Abstract

This research aims to determine the profile of the availability of learning media that supports improving numeracy skills in elementary and junior high schools in Tasikmalaya Regency and City and their use, using a qualitative approach, while the methods used are interviews and commentary studies. The research findings obtained are that several elementary schools and junior high schools in Tasikmalaya Regency and City have learning media that supports improving students' numeracy skills, the source comes from grants, schools rarely budget for purchasing media, and rarely even make their own media. However, unfortunately the existing media does not work optimally, because teachers are reluctant to use media and focus only on textbooks, even though all the sources interviewed said that the use of media in learning, especially in learning Mathematics, is very important.

Abstract

The problem addressed in this study stems from the low early numeracy skills of children aged 5–6 years at TK Perwari 1, Tasikmalaya City. Initial observations revealed that the children struggled to understand basic number concepts, simple arithmetic operations, and object classification based on quantity and color. Learning activities focused primarily on lecture-based methods and the use of worksheets (LKA), which proved less effective in stimulating children’s cognitive development, particularly in early numeracy. This research aims to improve children’s early numeracy skills through the use of the Turtle Sorting Color media a concrete learning tool made from plywood decorated with turtle images, where each turtle’s shell is crafted from used plastic bottles serving as containers for colorful pom-poms. Each turtle is labeled with a number to guide children in grouping pom-poms by color and quantity. The study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, implemented over two cycles. The research subjects consisted of 15 children from group B at TK Perwari 1. Data collection techniques included observation, documentation, and field notes, analyzed through descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods. Findings revealed a significant improvement in children's early numeracy skills. The average achievement increased from 36.25% in the pre-cycle, to 64.59% in the first cycle, and reached 88.33% in the second cycle. Children became more active, focused, and capable of understanding early numeracy concepts in a concrete and enjoyable manner. This study concludes that the Turtle Sorting Color media is effective as a learning aid to enhance early numeracy skills in children aged 5–6 years. The media offers an innovative alternative aligned with play-based learning approaches in early childhood education

Abstract

This study aimed to stimulate the letter recognition skills of children aged 5–6 years through the use of an alphabet board at RA Al-Ishlah, Tasikmalaya City. The background of this research stemmed from the low ability of children in recognizing letters, including letter symbols, sounds, and shapes. Moreover, the predominance of lecture-based methods and the lack of engaging learning media made children easily bored and less motivated to learn letters. This research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design using the Kemmis and McTaggart spiral model, and it was conducted in two cycles. The subjects consisted of 13 students from group B1, including 5 boys and 8 girls. Data collection instruments included observation, field notes, and documentation. The results showed a significant improvement in the children’s letter recognition skills through the use of the alphabet board. This improvement was evidenced by the increase in average scores and learning mastery percentages from the pre-cycle to the second cycle. The percentage of children in the pre-cycle reached 32.69%, in cycle I, the percentage increased to 56.25%, and in cycle II, it reached 87.19%. The alphabet board proved effective as it combined learning and play activities, which made children more enthusiastic and motivated in recognizing letters. This study offered practical contributions to early childhood education, particularly in the application of fun and educational media to enhance children's language development

Abstract

Symbolic thinking is a crucial ability in the cognitive development of early childhood, particularly in the 4–5-year age range. At this stage, children begin to recognize and use symbols such as numbers and letters in their daily activities. This study aims to describe the role of play-based media in stimulating the development of symbolic thinking in early childhood. The research was conducted at RA ABC in Tasikmalaya City using a descriptive qualitative approach through observation of children's play activities, interviews with teachers, and documentation of the learning process. The research subjects consisted of 12 children from Group A and two classroom teachers. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The results show that play media designed in an engaging and developmentally appropriate manner can effectively facilitate the gradual understanding of symbols. The children not only recognized the forms of symbols but also began to associate them with meaning or function within the context of play. These findings support Piaget's concept of symbolic representation and expand its application in early childhood education settings. The novelty of this study lies in the design of the symbol media, which integrates elements of numeracy and literacy into a unified play experience. The implications of these findings highlight the importance of developing a play-based early childhood curriculum, providing innovative and accessible media for teachers, and enhancing teacher capacity in facilitating symbolic learning in a joyful and meaningful way

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi dengan adanya penerapan karakter disiplin pada anak di KOBER Miftahul Falah Siti Maryam dalam penerapan karakter disiplin pada anak usia dini diperlukan sebuah model pembelajaran agar mencapai tujuan yaitu anak berkarakter disiplin, model pembelajaran yang digunakan guru dalam membina karakter disiplin pada anak di kelompok A KOBER Miftahul Falah Siti Maryam yaitu model pembiasaan. Pendekatan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode penelitian survey, desain penelitian yaitu studi kasus teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu teknik triangulasi data seperti observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Berdasarkan hasil observasi dan wawancara yang telah dilakukan, peneliti menemukan adanya perkembangan karakter disiplin yang cukup baik dan beragam. Perencanaan model pembelajaran pembiasaan dilakukan satu hari sebelum pembelajaran dilaksanakan. Sehingga dalam melaksanakan model pembiasaan guru hanya mengarahkan anak dalam berkegiatan dan guru tidak merasa kesulitan dalam penggunaan model pembelajaran yang digunakan.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the Strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile (P5) Project at Tunas Muda 1 Kindergarten to instill character values in early childhood. This study takes a qualitative approach, employing a case study method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature studies. The results show that performing arts activities are effective in instilling Pancasila values such as diversity, cooperation, and independence. The involvement of teachers, parents, and the school community is crucial for the success of this program. The P5 program can enhance children's cognitive and social skills. Evaluations indicate that this project-based learning method has a significant positive impact on children's development. Additionally, recommendations include improving school facilities and infrastructure, continuous training for teachers, developing more specific modules, and increasing parental involvement in school activities. The program is also recommended to be expanded to more schools across various regions to strengthen character education at the national level.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis persepsi orang tua tentang berhitung pada anak usia dini. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah studi literature review. Pada kajian literatur ini sumber yang digunakan merupakan data yang berasal dari artikel yang dipublikasikan dalam waktu 10 tahun terakhir terhitung dari bulan Januari 2014 hingga Desember 2023. Pencarian dalam penelitian ini menggunakan 1 jenis database yaitu Google Scholar. Kata kunci pencarian yang digunakan adalah "persepsi", "calistung", “berhitung” dan "anak usia dini" untuk memperoleh artikel yang relevan. Berdasarkan hasil analisis kajian beberapa sumber bacaan serta hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan sebelumnya. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa Orang tua murid menuntut guru untuk mengajarkan calistung pada anak-anak mereka dengan harapan untuk memenuhi syarat masuk kelembaga pendidikan sekolah dasar.

Abstract

Pentingnya pertumbuhan dan perkembangan anak usia dini diperlukan stimulus dan pemilihan model pembelajaran yang tepat. Salah satu hal yang penting untuk dikembangkan adalah kecerdasan visual spasial, dimana kecerdasan ini mampu melatih imajinasi, kreativitas dan problem solving anak. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif deskriptif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah anak usia 5-6 tahun di RA Al-Muttaqin Kota Tasikmalaya. Adapun untuk sampel dalam penelitian adalah kelompok B1 yang berjumlah 28 anak. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dan pengolahan data menggunakan Microsoft exel 2010. Adapun aspek yang diteliti yaitu pengimajinasian (imaging), pengkonsepan (conceptualizing), pemecahan masalah (problem solving) dan pencarian pola (pattern seeking). Berdasarkan hasil temuan, dapat diketahui bahwa kecerdasan visual spasial anak usia 5-6 tahun pada aktivitas sentra di RA Al-Muttaqin berada pada kategori BSB (Berkembang Sangat Baik) dengan jumlah skor 41,55. Sentra balok menjadi sentra dengan perkembangan tertinggi sedangkan sentra imtaq menjadi sentra dengan perkembangan terendah. Hal ini dikarenakan faktor fokus, kedisiplinan, dan kemampuan mengikuti instruksi selama kegiatan sentra.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan meningkatkan kemampuan mengenal lambang bilangan pada anak usia 4–5 tahun melalui media permainan ular tangga di RA At-Taufiq, Kota Tasikmalaya. Indikator yang diamati meliputi menyebut bilangan, menunjukkan lambang bilangan, mengurutkan lambang bilangan, mencocokkan jumlah benda dengan lambang bilangan, dan membedakan lambang bilangan. Metode yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) model Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart dengan tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 17 anak kelompok A. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Penelitian dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Hasil menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan mengenal lambang bilangan dari 42,05% pada pra tindakan, menjadi 64,70% pada siklus I, dan mencapai 81,76% pada siklus II. Melalui permainan ular tangga, anak belajar mengenal lambang bilangan secara aktif dan menyenangkan. Kesimpulannya, media ular tangga efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan mengenal simbol bilangan anak usia 4–5 tahun di RA At-Taufiq Tasikmalaya.
