Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the application of the singing method on learning motivation and achievement in memorizing multiplication in grade III elementary school students. The background of this study is based on the low interest and learning outcomes of students in memorizing multiplication, which has an impact on the overall understanding of mathematics material. The singing method was chosen because it is considered capable of creating a pleasant learning atmosphere and making it easier for students to remember material through the rhythm and lyrics of the song. This study uses a quantitative approach with a one group pretest-posttest pre-experimental design. The subjects of the study were 23 grade III students in an elementary school. The instruments used included a learning motivation questionnaire and a multiplication memorization achievement test. The results of the study showed a significant increase in learning motivation and multiplication memorization test results after the application of the singing method. This shows that the singing method is effective in increasing student motivation and learning achievement, especially in multiplication material. Thus, the singing method can be used as an alternative creative and enjoyable learning strategy to improve mathematics learning outcomes in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students’ nonfiction reading comprehension skills through the implementation of the cooperative learning model of the Talking Stick type in Grade V at SDN 80/I, Muara Bulian District. The method used is classroom action research (CAR) conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observation, learning outcome tests, and documentation. The results show that the implementation of the Talking Stick model can improve students' learning outcomes in reading comprehension of nonfiction texts. This is evidenced by an increase in the average student score from 64.5 in cycle I to 75 in cycle II. In addition, there was an increase in students’ active participation in learning activities, especially in discussing, expressing opinions, and understanding the content of the reading. This model also creates a more enjoyable and collaborative learning atmosphere. Therefore, the cooperative learning model of the Talking Stick type is effectively used to improve nonfiction reading comprehension skills of elementary school students.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low ability of students in learning science, especially in grade V. The research also aims to improve students' abilities in learning science by using the role playing method. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) consisting of 2 cycles and each cycle consists of 4 actions, namely planning, implementation, closing and reflection. The results of the study showed that there was an increase in students' activeness in learning science through the role playing method. Of the 20 students, the student's learning completeness in cycle 1 was only 40%, but in cycle 2 it reached 75% with an average value of 73.8. The increase in student activity proves that the use of the role playing method can increase student activity in learning science, especially in the food chain material.

Abstract

Tradisi bekarang ikan di Desa Pasar Terusan, Muara Bulian, merupakan salah satu warisan kearifan lokal yang diwariskan lintas generasi dan masih dilestarikan hingga kini. Prosesi ini dilaksanakan pada musim kemarau saat air surut di lubuk larangan, yaitu kawasan perairan yang dijaga bersama masyarakat sepanjang tahun untuk memastikan keberlangsungan ekosistem ikan. Bekarang tidak hanya dipahami sebagai aktivitas menangkap ikan, tetapi juga wujud rasa syukur kepada Tuhan, sarana memperkuat solidaritas sosial, serta bentuk kepedulian terhadap lingkungan. Rangkaian doa bersama, kerja sama saat proses penangkapan ikan, hingga makan basamo setelah kegiatan memperlihatkan integrasi nilai religius, sosial, dan ekologis yang menyatu dalam satu perayaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bekarang berfungsi sebagai media pendidikan budaya, penguatan identitas kolektif, serta pelestarian lingkungan berbasis adat yang tetap relevan di tengah tantangan modernisasi.
