Abstract

This study aims to analyze the perceptions of lecturers and students of Japanese Education Program of Jakarta State University towards the website yomujp.com/n4 in improving Japanese reading skills at the N4 level. The research method used was qualitative with a Likert scale to measure respondents' responses. The respondents for this research were 43 respondents consisting of lecturers and students of the Japanese Language Education Study Program, Jakarta State University. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and questionnaires distributed to lecturers and students who have used the website. The results showed that the majority of lecturers and students gave positive responses to yomujp.com/n4. They consider this website to be very helpful in providing readings that match the difficulty level of JLPT N4. The material presented on this website is considered very useful because it is structured and complete, covering various JLPT levels from N5 to N1. In addition, the additional N6 level is very helpful for beginners who have not been able to read Hiragana and Katakana. The advantages of the yomujp.com/n4 media site are the varied and structured learning materials, namely these teaching materials are equipped with furigana, pictures and audio recordings, which contribute to improving understanding, pronunciation and interest in learning Japanese, user-friendly site design, Practical learning features. Disadvantages of the yomujp.com/n4 site are the variation of the material and limited interactivity and exercises.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the violations of politeness principles in recommending speech acts that occur in the reality show "Terrace House: Opening New Doors". Based on politeness theory proposed by Leech and the politeness strategies from Brown and Levinson, the researcher analyzes data from dialogues containing recommending speech acts delivered by participants in the reality show "Terrace House: Opening New Doors". The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through observation and recording of dialogues containing recommending speech acts. The analysis method used is the referential matching method with recommending speech acts as the determining reference. The results of the study show that there are 48 violations of politeness principles in recommending speech acts. The most frequent violations occur in agreement maxim with 30 instances (63%), followed by violations of appreciation maxim with 11 instances (22%), and violations sympathy maxim with 7 instances (15%). The most frequently used politeness strategy is negative politeness strategy with 17 instances (35%), followed by bald on-record strategy with 14 instances (29%), positive politeness strategy with 10 instances (21%), and off-record strategy with 7 instances (15%). In conclusion, violations of politeness principles often occur in the delivery of recommendations, especially violations of agreement maxim. These violations caused by a lack of understanding of the interlocutor's situation and prioritizing effectiveness over politeness. The negative politeness strategy is the most used strategy to address violations of the agreement maxim, as it helps reduce discomfort and minimizes threats to negative face of the interlocutor.

Abstract

This study aims to to find out the forms and categories of errors in translating meishi shuushoku from Indonesian to Japanese and to find out the causes of these errors. This was conducted due to difficulty level in translating Indonesian to Japanese which is considered more difficult, one of it is translating klausa pewatasan into meishi shuushoku. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques in the form of note-taking techniques and the analysis technique was error analysis method based on the theories by experts. This research uses translation theory by Larson (1988), restrictive clause theory by Lapoliwa (1990), meishi shuushoku theory by Tomomatsu (2007) and Teramura (1992), error type classification theory by and Ichikawa (2001), and theory of error causes by Nagai (2016). The results of this study show that translation error still often occurred. The type of errors that occurred were omission (25), addition (7), misinformation (16), alternating form (51), and misordering (16). The causes of the errors that occurred were overgeneralization (27) ignorance of rules restrictions (44), and incomplete application of rules (44).

Abstract

In Japanese, interjections are known as kandoushi and are divided into kandou (impression), yobiake (call), outou (response), and aisatsugo (greeting). Kandoushi that express outou are kandoushi that express answers and responses to other people's speech. The reason for this research is based on the important role of kandoushi which expresses outou in everyday Japanese conversation. The purpose of this study is to describe the types and forms, usage, and meaning of kandoushi that express outou. The data source in this study is the Detective Conan manga Volume 98-99. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method using a syntactic and semantic approach. The results of this study are that there are 3 types and 13 forms of kandoushi that express outou in the Detective Conan manga volume 98-99 with different usage and meaning. The frequency of occurrence of the types, uses, and meanings of kandoushi expressing outou in the Detective Conan manga volumes 98-99 reflects its use in everyday life.
