Abstract

Abstract

The rising incidence of filariasis cases necessitates heightened vigilance, particularly given the limited public awareness about this disease. This study aims to explore community knowledge and attitudes regarding filariasis in Jayawijaya Regency, Papua. Utilizing a sequential explanatory mixed-methods design, the research population comprised all household heads in Itanggen Village, Wolo District. A total of 34 household heads participated as informants, representing each family unit. Data collection employed structured questionnaires followed by in-depth interviews. Findings revealed that 3 filariasis cases was found, accounting for 38.2% (n=13) of respondents demonstrated good knowledge about filariasis, while 61.8% (n=21) showed inadequate understanding. Regarding preventive attitudes, 55.9% (n=19) exhibited positive attitudes toward filariasis prevention, whereas 44.1% (n=15) displayed less favorable attitudes. However, there was no significant relationship between community knowledge and filariasis case (p value=0.729). Also, there was no significant relationship between community attitude and filariasis incident (p value=0.830). These results highlight critical gaps in filariasis knowledge despite moderately positive preventive attitudes, suggesting the need for targeted health education interventions in this endemic region. The study provides valuable baseline data for public health planning in Papua's filariasis control programs.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the implementation pattern of CBT Public Health Science tutoring for the Doctoral Professional Program Student Competency Test for medical students at Cenderawasih University, Jayapura. This research is a qualitative descriptive study with a total of 12 informants from the Faculty of Medicine, Uncen. The research results showed that the implementation of Public Health Tutoring had gone well but was not optimal due to the short implementation time. The Public Health Study Guidance Method required by students is the lecture method of providing material, learning modules and practice questions on the Student Competency Test for the Medical Professional Program. Tutoring student attendance tends to be low due to the long distance from home, untimely schedules and uncomfortable tutoring rooms. The very satisfactory Cumulative Achievement Index of tutoring students is not directly proportional to the low pretest-posttest of Public Health Tutoring and low Competency Test passing results.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze utilization behavior service health, Ilaga District Community Health Center, Puncak Regency, Central Papua Province. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative. Data was obtained using interviews and analyzed qualitatively. The results of the research showed that people seeking treatment in the Ilaga District used the Community Health Center as a place for treatment and as a referral place to other health service institutions (referrals) so that the community was enthusiastic in utilizing the Community Health Center services. Not all people have health insurance due to low knowledge and lack of support from health workers in assisting health services in arranging membership for the National Health Insurance Social Security Administering Body (BPJS). Security disturbances disrupt the accessibility of community health services in the event of conflict, especially from armed criminal groups.
