Abstract

Weaknesses in the learning process are one of the problems that arise in the field of education, especially in mathematics learning. Mathematics learning activities are still dominated by memorization and listening activities. The aim of this study is to identify students' responses to the development of the Android-based learning media, Pizza Slice Math, for teaching fractions in elementary schools. This study uses a qualitative approach to systematically and in detail describe students' responses to the development of the Pizza Slice Math learning media for fractions. Data in this study were collected using a questionnaire technique. The questionnaire used in this study consists of questions aimed at measuring students' responses to the developed learning media. Testing was conducted by administering the learning application to students as respondents. The respondents were 15 second-grade students. The results of testing the Android-based learning application Pizza Slice Math on second-grade students showed a significant improvement in the aspects of content quality and objectives, learning quality, and technical quality after revisions were made. Overall, the application experienced an increase in student ratings, indicating that the application is effective and beneficial in the learning process. This application is recommended for use in learning because it has accurate and complete content quality, provides good learning opportunities, and is easy to use. This indicates that students' responses are very interested in the Pizza Slice Math media. Thus, the Pizza Slice Math application is suitable for use as interactive learning media.

Abstract

Purpose: Geometry is an essential component of elementary mathematics that helps students develop spatial understanding and abstract thinking skills. However, many students face difficulties in learning geometry due to the abstract nature of its concepts. This study aims to explore the responses of primary school students in the learning process.Method: This study adopted a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. This research involved 15 grade V students at SD Negeri 008 Sangkulirang as participants. Data collection in this study was carried out through the questionnaire method. Data collected through questionnaires were analyzed using a descriptive approach.Findings: The research findings indicate an increase in the average percentage in the aspects of learning, appearance, and technical quality and effectiveness of the program, with all aspects reaching above 80% after the revision. The first revision, the addition of a learning video, provides significant visual support in clarifying concept understanding, while the second revision, the addition of a timer feature in the quiz section, serves to train students' ability to manage time effectively.Significance: The development of this media highlights the innovative integration of digital technology to enhance mathematics learning. Flash Card Geometry is tailored to students’ needs in the digital era, encouraging active participation. Practically, it offers teachers an effective learning tool; theoretically, it supports the use of digital media to promote student-centered learning.

Abstract

The Student Evaluation of Teaching (SET) is a critical tool for ensuring the quality of higher education. However, SET results do not always comprehensively capture students' perspectives. Factors such as ambiguous evaluation forms, varying interpretations of questions, and the influence of non-academic factors on student responses can impact the reliability of the results. This research aims to reveal students' positive perceptions of the SET and uncover students' negative perceptions of the SET. This study employs a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. The participants consisted of eight informants, including lecturers and students. Data collection methods included in-depth interviews. The data were analyzed using a thematic approach. The validity of the data was ensured through check and recheck, researcher diligence, time triangulation, researcher triangulation, rechecking, and confirmation with informants. The findings indicate that informants held positive and negative perceptions of various aspects of the learning process. Seven key criteria related to student satisfaction were identified, spanning both offline and online learning environments. These criteria were based on student evaluations conducted at the end of each semester. Overall, the perceptions provided by the informants were consistent with the lecturers' expertise and understanding in their respective fields.
