Abstract

TikTok, as a short-video social media platform, has emerged as a central interactive space for teenagers to understand and shape their opinions on social issues. This study aims to explore how TikTok content influences adolescent perspectives on topics such as mental health, climate change, gender equality, and bullying. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews and participatory observation of content creators who consistently address social topics. The findings reveal that teenagers undergo a five-stage interaction process: discovering content, watching, engaging, seeking more information, and forming personal opinions. TikTok facilitates active teen involvement in social discourse through emotionally driven and narrative-based content. The study suggests that educators, policymakers, and social organizations can effectively utilize TikTok as an educational medium, although limitations exist regarding the geographic scope and duration of the research.

Abstract

Inclusive education through technology has become a major concern in Southeast Asia, along with efforts to improve access to education for all students, including those with special needs. While technology can offer a wide range of solutions, effective implementation in the region is still limited by a variety of challenges, such as uneven infrastructure and the readiness of educators to utilize digital tools. This article aims to systematically review technology-based inclusive education tools and practices in Southeast Asian countries. The main focus is on the effectiveness of the technological tools used in supporting the diverse needs of students as well as the challenges and opportunities that exist in the region. The study used a systematic review approach, by analyzing 45 related studies published between 2015 and 2023. These studies cover a wide range of technological tools, including educational software, mobile applications, and online learning platforms, applied in the context of inclusive education. The inclusive criteria reviewed included support for students with physical, sensory, and intellectual disabilities. Key findings suggest that while the technological tools used in Southeast Asia have great potential to improve educational accessibility, successful implementation is often hampered by infrastructure issues, teacher unpreparedness, and lack of training. On the other hand, the application of technology in the context of inclusive education also provides opportunities for personalization of learning, which allows for teaching that is more tailored to the needs of diverse students. This article highlights the importance of more structured policies to support the use of technology in inclusive education in Southeast Asia. Improving training for teachers and strengthening digital infrastructure in schools must be top priorities so that technology can provide maximum benefits for all students, especially those with special needs.

Abstract

This research discusses polemics and political dynamics in Cirebon ahead of the 2024 Cirebon Mayor and Mayor Candidate General Election. As part of the democratic process, the general election in Cirebon presents a fierce competition between candidates driven by local political interests and the influence of elite groups. The study aims to identify the factors that cause tension and competition in these elections and to explore their impact on local communities. The method used was qualitative descriptive with purposive sampling, in-depth interviews, and participatory observation. The results of the study revealed that the "White and See" campaign strategy and the limited capital of candidates were key factors in the decline in campaign enthusiasm. In addition, the emergence of a coalition of major political parties has further increased political tensions and polarization in Cirebon. These findings are expected to contribute to understanding the impact of political polemics on social stability and local democracy.

Abstract

Language is an important communication tool in everyday life, and an understanding of how language reflects and shapes gender roles can provide valuable insights into the social construction and perception of gender in society. The purpose of this study is to explain gender roles in language and communication from a linguistic perspective. This research uses a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques in this study were carried out by exploring books, journals and other information relevant to the research. Data analysis in this study involves identifying gender-related language patterns and structures, using linguistic theoretical frameworks such as sentence structure analysis, pragmatic analysis, sociolinguistic analysis, and so on. The results show that in everyday language use, there are clear patterns in the use of words, phrases, and language constructions that perpetuate gender stereotypes. This reflects the way people perceive and understand gender roles in social contexts. In addition, research also shows differences in communication patterns between men and women, including speaking styles, body language use and communication preferences. These differences reflect social and cultural influences that affect how individuals express themselves and interact.

Abstract

The rattan industry in Cirebon faces a paradox between substantial economic potential and low digital technology adoption, with only 18% of SMEs active on e-commerce platforms. This study aims to analyze the role of digital infrastructure as a strategy for economic empowerment of rattan SMEs in Cirebon, identify factors influencing digital adoption, and develop contextually appropriate implementation models. Employing a mixed-method sequential explanatory design, the research involved 218 SME respondents through stratified random sampling surveys and 15 key informants through in-depth interviews. Quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS (descriptive statistics, t-tests, multiple regression), while qualitative data were analyzed with thematic analysis. Results reveal that digital adopter SMEs demonstrate 77.7% higher revenue, 583% wider market reach, and 47.4% greater profit margins compared to non-adopters (p<0.001). Significant factors influencing adoption include digital literacy (?=0.412), perceived ease of use (?=0.337), and financial capability (?=0.289), explaining 68.4% of digital adoption variance. Multi-platform strategy yields 94% success rate with 142% revenue growth. The study identifies a heritage-digital integration framework enabling SMEs to preserve cultural values while enhancing competitiveness. Practical implications include developing Digital Hubs, peer-to-peer Digital Mentor programs, and Pay-as-You-Grow policies to address digital literacy barriers (78%) and financial constraints (65%). Findings contribute to craft industry digital transformation literature and provide actionable roadmaps for stakeholders.

Abstract

Background: Constitutional protection of minority rights remains a central concern in contemporary constitutional law, particularly amid rising political polarization, public health crises, and democratic backsliding. Although constitutions formally guarantee equality and non-discrimination, the effectiveness of protection mechanisms varies significantly across jurisdictions and minority groups. Objective: This study aims to examine how constitutional frameworks across different regions protect minority rights and to identify the most effective constitutional mechanisms, judicial practices, and implementation challenges affecting religious, ethnic, LGBTQ+, linguistic, and other minority groups. Methods: The research employs a comparative legal analysis based on a systematic review of 25 Scopus-indexed publications published between 2019 and 2024. Judicial decisions, constitutional provisions, and enforcement mechanisms from jurisdictions in Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Oceania were analyzed to identify regional patterns and institutional effectiveness. Results: The findings indicate that constitutional courts are the most effective protection mechanism, demonstrating an average effectiveness rate of 85%, significantly outperforming legislative and administrative mechanisms. European jurisdictions exhibit the highest level of minority rights protection (65%), while African jurisdictions show lower protection rates (30%). Religious minorities account for the largest share of constitutional cases (32%), followed by ethnic minorities (28%) and LGBTQ+ groups (18%). Non-discrimination principles show the strongest implementation (8.0/10), whereas political representation mechanisms remain the weakest (6.5/10). The COVID-19 pandemic correlated with a notable increase in minority rights cases. Conclusion: This study provides empirical evidence that strong constitutional courts and non-discrimination principles are central to effective minority rights protection. However, enforcement gaps, political resistance, and limited institutional capacity continue to undermine constitutional guarantees, highlighting the need for targeted policy and institutional reforms.
