Abstract

This study investigates the representation of time in Joe Wright’s film ’Atonement’ (2007), exploring the complex ways cinema can portray temporal experiences. While time manipulation in the film has been widely studied, ’Atonement’ offers a unique case study in its intricate layering of temporal elements. The research aims to analyze how various cinematic techniques in ’Atonement’ contribute to its representation of time and memory. Employing a descriptive-qualitative method with semiotic analysis, this study examines five key aspects: non-linear narrative structure, dual perspective and metafiction, the long take in the Dunkirk scene, representation of historical periods, and the use of sound and music. The findings reveal that ’Atonement’ utilizes a sophisticated interplay of narrative, visual, and auditory elements to create a multifaceted temporal experience. The film’s non-linear structure, meticulous recreation of historical periods, and innovative sound design challenge traditional notions of cinematic time. This innovative approach effectively addresses the research aim by demonstrating how ’Atonement’ uses various cinematic techniques to construct a complex temporal narrative. This research contributes to understanding how cinema can represent complex temporal narratives, offering insights for film studies and narrative theory.

The findings reveal a strategic bilingual approach, with 42.3% English, 53.7% Indonesian, and 4.0% mixed language use overall. Significant variations were observed across digital platforms, industry sectors, and content types. Websites and app descriptions showed higher English usage, while social media favored Indonesians. Technology and fintech startups used more English (56.8%), contrasting with education and healthcare startups' preference for Indonesian (70.4%). Theoretically, this study contributes to understanding of strategic bilingualism and linguistic adaptation in digital marketing by demonstrating how language choices reflect both global aspirations and local market demands. Empirically, the findings reveal that Indonesian startups employ a systematic approach to language selection across different platforms and sectors, with technology companies favoring English (56.8%) while education and healthcare sectors predominantly use Indonesian (70.4%), indicating a careful balance between international reach and local engagement in their digital marketing strategies.

Abstract

This study explores the emerging phenomenon of AI-generated literature and its implications for creative writing, focusing on the characteristics of AI-generated texts, the impact of AI-human collaboration on the creative process, and the challenges posed by these technologies for traditional concepts of authorship, originality, and creativity. Through a comparative analysis of selected AI-generated literary works and a case study of the "Pharmako-AI" project, this research reveals the distinct stylistic, thematic, and structural features of AI-generated literature, as well as the complex dynamics of AI-human collaboration in the creative process. The findings suggest that while AI can serve as a powerful tool for creative exploration and experimentation, it also has limitations in terms of consistency, coherence, and emotional depth, and requires significant human input and judgment to shape the final literary output. The study contributes to the understanding of AI in creative writing by providing concrete insights into the capabilities and limitations of these technologies, and by highlighting the need for new frameworks and models to understand the nature of creative agency in the age of AI. The implications of AI-generated literature for the field of literature and future literary practices are discussed, including the potential for new forms of literary expression, new modes of authorship and collaboration, and new challenges to traditional concepts of originality and creativity. The study concludes with recommendations for future research, emphasizing the need for interdisciplinary collaboration and the development of new theoretical and methodological approaches to analyze and evaluate AI-generated literature.

Abstract

Generation Z as digital natives have unique food consumption patterns that potentially influence national food security. This study aims to analyze Generation Z's consumption patterns and perceptions of food security and develop a conceptual framework to optimize their participation. Using a mixed method approach, the research was conducted on 150 STIEPARI Semarang students through online surveys, digital food diaries (30 respondents), Focus Group Discussions (32 participants), and in-depth interviews (10 informants). Data were analyzed using descriptive-inferential statistics and thematic content analysis with phenomenological approach. Results show 73.3% of respondents prefer practical food with fast food consumption frequency of 4.2 times per week and 45.7% make purchases through online platforms. Despite limited conceptual understanding of food security (70% of informants), Generation Z demonstrates high environmental awareness (78.7%) and optimism towards technological solutions (89.2%). Structural Equation Modeling identifies social media influence as the dominant factor (β = 0.387) affecting consumption behavior. The developed Consumer-Centric Food Security Framework for Generation Z integrates four dimensions: Digital Influence, Sustainability Consciousness, Convenience Orientation, and Technology Optimism. This framework provides strategic guidance to optimize Generation Z's role in food security through digital approaches and technology-based programs.
