Abstract

Background: In this day and age, hectic work schedules and daily routines have an impact on household consumption patterns and lifestyles. This is especially true in Indonesia and many other countries where people are shifting from preparing their own food to buying fast food. Purpose: To determine the reasons why families eat fast food, examine those reasons, and calculate the direct and indirect consequences of those reasons. Design/methodology/approach: Using a purposive sample approach and direct and online surveys, the study was carried out in 2023 on 1021 respondents in Pekanbaru City, Riau specifically, and Indonesia in general. Using the SEM-PLS analysis tool, a descriptive quantitative analysis method is used. Findings/Result: The study's findings indicate that a variety of interrelated elements, including cultural, personal, psychological, social, economic, and place-related aspects, have an impact on households' intake of fast food. The elements that have an impact on household decisions to consume fast food are described together with their relationship and influence, based on multiple direction connections. Conclusion: In summary Decisions on how much fast food to eat are heavily influenced by social and individual factors. This demonstrates how the decision to purchase fast food is influenced by factors such as household identity, social environment, and social media environment. Originality/value (State of the art): Research can reveal a true picture of the interactions between variables that have not been seen in earlier studies, offering managerial implications and contributions to the formulation of policies that directly affect Indonesia's fast-food industry. Abstract

The implementation of Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) has become a strategic issue for both public and private sector organizations in improving organizational productivity and effectiveness. However, the success of D&I implementation largely depends on the Human Resource Management (HRM) strategies applied. This study aims to analyze HRM strategies in realizing Diversity & Inclusion in public and private organizations in Pekanbaru. The HRM strategies examined include aligning D&I with organizational strategy, implementing fair recruitment and selection policies, providing D&I awareness training and development, creating an inclusive work culture, and monitoring and evaluating D&I initiatives. This research employed a quantitative, descriptive method with multiple linear regression analysis. The sample consisted of 150 employees and organizational leaders selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings indicate that HRM strategies have a significant effect on the successful implementation of D&I, with fair recruitment and selection policies and an inclusive work culture identified as the most influential factors. Meanwhile, D&I training and development, as well as monitoring and evaluation efforts, still require further improvement. This study concludes that aligning HRM strategies with D&I principles is essential for creating inclusive and productive organizations.

Abstract

Digitalization has transformed career development in modern work environments. This study investigates the effect of big data in human resources technology and personalized learning paths on career development, with employee engagement as a mediating variable, using freelancers on the Fiverr platform as the research context. Employing a quantitative research design and Structural Equation Modeling with SmartPLS, data were collected from 100 respondents recruited through active Fiverr communities on social media. The results reveal that big data in human resources technology significantly influences career development directly and indirectly through employee engagement. Similarly, personalized learning paths indirectly enhance career development by fostering higher employee engagement, although the direct effect was not significant. These findings underscore the critical role of engagement in bridging innovative human resources practices and career outcomes. The study contributes to the existing body of knowledge by providing empirical evidence on the interconnectedness of advanced human resources technologies, engagement, and career growth in the digital era. Practical implications highlight the need for organizations to prioritize engagement-driven strategies and integrate advanced technologies to empower employees. Future research should explore these relationships in diverse cultural and industrial contexts to enhance the generalizability of the findings.
