Abstract

Masa adven adalah masa persiapan diri menyongsong Natal bagi umat Katolik. Setiap tahun pada masa persiapan ini, umat di stasi St. Petrus Haukoto, melakukan kegiatan katekese namun umat tidak memahami dengan baik bahan katekese terutama yang berbasis Kitab Suci, maka kegiatan katekese ini banyak diabaikan oleh umat karena menurut mereka katekese tanpa dipahami hanyalah membosankan. Hal ini diperoleh dari hasil observasi dan wawancara awal dengan para tokoh umat di stasi ini. Maka pada tahun ini umat berniat untuk dapat memahami dan mendalami dengan baik bahan katekese yang dibagikan oleh Komisi Kateketik Keuskupan Agung Kupang, olehnya dibutuhkan seorang fasilitator yang mampu menjadi pembimbing dan motivator, maka tim PkM menjadi jawaban atas harapan umat tersebut. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini, selain menjawab kerinduan umat juga untuk mendalami Kitab Suci bersama umat sebagai sumber iman yang merupakan inspirasi hidup, terutama dalam mempersiapkan diri dengan baik menyongsong Natal. Selain itu, umat diajak untuk dapat meningkatkan rasa percaya diri dan keberanian dalam berketekese dan berbagi pengalaman iman. Metode yang digunakan adalah ceramah, diskusi dan sharing iman. Hasilnya, umat dapat memahami secara baik bahan katekese pada masa adven, umat yang awalnya masih ragu dalam berbicara, mulai memiliki rasa percara diri dan keberanian dalam sharing iman dan pada ahkirnya umat merasa terbantu karena dapat mempersiapkan diri dengan baik menyongsong Natal.

Abstract

The teacher's role in managing the class is motivation for students to increase students' desire to learn. An active and creative teacher will make the class come alive and give students their own color in learning. The focus of this research is to examine student success which is not only determined by the students' abilities but also depends on the role and abilities of a class teacher who actively and creatively encourages students to study more actively. The research method used is a qualitative method, with a descriptive model research approach. In accordance with the initial data obtained, it was found that at SMAK Sint Carolus Boromeus Kupang, one of the causes of teachers not managing their classes well was their lack of mastery of technology and only using monotonous teaching methods and a lack of good interaction with students. This makes students feel bored, unfocused and less active in participating in learning and students lack motivation in learning. The results obtained from this research are that teachers have played a very good role in classroom management, only efforts need to be made by the school to help teachers use more creative learning technology.

Abstract

Young Catholics (OMK) are the next generation of sources of the Catholic faith. One of them is the holy book. In the Naibonat quasi-parish, OMK is very active in church activities. However, in reality, there are still many OMK who do not have adequate knowledge and understanding of the holy books, both deuteurocanonical. So, when a new translation of the deuteurocanonical holy book was published, OMK became confused about which holy book to have. This research aims to determine the extent of understanding of OMK in Naibonat regarding the deuterocanonical holy book, efforts that need to be made to increase OMK's understanding so that harmony is maintained through the teachings of the deuterurocanonical holy book. The method used is a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques are interviews, observation and documentation combined with literary studies. The data obtained was reduced and analyzed so that it answered the research objectives. As a result, OMK in Naibonat do not understand the differences between Catholic and Protestant holy books. However, OMK knows that the contents of the holy book teach about helping each other and loving each other. This is also what is taught in deuteurocanonical books, such as in the book of Tobit which contains life advice for his son Tobiah to continue doing good, abstain from sin, and continue to help others by giving alms. Advice for OMKs like this is what encourages the creation of a harmonious life where by helping and loving each other, differences and diversity will not become obstacles but become tools that maintain harmony in life for the common good. The results of this research will be a starting point for community service activities in the form of socializing the deuteurocanonical holy book for OMK in Naibonat in particular and in the Archdiocese of Kupang in general.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low level of student concern for environmental cleanliness on the STIPAS campus of the Kupang Archdiocese, which was characterized by the large amount of rubbish scattered around such as leaves, plastic, tissue and paper in the campus area. In response, this research uses guidance from Pope Francis' Encyclical Laudato Si' which emphasizes the importance of protecting the earth as a common home from damage caused by irresponsible human actions. The research method used is a qualitative approach, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews and literature review. Research informants consisted of STIPAS lecturers, staff and students. This research aims to understand the level of student concern for environmental cleanliness, supporting and inhibiting factors, as well as efforts that can be made to increase this concern based on the principles of Laudato Si'. The research results showed that the informants' environmental awareness increased after studying the concepts in Laudato Si'. Concrete actions such as waste management, energy savings, and participation in environmental activities have been taken. Implementation of Laudato Si' values ​​on campus also results in policy and behavioral changes, such as reducing waste and actively involving students in maintaining a clean environment. The conclusion of this research emphasizes the importance of implementing Laudato Si' values ​​to increase students' environmental awareness, with support from campus policies and cooperation from all parties.

Abstract

Hauteas are branching wooden sticks that are considered sacred by the indigenous people of Timor. This tradition is still carried out by the Nopala tribe as part of traditional rituals that reflect happiness, enthusiasm and unity as brothers. This research was conducted to preserve cultural beliefs, deepen the Catholic faith, and strengthen feelings of brotherhood within the tribe, which has an impact on cultural respect between tribes. The method used is qualitative with a naturalistic descriptive approach. Data was collected through observation and in-depth interviews. The research results show that Hauteas functions as a symbolic language for the Nopala Tribe to express their faith in Allah (Uis Neno). Hauteas symbolizes holiness, divinity, and the existence of the Triune God. The process of planting Hauteas and the rituals surrounding it convey deep religious and social significance, strengthening the spiritual connection of the people with God and their ancestors. Hauteas' presence is also relevant to the development of the Catholic faith, because it is a bridge of understanding between ancestral traditions and Catholic teachings. This research concludes that Hauteas is a heritage of faith that is not only a religious symbol but also a means of deepening relationships between tribal members and increasing cross-cultural respect. Preserving these traditions is important to ensure that the spiritual and cultural meaning of Hauteas remains alive amidst changing times.

Abstract

Background: Konsep sinodal yang berarti berjalan bersama dalam gereja katolik memiliki peran penting dalam membangun persatuan dan partisipasi umat. Minimnya pemahaman umat tentang sinodal berdampak pada keterlibatan yang rendah dan renggangnya relasi antar umat dan klerus, dalam kehidupan menggereja. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran dan pemahaman umat mengenai sinodalitas, sehingga tercipta persatuan, kerjasama dan partisipasi aktif dalam kehidupan gereja dan masyarakat. Metode: Pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi identifikasi masalah, penyusunan program sosialisasi, pelaksanaan sosialisasi, kolaborasi dengan berbagai pihak terkait, evaluasi dan tindak lanjut. Hasil: Umat mengalami peningkatan pemahaman tetang pentingnya sinodal dalam kehidupan menggereja, dan merasa terdorong untuk lebih aktif dalam kehidupan menggereja. Kesimpulan: Kegiatan ini berdampak positif terhadap kesadaran umat akan pentingnya sinodalitas serta meningkatkan partisipasi umat dalam kegiatan gereja dan sosial.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the views of the As Manlea community in Malaka Regency regarding the puah manus ritual. We involved six informants and analysed the results using qualitative methods with reflective thematic analysis techniques to reveal specific themes in the puah manus ritual. The study findings indicate that, for the As Manlea community, the puah manus ritual reflects: (1) the belief that betel nut enhances focus and concentration in performing tasks, (2) betel nut as the primary component in traditional prayer rituals, and (3) as an expression of inter-community communication. This study has significant implications for the forms of communication developing within local Indonesian communities. This study also serves as a foundation for fostering family ties, togetherness, and collaborative cooperation that bring harmony and increase participation in building families, communities, and the nation, especially in the Indonesia-Timor Leste border region.

Abstract

Background: Perdagangan manusia merupakan pelanggaran serius terhadap martabat dan hak asasi manusia, khususnya di Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT), yang memiliki tingkat kerentanan tinggi akibat faktor ekonomi, pendidikan rendah, dan kurangnya informasi. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman awal masyarakat tentang bahaya perdagangan orang melalui pendekatan komunikasi pastoral di Paroki Sta. Maria Fatima Taklale. Metode: Kegiatan dilaksanakan dalam bentuk sosialisasi dan penyuluhan dengan pendekatan edukatif kepada umat paroki. Pengukuran pemahaman dilakukan melalui instrumen pre-test dan post-test yang mencakup aspek kesadaran dan pemahaman dasar terkait perdagangan orang. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif dan disajikan dalam bentuk tabel dan grafik. Hasil: Hasil pre-test menunjukkan tingkat pemahaman awal peserta sebesar 60%, dan meningkat menjadi 96% pada post-test. Peningkatan ini mencerminkan efektivitas metode komunikasi pastoral dalam memberikan pemahaman dasar kepada peserta. Namun, karena kesadaran adalah proses yang terbentuk secara berkelanjutan, hasil ini lebih tepat ditafsirkan sebagai indikator peningkatan pemahaman awal, bukan sebagai ukuran final dari kesadaran itu sendiri. Kesimpulan: Sosialisasi komunikasi pastoral mampu meningkatkan pemahaman dasar umat terhadap isu perdagangan manusia. Untuk membentuk kesadaran yang berkelanjutan, dibutuhkan kegiatan lanjutan dan pendampingan jangka panjang. Oleh karena itu, program serupa direkomendasikan untuk dilakukan secara berkala guna memastikan perubahan sikap dan perilaku dalam upaya pencegahan perdagangan orang.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the description and influence of the principal's leadership style on teacher performance at SMPN Negeri Lotas Amanatun Utara. This research uses quantitative methods. The sample in this study was 25 people consisting of 1 school principal, 22 teachers, and 2 employees. The data collection technique in this study was using a questionnaire, while the data analysis technique used descriptive statistical data analysis and inferential statistical data analysis. The results showed that the variable description of the principal's leadership style and teacher performance at SMP Negeri Lotas Amanatun Utara was in the good category, where the achievement of the variable indicator of the principal's leadership style was 66.4%, and the achievement indicator of the teacher's performance variable was 70.2%. In the influence test, the results obtained explained that there was a positive and significant influence of the principal's leadership style on teacher performance at Lotas Amanatun Utara Public Middle School. This is shown through the results of the inferential test where the principal's leadership style variable has a t value of 3,471. This t value is a significant value because the sig value is 0.002 or less than the specified 0.05 (alpha).

Abstract

This research was carried out with the aim of examining the social interactions of students at SDK Santa Maria Assumpta, Kupang City. The results of the research show that the collaboration aspect obtained an indicator achievement of 71.11%, the communication aspect obtained an indicator achievement of 78.52%, the empathy aspect obtained an indicator achievement of 58.67%, the problem solving aspect obtained an indicator achievement of 68.52%, and the respect for diversity aspect achieved an indicator achievement of 85.56%. The positive impact of social interaction between students at SDK Maria Assumpta Kupang City is the creation of relationships and relations between students, students can improve their ability to communicate with other people, students are able to manage their emotions when facing challenges or problems in relationships with friends, teachers and school staff, students can transfer positive habits in their social interactions at school to their family life. Meanwhile, negative impacts include misunderstanding and bullying, dominating behavior towards other students who are in lower positions, as well as social restrictions which cause feelings of exclusion and social isolation for affected students. Efforts are made to create social interaction for students at SDK Santa Maria Assumpta, Kupang City, namely that the school needs to pay attention to the importance of aspects of students' social life so that students can develop as good and healthy individuals in carrying out social interactions in the school environment, in within the family and in the community. Apart from that, homeroom teachers need to translate school policies through educational activities that can increase social interaction between students at SDK Maria Assumpta, Kupang City.
