunjung tinggi martabat manusia dan mendukung kebaikan bersama sehingga sejalan dengan prinsip-prinsip katolik.

Abstract

This study examines the role of Catholic Religious Education in shaping the social interaction behavior of Catholic students in Oebobo District using a descriptive qualitative approach. The background of this study is the tendency of social dynamics among students that do not fully reflect Christian moral values ​​in everyday social interactions. The study was conducted at several universities and church communities in Oebobo District with 30 key informants consisting of active Catholic students, religious educators, and spiritual mentors. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation of educational activities and church services. The results of the study indicate that Catholic Religious Education plays a significant role in shaping the social interaction behavior of Catholic students. The analysis findings indicate that structured religious education, experiential learning (e.g., social service activities and spiritual retreats), and regular moral guidance from educators and spiritual mentors strengthen the internalization of Christian values ​​such as tolerance, empathy, honesty, and cooperation. The majority of respondents (more than 80%) reported positive changes in how they interact with peers, lecturers, and the wider community after consistently participating in the religious education program. However, challenges arise in consistently practicing values ​​outside of the faith community, particularly when faced with social or academic pressures. This study recommends developing more contextual models of religious learning and strengthening collaboration between educational institutions and church communities to maintain the positive impact of moral education on students' social lives.

Abstract

The family is not only seen as the smallest unit of society, but also as the domestic Church (ecclesia domestica), where faith is instilled, lived, and passed on. In light of Catholic Church teachings, the family is the primary basis of Catholic Religious Education, shaping the character and spirituality of the congregation from an early age. However, amidst social dynamics and the rapid development of digital technology, the congregation's awareness of the family's identity as a domestic Church is weakening. This study aims to analyze the dynamics of congregational formation and pastoral practices in realizing the Church as a domestic family and their relevance to Catholic Religious Education in Aimutin Parish, Dili. The study used a qualitative-descriptive method with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. The focus of the study includes identifying pastoral challenges, development strategies, implementation of family programs, and the roles of families and pastors in church life. The results show that ethnic diversity, low congregational participation, minimal systematic faith formation, socio-economic challenges, and the influence of digital culture are the main obstacles to strengthening the family as a domestic Church. This situation has a direct impact on the effectiveness of Catholic Religious Education in the family environment. Therefore, this study emphasizes the importance of ongoing faith formation, the development of a digital-based pastoral approach, and the empowerment of families as the primary subjects of faith education and implementers of the Church's mission in daily life.
