Abstract

The importance of mastering English for students is something that needs to be considered, both by teaching staff and students themselves. This is because the ever-growing advances in science and technology require individuals to be able to master English language skills. This Community Service activity aims to provide training so that students can increase learning motivation, self-confidence, hone skills, increase knowledge and improve integrated abilities in English. Activities were carried out at the Muhammadiyah University of Jambi. This activity is aimed at students who are interested and want to improve their English language skills as many as 23 students. This English training received a positive response from students. It can also be concluded that this activity was successful and successful. This can be seen from changes in students' behavior and attitudes in dealing with English. Students begin to be confident and attractive in communicating using English.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the beginning reading skills of grade II students of SD Negeri No. 112/VI Rantau Kermas, Jangkat District, by applying the global method. The global method is used because it provides a learning approach that starts from the introduction of sentences as a whole before students learn words and letters separately. The subjects of this study were students of elementary school class NO 112/VI Rantau Kermas, Jangkat District, 2024/2025 school year with a total of 15 students, consisting of 5 male students and 10 female students. This class action research was carried out in two cycles, where each cycle consisted of two meetings. The research instruments used include observation sheets of educator activities, observation sheets of student learning activities, and learning outcomes tests at the end of each cycle. The results showed a significant improvement in students' beginning reading skills from Cycle I to Cycle II. In Cycle I, the average student learning completeness reached 60.87%, while in Cycle II it increased to 82.61%. In addition, the observation results showed an increase in student learning activities as well as educators' performance in implementing learning with the global method. The percentage of students in the “Very Good” category increased from 26.09% in Cycle I to 52.17% in Cycle II, with no students in the “Poor” category at the end of the study.

Abstract

The aim of the study was to analyze the impact of social media on the student’s academic achievement. The survey research method was used. Subjects were drawn from the second year students of Elementary Teacher Education Department in STKIP Muhammadiyah Muara Bungo The researcher adopted Kendall’s coefficient of concordance and factor analysis as analytical tools for the study. A survey design provides a quantitative description of the population that is sampled through the data collection process. The study also employed the questionnaire as the data collection instrument for the study. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to analyze the data collected. The descriptive analysis tools in the SPSS were employed to develop tables and frequencies which were constructively analyzed. The result revealed that majority of respondents used whatsapp and facebook to find new friends and application for communication. Furthermore, majority of respondents experienced negative effects such as late submission of assignment, less study time and poor academic achievement due to the heavy participation on social media networks. Therefore, there were cases where others experienced improvement in their reading skill as a result of participation on social media networks. Also respondents shared ideas, discussed and shared examination among them on social media network.

Abstract

This study analyzes the relationship between character education and children's mental resilience in the era of artificial intelligence, focusing on protective factors and developing an integrative conceptual model. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach with the PRISMA protocol, 144 articles from Scopus-indexed journals published between 2020 and 2025 were screened, and 15 relevant studies met the inclusion criteria. The study results indicate that character education plays a strategic role in strengthening children's resilience through the values of self-regulation, empathy, responsibility, solidarity, and the search for meaning in life. Identified protective factors include positive parent-child bonds, peer support, family resilience, and community involvement, while risk factors include device dependence, family conflict, poverty, and parental stress. The proposed conceptual model emphasizes a holistic, differentiated, and multilevel approach with simultaneous involvement of schools, families, and communities. The findings of the majority of studies confirm that character education not only shapes morality but also functions as an ecosystem strategy to strengthen children's mental resilience in facing digital and social challenges in the era of artificial intelligence. This study recommends the development of a multidimensional resilience theoretical framework, its integration into the curriculum

Abstract

Studi ini bertujuan agar dapat melakukan analisis terhadap strategi pembelajaran ansambel angklung dalam menaikkan interaksi sosial siswa inklusi di SMP Negeri 2 Parung, dengan fokus pada proses, strategi, dan perkembangan sosial siswa. Studi ini menerapkan metode studi literatur dengan mengumpulkan data dari buku, jurnal, dan publikasi relevan. Teori serta konsep yang melandasi studi ini yaitu pembelajaran ansambel angklung, proses interaksi sosial, strategi serta pendekatan berdasarkan teori interaksi sosial, peran teman sebaya, orangtua maupun guru. Studi ini disusun dengan menerapkan metode studi literatur Teknik pengumpulan data yang dipakai berupa buku, jurnal, dan terbitan-terbitan lain yang berkaitan dengan topik penelitian.Temuan menunjukkan bahwa interaksi sosial terbentuk secara efektif melalui komunikasi intensif, proses pembelajaran, dan dinamika kelompok teman sebaya. Meskipun terdapat faktor penghambat berupa penolakan sosial dan konflik, faktor penunjang misalnya penerimaan sosial serta manajemen sekolah yang baik lebih dominan. Implikasi utama dari strategi ini adalah terbentuknya empati, kerjasama tim, serta peningkatan prestasi siswa.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi digital menghadirkan peluang sekaligus tantangan dalam pembelajaran seni budaya di sekolah menengah kejuruan (SMK). Seni tradisional, termasuk pupuh Sunda, kerap mengalami penurunan minat belajar karena dianggap kurang relevan dengan karakteristik peserta didik vokasional. Hadirnya Pupuh raehan karya Yus Wiradiredja dalam repertoar pupuh Sunda adalah salah satu karya inovasi yang mencoba memberikan alternatif agar Pupuh Sunda Kembali eksis dan diminati oleh siswa. Perlu adanya strategi dan inovasi agar seni tradisional termasuk pupuh sunda dapat eksis kembali di masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis penerapan model pembelajaran digital-interaktif berbasis Pupuh Raehan dalam penguatan identitas budaya siswa SMK. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain deskriptif-analitis. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas X program keahlian Perhotelan di SMK KP Baros Arjasari Kabupaten Bandung. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran digital-interaktif berbasis Pupuh Raehan mampu meningkatkan keterlibatan dan apresiasi siswa terhadap seni pupuh Sunda. Integrasi media digital menjadikan proses pembelajaran lebih kontekstual, partisipatif, dan sesuai dengan karakteristik generasi digital. Selain meningkatkan motivasi belajar, model ini berkontribusi pada penguatan identitas budaya siswa melalui pemahaman nilai-nilai budaya lokal yang terkandung dalam Pupuh Raehan. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan pengembangan model pembelajaran seni berbasis budaya lokal yang adaptif terhadap teknologi sebagai upaya revitalisasi seni tradisional dalam pendidikan vokasional.

Abstract

Contemporary formal theatre arts education tends to focus on conventional techniques and rigid scripts, which significantly limit students' exploration, creativity, and spontaneity at the secondary school level. Consequently, students' self-confidence and self-expression are often sub-optimally developed. This study aims to develop and validate structured improvisation techniques within the theatre arts curriculum to enhance students' self-expression, employing a Research and Development (R&D) approach with a case study location at a private Christian Junior High School (SMPK Swasta) in Jakarta. Qualitative methods, including participatory observation and in-depth interviews, were utilized, with data analysis conducted through the Miles & Huberman model. The intervention focused on the "Practice – Express – Reflect – Revise" Cycle Model, integrating Spolin's Theater Games with local Ketoprak wisdom adaptations: the "Kata Berkait" (Chain Word) and "Udar Rasa" (Airing of Emotion) techniques. Findings indicate that the structured implementation of improvisation techniques successfully enhanced students' verbal and non-verbal expression, spontaneity, and self-confidence significantly. This reflective learning model proved effective in overcoming performative anxiety and curricular rigidity, serving as a vital "expression laboratory" for 21st-century soft skill development. It is recommended that improvisation be integrated as a core component of the theatre arts curriculum to foster a more authentic and empowering learning experience.

Abstract

This academic article seeks to address the relevance crisis in education, which is reflected in the declining engagement of lower secondary students, by integrating the Deep Learning (DL) framework and the six Global Competencies (6Cs). DL provides a systemic response to developing the potential of all learners, particularly those at the junior secondary level who are prone to disengagement. The learning models employed is Project-Based Learning (PBL), framed within the Collaborative Inquiry cycle, and supported by a cloud-based collaborative Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) application, such as Soundtrap. This approach aligns with the DL principle of Leveraging Digital, ensuring technology serves as an inclusive learning accelerator, supporting the equity hypothesis by being accessible across various devices. Impact measurement focuses on enhancing Creativity and Collaboration. Creativity is assessed based on the originality of composition and sound design, while Collaboration is evaluated by the quality of constructive peer-review interactions and active multi-track contributions within the DAW. Academic rigor is ensured through the use of New Measures (Learning Progressions rubrics) validated via the Collaborative Moderation process. These exploratory findings indicate that digital music PBL is highly effective in transforming student roles into co-designers and activators, yielding measurable gains in both key competencies. This conclusion affirms the role of collaborative technology as a DL catalyst, providing practical implications for the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in achieving measurable 21st-century skill goals

Abstract

Speaking is one of the skills that have to be mastered by students in learning English. Speaking is an essential tool for communicating. In the classroom, improving the speaking abilities of students has always been a concern. In the fast developing 21st century various innovative technologies are being introduced to teach speaking skill in the classrooms. Technology is the vehicle to get access with this modernized world. More than the process of communication, trade and transactions, today technology is widely used in educational sectors. Technological tools have been regarded as ways of helping students improve language skills such as speaking skill. Internet, podcasts, video conferencing, videos and speech recognition software are considered the best tools for teaching speaking skill. This paper aims to discuss some modern technologies available for teachers of English today to enhance speaking skill of second or foreign language learners.
