Abstract

Through Presidential Regulation No. 82 of 2018, concerning Health Insurance in article 48, one of the benefits of promotive preventive services is health history screening services. Health history screening abbreviated as SRK is a preventive effort that can detect participants with a potential risk of diabetes, hypertension, kidney failure and coronary heart disease. This SRK filling activity is very beneficial for JKN participants, one of which is that they can find out the potential risk of disease as early as possible for themselves and their family members. Some people still have minimal knowledge about the Mobile JKN application, there are several obstacles in the community, especially the elderly who experience either a lack of smartphones or a lack of understanding of how to use the Mobile JKN application, so these obstacles are the main problems that occur in the Marpoyan Damai area, especially in the Jl. nurul. The aim of the activity is to increase the public's insight and knowledge regarding how to use and benefit the Mobile JKN application in health history screening. In this case, the service team will provide education and assistance with health screening through the BPJS application as an effort to prevent disease. The location for this activity will be carried out in one of the neighborhoods in Pekanbaru City, namely the RT 01 RW 21 Tangkerang Tengah neighborhood, Pekanbaru City. The aim is that after this community service is carried out, it can improve the level of public health through health screening in the application and also increase the knowledge of the community in the area regarding the use of family medicinal plants (herbal medicine)

Abstract

This study focuses on developing the traditional Kemojo cake by enhancing its protein content using locally sourced ingredients available in Kelurahan Melebung. Traditionally known as a carbohydrate- and fat-rich delicacy, Kemojo has been innovated by incorporating protein-rich ingredients such as nuts, seed-based flours, and other local protein sources. The use of local materials aims not only to improve the cake's nutritional value but also to utilize natural resources, support food security, and boost the local economy by promoting healthier food products. This initiative seeks to introduce Kemojo as a more nutritious traditional food alternative suitable for all age groups, including children, adolescents, and the elderly, who require higher protein intake. The improved nutritional value can play a significant role in addressing daily nutritional needs and reducing malnutrition, particularly in vulnerable regions. Additionally, utilizing local ingredients contributes to strengthening the local economy by empowering farmers and supporting food processing industries based on regional resources.

Abstract

Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes mellitus and dyslipidemia have become a major public health challenge. The increasing prevalence of NCDs is largely influenced by unhealthy lifestyles, including high consumption of fatty and sugary foods, lack of physical activity, and low awareness of routine health check-ups. Early detection and health education play a crucial role in preventing NCD-related complications. This study aims to identify blood glucose and cholesterol levels among the community in Kampung Bandar Village and provide health education on healthy lifestyles. A descriptive quantitative method was applied to 50 respondents using random blood glucose and total cholesterol examinations. The results showed that the majority of respondents were categorized as prediabetes to diabetes for blood glucose levels, and borderline high to high for cholesterol levels. The health education emphasized the importance of balanced diet, regular exercise, and periodic health check-ups. This activity is expected to increase community awareness of the importance of early detection and lifestyle modification in preventing NCDs.

Abstract

Background: In 2021, there were 19.5 million diagnosed cases of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) in Indonesia. In Riau Province, T2DM ranked fifth among the most common conditions treated at community health centers in 2022. Obesity, a major risk factor for T2DM, had a national adult prevalence of 21.8% (Riskesdas 2018) and 24.1% in Riau. At Puskesmas Karya Wanita, 483 new T2DM cases were recorded in 2024, with 434 patients having a BMI ≥ 25 kg/m². The productive age group is particularly at risk for obesity and T2DM, yet screening remains suboptimal. Therefore, research on the relationship between obesity and T2DM at this primary healthcare facility is essential. Objective: To determine the association between obesity and the incidence of T2DM among individuals of productive age at Puskesmas Rawat Inap Karya Wanita, Pekanbaru. Methods: This was a quantitative analytic observational study with a cross-sectional design. The sample included productive age outpatients at the general clinic of Puskesmas Karya Wanita, selected using quota sampling. Data were analyzed using univariate, bivariate (Chi-square test), and Odds Ratio analyses. Results: A significant association was found between obesity and T2DM (p = 0.0029), with an Odds Ratio of 4.517.Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between obesity and T2DM in the productive age group. Individuals with obesity are 4.517 times more likely to develop T2DM compared to those without obesity.

Abstract

Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) health is an essential component of adolescents’ well-being and learning performance; however, health literacy related to ENT care among senior high school students remains limited. This community service activity aimed to improve students’ knowledge and basic ENT skills at SMA Negeri 9 Pekanbaru through skill lab–based learning as a school health promotion strategy. The program was conducted through theoretical education covering basic ENT anatomy and common ENT disorders among adolescents, followed by hands-on training in simple ENT examinations using demonstration and direct practice with learning aids. Evaluation was carried out using pre-test and post-test assessments to measure knowledge improvement, as well as direct observation to assess students’ practical skills. The results demonstrated a clear increase in students’ knowledge after the intervention, along with improved ability to perform basic ENT examinations under instructor guidance. Students also showed better understanding of early signs of ENT disorders and appropriate preventive behaviors. Participation and enthusiasm during the activities were high, and most students reported that the program was beneficial and relevant to their daily experiences. This activity also supported the School Health Unit (UKS) program and strengthened collaboration between the school and the university. In conclusion, skill lab–based basic ENT training is an effective promotive and preventive approach to enhancing ENT health literacy and basic clinical skills among senior high school students.
