Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way universities learn. Teaching and learning activities that usually take place face-to-face have evolved into virtual meetings in various online learning applications. This paper aims to analyze the resilience of students in handling online English courses from a perspective or from the perspective of coping with online learning challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. This document collects 20 students who are actively participating in online learning activities as an example for the "Teaching English as a Foreign Language" course. Online learning offers a variety of teacher-led instruction. Instructions can be synchronous (communications where participants interact simultaneously, such as video conferencing, Zoom, Google Meet, and WebEx) or asynchronous (time-separated communications, such as email, Google Forms, streaming video content, posting handouts) and social media platforms). This study adopts a qualitative method. The researchers collected, read and highlighted each student's responses that were deemed relevant to the analysis. This article gives many answers to the challenges students face in online learning such as: skills, finding online learning media.

Abstract

This paper is entitled “Metaphors Analysis In Lyrics Of Coldplay’s Songs” discusses about the types of metaphor found in this songs. In this paper, the writer used library research method by collected metaphor data then analysed and determined the most dominant. This study uses the theory of Parera who classified metaphor into anthropomorphic metaphor, animal metaphor, a metaphor from concrete to abstract, and synesthetic metaphor.In these three selected songs of coldplay’s song, the writer found 14 metaphor consist of 5 Anthropomorphic Metaphor, 2 Animal Metaphor, 2 A Metaphor From Concrete To Abstract, and 6 Synesthetic Metaphor. Synesthetic Metaphor turns out to be the most dominant while Animal Metaphor and A Metaphor From Concrete To Abstract is the least.

Abstract

The utilization of technology in educational settings, particularly in the context of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instruction, exerts a substantial influence on students' writing abilities. This research study undertakes a comprehensive analysis of the impact of Technology Assisted Language Learning (TALL) on the writing proficiency of EFL students in Indonesia. The study is informed by a systematic review of diverse studies conducted over the past decade. The primary focus of this analysis is to examine how technological tools enhance students' writing abilities. The findings indicate that TALL enhances writing proficiency through interactive learning, prompt feedback, and collaborative activities. However, the study also identifies challenges, including a lack of teacher preparation and limited access to technology. The study's conclusion emphasizes that while TALL offers numerous benefits, addressing these issues is crucial to maximize its efficacy. Recommendations for optimizing TALL include increased investment in technology infrastructure, professional development for educators, and integration of TALL in the curriculum.

Abstract

This research aims to explore teachers' perspectives regarding the use of mobile learning (m-learning) in English classes. The method used in this research is qualitative with a case study design to explore the use of mobile learning (m-learning) in English classes. Data collection was carried out through 1. Semi-structured interviews. 2 Class Observations 3 Questionnaires were distributed to students to collect data about perceptions, 4. Relevant documentation, such as lesson plans, digital learning materials, technology-based assignments, and evaluation reports, was analyzed to complement the data obtained from interviews and observations. The results of research conducted on teachers' perspectives regarding the use of Mobile Learning in the Classroom can be concluded that the majority of teachers have a positive view of the integration of technology in teaching and learning activities. They feel technology can help create a more interactive, interesting and efficient learning environment. Technology is considered to facilitate access to various learning resources and facilitate collaborative communication between students and teachers.

Abstract

Program KKN MAS (Kuliah Kerja Nyata Muhammadiyah Aisyiyah) bertema Edukasi Menabung Usia Dini Serta Mengembangkan Kreativitas pada Anak-Anak dilaksanakan di Sekolah Dasar Negeri 013 Buatan 1, Kecamatan Koto Gasib, Kabupaten Siak, Provinsi Riau. Latar belakang kegiatan ini adalah rendahnya kebiasaan menabung pada siswa yang cenderung membelanjakan uang jajan secara konsumtif dan kurang memahami manfaat menabung. Tujuan program ini adalah menanamkan kebiasaan menabung sejak dini serta mengembangkan kreativitas anak melalui kegiatan membuat dan menghias celengan. Metode pelaksanaan dilakukan melalui sosialisasi interaktif dengan poster edukatif, praktik langsung pembuatan celengan sederhana, serta kuis singkat untuk menguji pemahaman siswa. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman siswa mengenai pentingnya menabung. Sebelum program dilaksanakan, sebagian besar siswa belum mengetahui manfaat menabung, namun setelah kegiatan mereka mampu memahami nilai positifnya seperti melatih kedisiplinan, mengurangi ketergantungan pada orang tua, dan mempersiapkan kebutuhan masa depan. Selain itu, aktivitas menghias celengan berhasil menumbuhkan kreativitas sekaligus rasa kepemilikan siswa terhadap hasil karyanya. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan ini menunjukan  bahwa edukasi finansial dapat diintegrasikan dengan aktivitas kreatif sehingga lebih mudah dipahami anak-anak. Program ini berkontribusi positif dalam membentuk karakter disiplin, tanggung jawab, dan kemandirian sejak usia dini serta dapat dijadikan model pembelajaran tematik berbasis pengalaman di sekolah dasar.

Abstract

Di zaman modern, banyak remaja mulai menggunakan media sosial, yang memiliki manfaat tetapi juga bahaya, terutama bagi pengguna baru. Siswa yang tidak mahir menggunakan media digital dapat menghadapi masalah seperti pelecehan online, penyebaran hoaks, dan penyalahgunaan data pribadi. Tim Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) Muhammadiyah Aisyiyah (MAs) melakukan program sosialisasi tentang bahaya media sosial di SMPN 03 Dayun, Desa Buana Makmur, Kecamatan Dayun, Kabupaten Siak, Riau. Tujuan kegiatan adalah untuk meningkatkan pemahaman siswa tentang efek negatif media sosial dan memberikan tips menghindari ancaman digital. Untuk mengukur pemahaman, dilakukan melalui presentasi interaktif, diskusi, dan kuesioner yang disiapkan sebelumnya. Kegiatan tersebut diikuti oleh 55 siswa kelas IX. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman siswa, 100% siswa merasa lebih memahami dampak positif dan negatif media sosial, 96% menyadari bahwa penggunaan media sosial yang berlebihan dapat mengganggu belajar, dan 96% juga berniat mengurangi durasi penggunaan media sosial. Terbukti bahwa kegiatan ini efektif dalam meningkatkan literasi digital siswa. Ini juga dapat berfungsi sebagai program pencegahan berkelanjutan disekolah. Sekolah harus memasukkan literasi digital ke dalam pelajaran, mendidik guru tentang penggunaan media sosial, dan melibatkan orang tua untuk memantau penggunaan gawai siswa. Dengan tindakan terus-menerus ini, remaja dapat mengurangi risiko teknologi sambil membangun budaya penggunaan media sosial yang sehat.
