Abstract

The basis for establishing the rules and forms of Ibn Malik's thought in the science of nahwu has a distinctive character. Therefore, this study has two aims, (1) to explicitly identify the basis of Ibn Malik in establishing nahwu rules in general. (2) examine the form of Ibn Malik's thought which tends towards the Basrah flow represented in the book of Alfiyah. The approach in this research is descriptive qualitative. The research data are facts related to Ibn Malik's thoughts, lingual units contained in the Alfiyah book, and information related to his interpretation. The data sources for this study are kitabs, books, scientific journals, and relevant research. The method for providing data is by observing techniques in the form of reading data, followed by a tapping process. The analysis method used is content analysis. The results of the research show that in establishing the rules of nahwu, Ibnu Malik used a different base of thought compared to previous nahwu scholars, namely referring to hadith extensively. This is based on his intellectual journey, his expertise in studying hadith, as well as the historical factor that hadith at that time had been well translated.  As for the form of thought that tends towards the Basrah school, it is represented in one of his phenomenal books, namely Alfiyah.  In this book have found 51 problems (the most dominant quantity) that tend to be based on Basrah's thinking, both in terms of the form of rules established and the framework of thinking.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the ideology in King Salman's political speeches at the United Nations General Assembly. A critical qualitative design was applied in analyzing two of King Salman's speeches in 2020 and 2021. In line with the research objectives, the ideological square is used as the theoretical framework for data analysis. The results of microanalysis show that King Salman uses the basic strategy of emphasizing positive things about 'us' in 129 data (58.6%), emphasizing negative things about 'them' in 60 data (27.3%), and de-emphasizing positive things about 'them' in 31 data (14.1%). As for de-emphasizing negative things about ‘us’ not found in the data source. In the microanalysis dimension, among the rhetorical discursive strategies found were actor description in 77 data (35.0%), consensus in 16 data (7.3%), comparison in 6 data (2.7%), values expression in 76 data (34.5%), victimization-criminalization in 30 data (13.6%), and national self-glorification in 15 data (16.9%). Based on this analysis, the general ideologies found in King Salman's speech are nationalism and anti-imperialism. King Salman constructed Saudi Arabia's national identity in international eyes as a philanthropist, humanitarian, peace initiator, and non-violence country. These identities are then represented as the trademark of Saudi Arabia's foreign policy.

Abstract

The current study examines the ideology constructed by Al-Jazeera and CNN Arabic media on the issue of Indonesia's rejection of Israel at the U-20 World Cup 2023. The purpose of this research is to provide critical information and facts so that people can filter the news of Israel's rejection in Indonesia wisely. This research data is linguistic units in the Arabic mass media Al-Jazeera and CNN Arabic on March 30, 2023. Data was collected using the listening method, followed by tapping and recording techniques. The data were analyzed using the Padan method, which refers to Theo Van Leeuwen's critical discourse analysis (CDA). The results showed that Al-Jazeera media, through exclusion and inclusion, constructed public ideology not to justify Indonesia with negative representations. It was influenced by the ideology of Al-Jazeera's affiliate, Qatar, which has historically been religious and politically opposed to Israel. CNN Arabic strategizes language to construct public ideology through inclusion so that Indonesia is seen as a perpetrator of the rejection of Israel in a hostile, unprofessional, and anti-national manner. This was influenced because CNN Arabic is affiliated with America, which is a close friend of Israel in mutual economic and political relations.
