Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the application of the singing method on learning motivation and achievement in memorizing multiplication in grade III elementary school students. The background of this study is based on the low interest and learning outcomes of students in memorizing multiplication, which has an impact on the overall understanding of mathematics material. The singing method was chosen because it is considered capable of creating a pleasant learning atmosphere and making it easier for students to remember material through the rhythm and lyrics of the song. This study uses a quantitative approach with a one group pretest-posttest pre-experimental design. The subjects of the study were 23 grade III students in an elementary school. The instruments used included a learning motivation questionnaire and a multiplication memorization achievement test. The results of the study showed a significant increase in learning motivation and multiplication memorization test results after the application of the singing method. This shows that the singing method is effective in increasing student motivation and learning achievement, especially in multiplication material. Thus, the singing method can be used as an alternative creative and enjoyable learning strategy to improve mathematics learning outcomes in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students’ nonfiction reading comprehension skills through the implementation of the cooperative learning model of the Talking Stick type in Grade V at SDN 80/I, Muara Bulian District. The method used is classroom action research (CAR) conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observation, learning outcome tests, and documentation. The results show that the implementation of the Talking Stick model can improve students' learning outcomes in reading comprehension of nonfiction texts. This is evidenced by an increase in the average student score from 64.5 in cycle I to 75 in cycle II. In addition, there was an increase in students’ active participation in learning activities, especially in discussing, expressing opinions, and understanding the content of the reading. This model also creates a more enjoyable and collaborative learning atmosphere. Therefore, the cooperative learning model of the Talking Stick type is effectively used to improve nonfiction reading comprehension skills of elementary school students.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low ability of students in learning science, especially in grade V. The research also aims to improve students' abilities in learning science by using the role playing method. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) consisting of 2 cycles and each cycle consists of 4 actions, namely planning, implementation, closing and reflection. The results of the study showed that there was an increase in students' activeness in learning science through the role playing method. Of the 20 students, the student's learning completeness in cycle 1 was only 40%, but in cycle 2 it reached 75% with an average value of 73.8. The increase in student activity proves that the use of the role playing method can increase student activity in learning science, especially in the food chain material.

Abstract

Tradisi Panen Raya Pasar Terusan di Muara Bulian merupakan warisan budaya agraris yang mengandung nilai religius, sosial, dan estetika yang telah diwariskan secara turun-temurun. Tradisi ini bukan hanya perayaan hasil panen, melainkan juga sarana untuk memperkuat solidaritas sosial, menjaga identitas budaya lokal, serta menjadi media pembelajaran kultural bagi generasi muda. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali makna filosofis, nilai sosial dalam perayaan Panen Raya. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, dengan validasi data dilakukan melalui triangulasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Panen Raya tidak hanya bernilai agraris, tetapi juga memuat simbol doa, syukur, serta harmoni antara manusia, alam, dan Sang Pencipta. Prosesi Mundut dan makan merawang mencerminkan nilai gotong royong, tolong menolong, dan persaudaraan, sedangkan tari Tabur Beras Kunyit berfungsi sebagai simbol spiritual sekaligus pendidikan budaya. Tradisi ini menghadapi tantangan modernisasi, namun tetap relevan sebagai sarana pelestarian budaya lokal. Kesimpulannya, Panen Raya Pasar Terusan menjadi identitas budaya yang harus dilestarikan dan dapat dijadikan model pendidikan berbasis kearifan lokal untuk memperkuat karakter generasi muda.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the effect of using Canva-based interactive multimedia on the ability of addition and subtraction of fractional numbers in grade V of elementary school. This study uses a quantitative approach of the Pre experimental design type. The design used in this study is one group design, where there is only one experimental class. The results of the study showed that there was a significant difference in the average value of the ability of fractional arithmetic operations in the experimental class. This can be seen from the results of the t-test using an independent sample t-test, obtained a t-count value greater than the t-table value, namely 8.472 > 1.708, and a significance value of P-value 0.00 < 0.05. then Ho is accepted. Then based on the effect size test, the Cohens'd value of 2.357 is included in the large effect size criteria d > 0.8. Based on the results of the study, there is an effect of using Canva-based interactive multimedia on the ability of addition and subtraction of fractional numbers in grade V of elementary school. As well as a large influence of the use of Canva-based interactive multimedia on the ability of addition and subtraction of students' arithmetic operations.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the contextual learning approach on the critical thinking skills of third-grade elementary school students on the topic of length and weight. The research employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental design, specifically the One-Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The research subjects consisted of all third-grade students of SDN 124/1 Batin, totaling 26 students. The sampling technique used was saturated sampling. Data were collected through pretest and posttest instruments designed to measure students’ critical thinking skills. The obtained data were analyzed using statistical tests with the assistance of SPSS version 21. Prior to hypothesis testing, prerequisite analyses in the form of normality and homogeneity tests were conducted. The results of the normality test indicated that the data were not normally distributed; therefore, hypothesis testing was carried out using the nonparametric Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Descriptive analysis results showed an increase in the average score of students’ critical thinking skills from 43.04 in the pretest to 63.73 in the posttest. The results of the Wilcoxon test revealed a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating a significant difference in students’ critical thinking skills before and after the implementation of the contextual learning approach. Thus, it can be concluded that the contextual learning approach has a significant effect on improving the critical thinking skills of third-grade elementary school students on the topic of length and weight

Abstract

This study aims to describe the process of implementing a digital-based jarimatika method to improve counting skills in mathematics learning, specifically on multiplication material, for third-grade students at SDN 171/I Bajubang Laut.This research employs Classroom Action Research (CAR), which focuses on how the implementation of digital-based jarimatika can improve the counting skills of third-grade students at SDN 171/I Bajubang Laut. Data were collected through observation and tests. The research subjects consisted of 15 third-grade students, comprising 7 male and 8 female students.The results of the study indicate that the implementation of digital-based jarimatika through the use of visual and systematic digital media is able to assist students in performing multiplication calculations. The teacher explained how to use the digital-based jarimatika method by providing calculation examples and guiding students to practice directly, thereby encouraging active student participation in the learning process. This research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection, with two meetings in each cycle. The findings show that the implementation of digital-based jarimatika successfully increased students’ counting skills, with the percentage rising from 53.3% in Cycle I to 81.6% in Cycle II.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the meaning of students’ learning experiences in IPAS learning at the elementary school level. The research was conducted at SD Negeri 079/I Desa Teluk during the 2025/2026 academic year using a qualitative phenomenological approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and documentation, with the main subjects being selected sixth-grade students and supporting data obtained from the sixth-grade homeroom teacher. The results show that students’ learning experiences in IPAS learning encompass three main aspects: cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. From the cognitive aspect, students were able to understand IPAS concepts well because the learning was delivered contextually and related to everyday life. From the affective aspect, students demonstrated positive attitudes such as enthusiasm, learning interest, self-confidence, and mutual respect during the learning process. Meanwhile, from the psychomotor aspect, students were actively involved in observation, discussion, and simple practical activities that helped develop skills and strengthen their understanding of the material. These learning experiences shaped the meaning of IPAS learning as interesting, easy to understand, and beneficial for students’ lives. The meaning of students’ learning experiences in IPAS learning is influenced by internal and external factors. Internal factors include learning motivation, learning interest, and students’ learning readiness, while external factors involve the role of teachers, learning strategies, learning media, and the learning environment. Positive learning experiences have an impact on increasing students’ learning interest, active engagement, and changes in attitudes and behaviors toward greater environmental awareness. Therefore, contextually designed and student-centered IPAS learning is able to create meaningful learning experiences and improve the quality of the learning process in elementary schools.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dampak penerapan media komik digital terhadap motivasi belajar IPAS siswa kelas IV SDN 10/IX Muaro Jambi. Observasi awal menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran di kelas IV masih didominasi metode ceramah dan penggunaan buku teks, sehingga siswa kurang terlibat aktif dan motivasi belajar rendah. Media komik digital dipilih karena memiliki kelebihan dalam menyajikan materi secara visual, menarik, dan mudah dipahami, serta mendukung perkembangan teknologi pembelajaran. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif jenis studi kasus dengan melibatkan 20 siswa dan satu guru kelas IV. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara semi-terstruktur, dan analisis dokumen, lalu dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis tematik berdasarkan indikator Self-Determination Theory (SDT), yaitu otonomi, kompetensi, dan keterikatan sosial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa komik digital memberikan dampak positif terhadap motivasi belajar siswa. Dari aspek otonomi, siswa merasa lebih bebas mengatur cara belajar melalui kebebasan memilih panel komik. Dari aspek kompetensi, visualisasi dalam komik membantu siswa memahami konsep IPAS dengan lebih jelas, sehingga meningkatkan kepercayaan diri dan kemampuan menyelesaikan tugas. Dari aspek keterikatan sosial, komik digital mendorong interaksi dan diskusi antarsiswa, menciptakan suasana belajar yang lebih kolaboratif. Meskipun terdapat kendala seperti keterbatasan perangkat, antusiasme siswa tetap tinggi dan guru mampu mengatasinya melalui pengaturan yang fleksibel. Secara keseluruhan, penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa media komik digital efektif meningkatkan motivasi belajar IPAS dan layak digunakan sebagai alternatif media pembelajaran di sekolah dasar.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students’ learning activeness in mathematics measurement material through the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in Grade V of SDN 186/I Sridadi. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. The study adopted the Kemmis and McTaggart model consisting of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The results indicated that the implementation of the PBL model was effective in improving students’ learning activeness. This improvement was reflected in the increasing percentage of students’ activeness from one cycle to the next. Initially, students’ activeness in Cycle I was categorized as low, reaching 47.36%. In Cycle II, the first meeting showed an increase to 76.47%, and further improvement occurred in the second meeting, reaching 83.33%. The percentage of students’ activeness exceeded the success indicator of 70%, indicating that the learning objectives had been achieved. Therefore, the action cycle was terminated after achieving the predetermined targets. The findings demonstrate that the application of the Problem Based Learning model significantly enhances students’ learning activities and activeness in mathematics learning. It can be concluded that the implementation of Problem Based Learning in mathematics instruction effectively improves the learning activeness of Grade V students.
