Abstract

In the century 20, Indonesia experienced major changes in politics, economy, and society, which greatly affected the national education system. Under the New Order, education was seen as a strategic tool for achieving national goals, including economic development and political stability. The 1968 curriculum was born after the G30S/PKI uprising, focusing on promoting national ideology and developing practical skills, reflecting the emphasis on the values of the Five Principles. Five years later, the 1975 curriculum was introduced to synchronize education with developments in science and technology, and the needs of dynamic development. This curriculum is more student-centered, with an emphasis on critical thinking and problem-solving skills. In learning Arabic, the 1968 curriculum focuses on acquiring the basics of the language, while the 1975 curriculum p

Abstract

This research discusses the evaluation of portfolio assessment in Arabic learning, especially related to students' ability to understand fi'il madhi and fi'il mudhari' in the form of mabni majhul and mabni ma'lum at Pomdok Pesantern Al-Anwar Muara Jambi. The background of this study focuses on the importance of a comprehensive evaluation that not only measures the final results, but also the overall learning process of students. The purpose of the research is to evaluate work portfolios as an assessment tool in measuring student development related to Arabic grammar. The research used a qualitative approach of case study type, with data collection techniques through semi-structured interviews and documentation analysis. The data analysis technique used is the Miles and Huberman model, which involves collecting, reducing, and presenting data, as well as drawing conclusions. This study used primary data sources and secondary data sources. Primary data sources were obtained from semi-structured interviews with Ustadzah Fitriawati as well as analysis of student portfolios to assess understanding of fi'il madhi and fi'il mudhari' in the form of mabni majhul and mabni ma'lum. Secondary data sources include archived academic grade documents and learning outcome reports, as well as literature related to portfolio assessment in language education to provide a theoretical foundation and comparison with previous research.  The results showed that the use of portfolio work assessment was effective in monitoring the continuous development of students' understanding, both in theory and application of concepts. Portfolios encourage collaboration and discussion between students, and improve critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The reform of Islamic thought in the Middle East and South Asia emerged as a response to colonialism and the challenges of modernity. Figures such as Jamaluddin Al-Afghani, Muhammad Abduh, Rashid Rida, Hassan Al-Banna, Sayyid Ahmad Khan, Abul A'la Maududi, Ali Shariati, and Muhammad Ali Pasha initiated religious reforms that significantly influenced the struggle for independence in the Islamic world. However, comparative studies on their contributions to independence movements in these two regions remain limited. This study aims to analyze the ideas of key Islamic reformers and examine their relevance in addressing contemporary challenges. Using a qualitative historical approach, this research explores how these reformers integrated Islamic teachings with modern advancements in education, governance, and law to resist colonialism. The findings show that Islamic reformers played a crucial role in shaping nationalist movements, reviving Islamic identity, and supporting the establishment of independent Muslim nations. Their advocacy for education, ijtihad (independent reasoning), and political unity formed the foundation of anti-colonial resistance. In conclusion, Islamic thought reform not only contributed to national independence but also continues to influence contemporary Islamic governance and social movements. This study offers valuable insights into the dynamic relationship between Islam, modernization, and political independence, and provides a basis for further research on the relevance of Islamic reformist thought in the modern era.

This research is important to raise as a reflection on the importance of applying discipline in the learning process, especially Arabic. Arabic. Thorndike's theory of behaviorism which discusses how to strengthen the relationship between stimulus and response is closely related to reflection in Arabic. Relationship between stimulus and response is closely related to the above reflection above. As a behaviorist approach emphasizing stimulus-response reinforcement, Connectionism provides a relevant theoretical lens for evaluating Arabic language learning practices. This study aims to analyze the Arabic Morning program based on the perspective of Thorndike's Connectionism theory which includes 3 aspects 1) aspects of the law of exercise 2) aspects of the law of cause and effect, and 3) aspects of the law of readiness. This research is a case study type with a descriptive approach. Data were collected by interview, observation, and documentation. The data came from 1) interviews with Arabic Morning tutors, 2) participant observation, and 3) Arabic Morning document review. The data analysis technique uses the Miles and Hubermann model which consists of three steps, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that three aspects of Thorndike's Connectionism theory have been applied. The forms of implementation are 1) the legal aspect of practice in the form of memorizing mufrodat, writing, and expressing Arabic sentences, 2) the legal aspect of cause and effect in the form of applying rewards and punishments, and 3) the aspect of readiness in the form of emphasis on students to have internal and external readiness in participating in the Arabic Morning program. Based on the results of the data analysis process, it is found that the three legal aspects of Thorndike's Connectionism theory have been fully implemented in Arabic language learning.

Abstract

Mufradat mastery is a very important basic component in Arabic learning. However, mufradat learning at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah level still faces various obstacles, such as low student absorption and the use of conventional approaches that do not involve active student participation. This study aims to measure the effect of the Flipped Classroom model in improving the mufradat mastery of fifth-grade students at MIN 1 Karanganyar. The research method employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design (one-group pretest-posttest design). The research subjects consisted of 27 fifth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using multiple-choice tests before and after the intervention, then analyzed using normality, homogeneity, and paired sample t-tests with the assistance of SPSS version 26. The results of the study showed a significant increase in mufradat mastery after the implementation of the Flipped Classroom, as indicated by the statistically significant difference between the pretest (M = 29.63) and posttest (M = 77.04) scores (p = 0.000). This study contributes theoretically by reinforcing previous findings on the effectiveness of the Flipped Classroom in language learning, but with a specific focus on mufradat mastery at the elementary madrasah level, which has been relatively understudied. In practical terms, this study provides a reference for teachers, madrasahs, and parents to optimize mufradat learning through the synergy of pre-class stages, class discussions, and integrated evaluation-reflection with technological support. Thus, this study confirms that the Flipped Classroom can be a relevant, innovative, and applicable alternative learning model to improve the quality of students’ mufradat mastery from the elementary level.

This research belongs to the category of qualitative research with a literary study approach. The data collection method used in this research is to collect textbooks, journals, scientific articles, and literature reviews that contain the concept under study. The primary data source for this research is the dictionary of Abdul Rahman bin Ibrahim Al-Fouzan, Mukhtar Al-Tahir Hussein, and Muhammad Abdul Khaliq Muhammad Fadl titled "The Arabic Dictionary Baina Yadaik". The data analysis method used in this research is content analysis. The flow used to analyze the data is: Data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions.
