Abstract

Green Companies are a necessity for businesses to ensure sustainability in environmental management, preventing pollution and environmental damage during construction, production, or when products or services are used by customers, even up to the point of disposal. To provide satisfaction to tourists, tourist attractions must have adequate facilities to support the needs of tourists during their visit and to fulfill their expectations. Green industries and tourism play a crucial role in local economic development and environmental conservation. This study aims to provide assistance to green industries and tourism facilities in Kampung Batik Malon, focusing on sustainable development and empowerment of the local community. Assistance is provided through skills training to improve the quality of batik products and introduce environmentally friendly production techniques. In addition, the development of tourism facilities, such as homestays based on local culture and interactive batik galleries, is implemented to enhance the attractiveness of the tourist destination. Local community empowerment is carried out through participation in the decision-making process and the establishment of cooperatives to improve market access. The assistance also involves a sustainable approach to managing industrial waste and promoting environmentally friendly practices. The results of this assistance implementation show a significant increase in the quality of batik products, an increase in the number of tourist visits, and an increase in the income of the local community. Additionally, Kampung Batik Malon has successfully reduced its environmental impact through more sustainable production practices. Therefore, this activity contributes to sustainable development by demonstrating that the integration of green industries and tourism can be a successful model for strengthening the local economy while preserving the environment. Furthermore, this research provides guidance for other villages that wish to adopt a similar approach in developing the local potential of tourist attractions.

Abstract

Recent advances in technology-enhanced language learning (TELL) emphasize innovative methods to improve speaking skills in English for specific purposes (ESP) classes, particularly for Law students. However, research comparing the effectiveness of digital storytelling (DST) and video-assisted instruction (VAI) in developing speaking performance remains limited, particularly in relation to students' self-regulated learning (SRL) levels. This study explores the impact of DST and VAI on speaking performance across SRL levels through a quasi-experimental research design. A total of 48 undergraduate ESP students majoring in Law at a private university in Indonesia were categorized into higher and lower self-regulation groups. The data were collected through an SRL questionnaire and speaking tests and analyzed using two-way ANOVA and independent samples t-tests. The results revealed that students in the DST group significantly outperformed those in the VAI group (Sig. = 0.009). However, no significant interaction effect was found between SRL, instructional approach, and speaking proficiency. The finding implies that DST enhances speaking proficiency by combining structured oral production with creative narrative development, requiring students to rehearse, refine, and integrate linguistic elements in an authentic context. EFL teachers should integrate DST in their classes to improve communication skills in professional and academic settings.

The rapid growth of Indonesia's tourism industry demands the availability of professional human resources with competencies that are in accordance with the needs of the world of work. In response to these challenges, the Indonesian College of Tourism Economics (STIEPARI) Semarang has established a strategic collaboration with Mahsa University Malaysia in implementing a community service program that focuses on improving student readiness through competency tests and curriculum alignment based on industry needs. This program is carried out through a series of activities, including career development seminars, professional certification training, curriculum evaluation workshops, and direct visits to various tourism industry institutions. This approach aims to strengthen students' practical skills, increase confidence, and encourage active involvement in the practice-based learning process. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in students' readiness to face the world of work, both from technical aspects and soft skills. The curriculum is evaluated and harmonized to become more relevant, flexible, and responsive to the dynamics of the global tourism industry. In addition, this program strengthens the implementation of the Independent Learning-Independent Campus (MBKM) policy by providing space for students to learn directly from the world of work and build professional networks. The implications of this activity are not only improving the quality of graduates, but also strengthening the position of higher education institutions in building sustainable international partnerships. This cross-country collaboration is a model for the development of tourism education that is adaptive, innovative, and oriented to industry needs, while supporting national competitiveness in the tourism sector.

Abstract

This investigation examines consumer perceptions and green marketing practices in Semarang, with a particular emphasis on the use of English in promoting environmentally responsible products. Interviews with company representatives and focus group discussions with consumers are employed as qualitative research methods. The research indicates that companies have implemented a diverse array of green marketing practices; however, there are still deficiencies in their consistent and effective implementation. Green marketing practices are generally well-received by consumers, who are influenced by factors such as environmental awareness, prices, product quality, and confidence in companies' environmentally friendly claims. Diverse perceptions are generated by the utilization of English in promotional materials, with some individuals expressing apprehensions regarding potential confusion, while others find it effective in improving the product's image. The study enhances comprehension of ecological marketing strategies, and the necessity of more balanced approaches and integrated strategies in marketing communication is underscored, as well as consumer perceptions in Indonesia. Theoretical implications encompass the necessity of incorporating contextual factors into global marketing theory and the endorsement of the theory of planned behavior.  The research's limitations include the necessity for further exploration and the limited generalization, as well as recommendations for future research.
