Abstract

This study examines the quality management of Arabic language learning at MAN 3 Merangin, based on George Robert Terry's management theory. The background of this research highlights the importance of Arabic in religious education, yet learning is often suboptimal due to challenges such as low student motivation and limited learning media. This study aims to analyze the implementation of four main aspects of management: planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling, in order to improve the quality of learning. The research method uses a qualitative approach with a case study, involving interviews, observations, and documentation. The results show that in planning, teachers develop syllabi and lesson plans in accordance with the Merdeka Curriculum, using a Project-Based Learning (PBL) approach. In organizing, tasks are clearly divided between teachers and the Quality Assurance Team. Actuating of learning involves active methods such as group discussions, simulations, and projects, along with the use of innovative media to engage students. Controlling is regularly conducted by the principal and management team to ensure the quality of learning remains high. Evaluation is carried out using written, oral, and formative tests to measure students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in Arabic. Overall, this quality management approach improves the learning quality and can serve as a model for other institutions.

Abstract

The reform of Islamic thought in the Middle East and South Asia emerged as a response to colonialism and the challenges of modernity. Figures such as Jamaluddin Al-Afghani, Muhammad Abduh, Rashid Rida, Hassan Al-Banna, Sayyid Ahmad Khan, Abul A'la Maududi, Ali Shariati, and Muhammad Ali Pasha initiated religious reforms that significantly influenced the struggle for independence in the Islamic world. However, comparative studies on their contributions to independence movements in these two regions remain limited. This study aims to analyze the ideas of key Islamic reformers and examine their relevance in addressing contemporary challenges. Using a qualitative historical approach, this research explores how these reformers integrated Islamic teachings with modern advancements in education, governance, and law to resist colonialism. The findings show that Islamic reformers played a crucial role in shaping nationalist movements, reviving Islamic identity, and supporting the establishment of independent Muslim nations. Their advocacy for education, ijtihad (independent reasoning), and political unity formed the foundation of anti-colonial resistance. In conclusion, Islamic thought reform not only contributed to national independence but also continues to influence contemporary Islamic governance and social movements. This study offers valuable insights into the dynamic relationship between Islam, modernization, and political independence, and provides a basis for further research on the relevance of Islamic reformist thought in the modern era.

Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology innovation has had a significant impact on the process of completing academic assignments, particularly in Arabic language learning in higher education. This study aims to examine students' perceptions of the use of AI technology in completing Arabic language assignments, using Davis's (1989) Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) theoretical framework, which focuses on two main indicators: perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. The research method used was a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design to explore students' experiences in depth. Data were obtained from nine purposively selected Master of Arabic Language Education students at Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University of Malang, then collected through in-depth interviews and analysed thematically. The results showed that students felt that AI technology innovation was very helpful in completing assignments, especially in accelerating information access, compiling academic papers, and increasing learning efficiency. However, students were also aware of challenges in the form of potential dependency and the risk of declining critical thinking skills. The conclusion of this study confirms that AI innovation has great potential as an effective support for academic assignments, with the note that its use needs to be directed wisely and supported by strengthening technological literacy.

Abstract

Arabic is highly important in Islamic education; however, many students struggle to speak fluently due to predominantly theoretical teaching approaches. This study examines the Arabic language immersion program atHasni Jambi, affiliated with Gontor, based on Stephen Krashen’s second language acquisition theory. The focus is on the implementation of Krashen’s five hypotheses: acquisition-learning, monitor, natural order, input, and affective filter. A qualitative case study method was employed, utilizing interviews, observations, and document analysis from teachers and students. The findings indicate that the immersion program encompasses all aspects of students’ daily lives, both inside the classroom—using direct methods, context, visuals, and gestures—and outside the classroom through activities in dormitories, dining halls, daily broadcasts, and competitions. Evaluation is conducted at multiple levels, from daily to annual assessments. The program has been shown to enhance fluency, spontaneity, and intrinsic motivation while reinforcing the natural use of Arabic. Its contribution lies in presenting an effective immersion model that can serve as a reference for other Islamic educational institutions to consistently improve Arabic speaking skills.

Abstract

This study explores the values of character education contained in Minhājul Muta‘allim by Imam Al-Ghazali, emphasizing their relevance to modern education. The research arises from growing concerns about moral decline among students in the 21st century, where education often prioritizes intellectual growth over ethical and spiritual formation. The study aims to identify and analyze Al-Ghazali’s moral framework in relation to the 18 national character education values promoted by Indonesia’s Ministry of Education and Culture. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach with content analysis, the research examines both the primary text and supporting literature to extract and categorize character values such as religiosity, honesty, discipline, responsibility, and social care. Findings reveal that Minhājul Muta‘allim integrates intellectual, moral, and spiritual dimensions of learning, emphasizing sincerity, respect for teachers, independence, and the social application of knowledge. These values align closely with Indonesia’s national education character framework and demonstrate that classical Islamic pedagogy offers timeless principles for holistic education. The study concludes that Al-Ghazali’s ethical model remains highly applicable to contemporary education and contributes theoretically by linking classical Islamic ethics with modern character education, and practically by offering a culturally grounded model for moral and educational development.
