Abstract

The quality of nursing services is a value for health services in society. Patients are consumers who always hope to receive good health services. Many incidents may occur if the nurse's workload is too high. To overcome the danger of patients falling, it is necessary to take action to reduce the risk of patients falling. So nurses will always try to prevent patients from falling by installing identification bracelets, triangular labels on patient mattresses, warning signs, adjusting mattress height, and mattress railings. Precautions must also be in accordance with SOP. Nurse workload is the allocation of working time in providing services. The high workload of nurses occurs due to the limited number of staff and uncertain job descriptions. This outreach activity will provide knowledge and courage to communicate about workload so that we can prevent the risk of patient falls. PkM activities were socialized using lecture, question and answer and discussion methods to PkM participants, namely 15 nursing staff. To measure changes in PkM participants' knowledge, pre and post-tests were given to participants. The PkM results show that PkM participants have experienced increased knowledge in preventing the risk of patient falls. Participants also have the courage to discuss with the leadership if the workload is too heavy so that they can get the best solution. Participants also become more diligent in processing their daily work.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of effleurage back massage therapy on the intensity of acute pain after long bone fracture surgery. This research method is true experimental with a pretest-posttest control group design. The results showed a significant difference between the NSAID and NSAID groups with effleurage with a p-value <0.05. The range of changes in VAS in the NSAID group with effleurage tended to be higher than in the NSAID group on days 3 and 4. The conclusion is that NSAIDs with effleurage are effective in reducing the intensity of acute pain in patients after long bone fracture surgery and are recommended as a nursing intervention. Independently to ease the pain intensity of fracture patients. Keywords: Effleurage, Fracture, Pain

Abstract

PurposeThis study aims to examine the interrelationship between vicarious trauma, burnout, and resilience in trauma nurses, as well as to identify resilience strategies that support their mental health and professional sustainability. Nurses working in trauma and emergency care settings are frequently exposed to human suffering, critical injuries, and death, which can cause significant psychological strain. Understanding these relationships is essential to develop evidence-based interventions that promote mental health and resilience among trauma nurses. Materials and Methods. This study employed a systematic literature review approach with a descriptive-analytical design. Data were collected from Scopus, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and CINAHL databases for the period 2020–2025. A total of 382 articles were identified using the keywords “trauma nurse,” “vicarious trauma,” “burnout,” “resilience,” and “mental health.” After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 25 eligible studies were analyzed following the PRISMA 2020 protocol. Data extraction focused on study design, sample characteristics, and relationships among the main variables. Results. The synthesis shows that vicarious trauma significantly increases the risk of burnout among trauma nurses. Burnout, in turn, has a strong negative impact on mental health outcomes. Resilience plays a crucial mediating role, reducing the negative influence of both vicarious trauma and burnout. Institutional support, peer debriefing, and mindfulness-based resilience training are identified as effective interventions for enhancing psychological well-being. Conclusions.Vicarious trauma and burnout remain major psychological risks in trauma nursing practice. However, resilience serves as a vital protective factor that improves adaptability and emotional recovery. Strengthening resilience through structured mental health programs and trauma-informed leadership is essential to ensure sustainable well-being and performance among trauma nurses.

Abstract

Chronic kidney failure is a non-communicable disease caused by a decrease in the ability of the kidneys to carry out their functions. Hemodialysis therapy is a therapy given to sufferers of chronic kidney failure which functions to replace the work of the kidneys using a dialysis machine. Hemodialysis procedures performed on kidney failure patients are likely to cause depression because sufferers undergoing hemodialysis may experience feelings of discomfort or depression due to weakness in their physical condition and dependence on dialysis machines throughout their lives. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of reminiscence therapy in reducing depression in chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis at Imelda Pekerja Indonesia Hospital. This type of research is quantitative research, with the Quasy Experiment method, and with a pre-test and post-test group research design. This research was conducted in April – July 2024 in the Hemodialysis Room at Imelda Pekerja Indonesia Hospital, Medan. This research uses a non-probability sampling technique using a purposive sampling method, namely using inclusion criteria in determining the sample, so that the total research sample is 20 respondents. The instrument used in this research is a questionnaire that refers to the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II) to determine depression status. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis with the Wilcoxon test in the SPSS application. The results of the Wilcoxon statistical test showed a significant (p) value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), meaning that there was an effect of giving reminiscence therapy on depression status or in other words reminiscence therapy was effective in reducing depression in chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis at Imelda Pekerja Indonesia Hospital, Medan.

Abstract

Background: Buloh honey possesses antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as the ability to accelerate tissue regeneration. The innovative combination of Moist Wound Healing (MWH) and modern dressing based on Buloh bee honey provides an effective, safe, and affordable solution for managing diabetic foot ulcers. This approach can improve patients’ quality of life and reduce both the economic and public health burdens caused by poorly managed diabetic complications. Objective: To analyze the acceleration of diabetic ulcer wound healing before and after the intervention using the combination of MWH and modern dressing based on Buloh bee honey. Method: This study employed a quasi-experimental research design with a control time series comparison group. Results: Wound healing was assessed using the Bates-Jensen Wound Assessment Tool, which evaluates parameters such as wound size, depth, edge condition, tunneling, necrotic tissue type and area, exudate type and amount, surrounding skin condition, peripheral edema, granulation tissue size, peripheral induration, and epithelialization area. The results showed that the combination of Moist Wound Healing (MWH) and Buloh bee honey ointment accelerated the healing of diabetic ulcers compared to conventional treatment. In the first week, the intervention group began to show healthy granulation tissue formation and reduced exudate, while the control group demonstrated slower improvement. By the fourth week, 73.1% of participants in the intervention group reached near-complete epithelialization, compared to 41.8% in the control group. Conclusion: The combination of MWH and Buloh bee honey ointment proved to be more effective in accelerating diabetic ulcer healing than conventional care. This intervention promotes faster new tissue formation, reduces exudate, and enhances wound epithelialization. The approach is safe, natural, and recommended as an alternative therapy for chronic wounds in diabetic patients.
