Abstract

Purpose – In curriculum studies, teaching materials are fundamental components. In the context of Islamic education, especially in pondok pesantren, kitab kuning has long been the main reference, particularly in fiqh and uṣūl al-fiqh, that according to Bruinessen represents Shafi’i school. Yet in the last few decades, Islamic transnational movement that has introduced diverse schools of thought has entered Indonesia, potentially including the educational area. However, previous studies have not touched kitab kuning at pondok pesantren in particular. This study therefore examines whether Bruinessen’s finding regarding the dominance of Shafi’i school in fiqh and uṣūl al-fiqh remains valid at pondok pesantren in South Kalimantan or has shifted, especially concerning kitab kuning. Design/methods/approach – The study employed qualitative case study, with documentation and interview in data collection. Kyais and ustādhs at five pondok pesantren salafiyah, khalafiyah, and mixed across two regencies in South Kalimantan were involved. Miles’ and Huberman’s data analysis was followed while Lincoln and Guba’s trustworthiness in terms of triangulation of methods of data collection, sources of data, member checking, an audit trail, reflexivity, and thick description were used. Findings – The study concluded that salafiyah and mixed pondok pesantren continued to teach kitab kuning of the Shafi’i school as their teaching materials in fiqh and uṣūl al-fiqh. Although some new references were introduced, they were still in Shafi’i school. In addition, the kyais and ustādhs read kitab kuning from other schools, they did not teach them to their santris citing the absence of ijāzah, and to preserve Ahlussunnah wa al-jamā’ah. They studied those kitab kuning only for personal enrichment. At pondok pesantren khalafiyah, initially the santris studied fiqh from four schools of fiqh, however later they learnt solely Shafi’i school, as available ustadzs were trained in that school. Thus, Islamic transnational movement has not touched pondok pesantren’s teaching materials. Research implications – This study was limited to two regencies in South Kalimantan. For generalization, like Bruinessen’s research, broader study is required.

Abstract

Hadith instruction in Islamic education is still largely dominated by textual and normative approaches, which limit students’ contextual understanding and critical thinking skills. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of hermeneutical approaches in Hadith interpretation, to formulate a model for applying hermeneutics in Hadith instruction, and to examine its pedagogical implications for contemporary learning. This research employs a qualitative approach using library research methods, combined with hermeneutical, philosophical, and pedagogical analyses of recent Islamic and educational literature. The findings indicate that the hermeneutical approach emphasizes a dialogical relationship between the Hadith text, its historical context, and the reader’s horizon, enabling a more reflective and relevant understanding of Hadith. The application of hermeneutics in Hadith teaching can be operationalized through stages of pre-understanding, contextual analysis, dialogue between text and contemporary context, and critical reflection. Pedagogically, this approach implies a shift in learning objectives, dialogical teaching methods, and higher-order thinking-based assessment. This study contributes to the development of a contextual and adaptive model of Hadith instruction in contemporary Islamic education.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has encouraged the use of Learning Management Systems (LMS) in higher education, including in the teaching of the Qur’an and Hadith. However, LMS implementation in this context remains largely administrative and content-oriented, with limited pedagogical design to support meaningful learning engagement and value internalization. This study aims to formulate a conceptual design of an LMS-based e-learning platform for Qur’an and Hadith learning with pedagogically relevant interactive features. The study employs a qualitative approach using conceptual design research based on a literature review, synthesizing national and international publications from the last five years on e-learning, LMS, digital pedagogy, and Qur’an and Hadith education. The findings indicate that an effective LMS design for Qur’an and Hadith learning should be grounded in four key principles: pedagogical orientation, interactivity and learner engagement, contextualized learning feature design, and reflective assessment and feedback. The integration of these principles enables LMS to function as a digital pedagogical environment that supports understanding, reflection, and value transformation. This study contributes a conceptual framework that may serve as an initial reference for future development and research on technology-based Islamic learning.

Abstract

Pembelajaran Al-Qur’an Hadits di sekolah inklusif memerlukan bahan ajar yang mengakomodasi keragaman peserta didik, terutama anak berkebutuhan khusus (ABK), tanpa mengurangi capaian kompetensi inti. Artikel ini bertujuan merumuskan kerangka konseptual pengembangan bahan ajar Al-Qur’an Hadits berbasis Universal Design for Learning (UDL) untuk mendukung praktik pembelajaran inklusif. Metode penelitian menggunakan studi kepustakaan dengan menelaah literatur tentang pendidikan inklusif, karakteristik ABK, desain bahan ajar, serta prinsip-prinsip UDL. Hasil kajian merumuskan rancangan bahan ajar yang memetakan tiga prinsip UDL ke dalam komponen pembelajaran Al-Qur’an Hadits: (1) multiple means of engagement melalui pilihan aktivitas, penguatan regulasi diri, dukungan sosial, dan strategi motivasional; (2) multiple means of representation melalui variasi penyajian materi berupa teks ringkas-terstruktur, visual pendukung, serta alternatif audio; dan (3) multiple means of action and expression melalui ragam bentuk respons dan asesmen (lisan, visual, praktik, proyek, serta tugas berbantuan) yang memungkinkan diferensiasi sesuai profil kebutuhan belajar. Kerangka ini menegaskan bahwa UDL meningkatkan aksesibilitas materi, memperluas peluang partisipasi, dan memperkuat keterlibatan belajar ABK pada pembelajaran Al-Qur’an Hadits.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP) mata pelajaran Al-Qur’an Hadist yang mengintegrasikan nilai karakter kejujuran dan amanah melalui kearifan lokal Melayu, yang bersumber pada Tunjuk Ajar Melayu karya Tenas Effendy. Masalah utama dalam pembelajaran Al-Qur’an Hadist saat ini adalah penyampaian materi yang cenderung teoretis sehingga nilai-nilai moral sulit terinternalisasi dalam perilaku siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan model pengembangan ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa integrasi filosofi Melayu "Adat Bersendi Syarak, Syarak Bersendi Kitabullah" dalam Rencana Pelaksanan Pembelajaran mampu mengubah teks agama yang kurang di mengerti menjadi panduan perilaku yang konkret bagi siswa. Melalui butir-butir Tunjuk Ajar seperti "sejalur kata dengan hati", siswa lebih mudah memahami hakikat kejujuran sebagai bagian dari menjaga marwah diri. Validasi ahli dan uji coba lapangan menunjukkan bahwa Rencana Pembelajaran ini efektif meningkatkan keterlibatan emosional dan komitmen perilakujujur dan amanah siswa. Kesimpulannya, penggunaan kearifan lokal dalam perangkat pembelajaran PAI tidak hanya memperkuat pemahaman keagamaan, sekaligus melestarikan identitas budaya sebagai instrumen pembentuk karakter mulia di era modern.
