Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the relation of learning style (visual, auditorial, kinestechtic) with students’ learning interest at VIII class on photosynthesis material in junior high school. Sampling technique in this research used probability proportional to size (PPS). Data collection used questionnaire. The results showed that there is a positive and significant correlation between learning styles with student learning interest in science subjects class VIII with a value of 0.789 are categorized as high correlation and significant value of 10.352. The result of correlation between the dimension of each learning style and the learning interest was obtained by visual learning style - learning interest with correlation value 0.380, auditorial learning style- interest with correlation value 0.673, kinesthetic learning style - interest with correlation value 0.396. This shows the style of auditorial learning has a higher correlation to student learning interest. The results of the calculation of determination coefficient obtained value 59.1% and the remaining 40.9% influenced by other outside factors and research variables. These results also show that learning can affect the level of student interest in learning during the classroom learning process. Therefore, by understanding the learning process in each student , the teacher can make the students' learning interest increase. Keywords: learning style, learning interest, photosynthesis, science

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of Role Playing learning model on the understanding of concepts on environmental pollution material . This research was conducted in one of senior high school in Palembang on May 2017. Research method that used in this research is Quasi Experimental with research design of Non - equivalent Control Group Design . The population in this study consists of 4 classes totaling 101 students. Sampling is using purposive sampling technique . The sample of this study X.1 class as the experiment amounted to 26 students and X.2 class as the control class amounted to 24 students. In the learning process, experimental class is taught by using Role Playing learning model and control class is taught by discussion method. Data retrieval is using conceptualization test with essay form that has been tested for its validity and reliability. The results showed that the N-gain average experimental class is 0,71 are categorized as high and N-gain average for the control class 0, 50 including the medium category. Data analysis that is using t-test with significant level 0,05 obtained sig 0,000 <0,05 with t arithmetic = 5.638 while t table = 1.677 seen that t arithmetic > t table . Therefore (H a ) is accepted and (H 0 ) is rejected . Based on this, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence on the model of learning Role Playing on the mastery of the concept of human circulatory system for X class. Keywords: concept mastering, circulatory system, learning model, role playing

Abstract

Contextual teaching and learning (CTL) is a conception that helps the teacher link the subject content to realworldsituations and motivate students to make connections between knowledge and application in their lives. This study aims to describe the effect of applying contextual learning model to the scientific attitude of juniorhigh school students on ecosystem material. This research is quasi experiment and uses the Matching OnlyPosttest-Only Control Group Design. The implementation of this study include of 33 students as experimentalclass and 32 students as control class in one of junior high school at East OKU. The research instrument used inin the form of rubric assessment, questionnaire, and observation sheet. Data was analyzed by using MicrosoftExcel and SPSS program 16. The statically result showed that contextual learning model had an effect onimproving students ’scientific attitude so that they could reach the minimum criteria. This is because the studentcan learn the lesson material presented through the context of their lives, and find meaning during the learningprocess, so that learning will become more meaningful and fun with the ecosystem material. This learningmodel can improve students’ scientific attitude through the syntax contained in it. Keywords: CTL learning model, scientific attitude

Abstract

One of the methods that can be applied to achieve learning goal is the problem solving learning method. Problem solving method is a way or means of presenting lessons by encouraging learners to seek and solve a problem in order to achieve teaching objectives by relating experience and logic. Problem solving methods used to provide learning stimuli to learners to make them think real and analyze, solve problems and then take the conclusions of the problem. This research design using Non-equivalent Control Group Design with Quasi Experimental method (quasi experiment). The sample of this research is 80 students. Based on the results of student ability analysis shows that the implementation of learning using problem solving method is better than conventional learning. The result of the analysis of the average increase of mastery of students’ experimental analysis of the experimental class reached 33,3% while the students' analysis ability in the control class was 19,2%. Keywords: analysis ability, learning method, problem solving
