Abstract

Innovative mathematics education plays a crucial role in providing meaningful learning experiences. This approach can be realized by linking mathematical concepts to everyday situations, making the learning process more relevant and engaging for students. One approach that can be applied is introducing local cultural values, which are reflected in the integration of cultural elements into mathematics education. This process is known as ethnomathematics. Ethnomathematics-based learning can be seen in various motifs of Benang Bintik batik, which is a distinctive feature of the batik from Central Kalimantan Province. This research is exploratory, aimed at discovering the factors that influence the occurrence of a phenomenon or to understand the research object more deeply. The study was conducted at the Batik Benang Bintik Paramita production house located on Badak XXV Street, Bukit Tunggal Subdistrict, Palangka Raya City. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results revealed information about the production process of stamped and hand-drawn batik, as well as some of the philosophies embedded in the Benang Bintik batik motifs. The philosophies in these motifs include hopes to God or ancestors, humans, and other creatures (the balanga motif); depictions of the three levels of the universe according to the beliefs of the Dayak Ngaju tribe (the batang garing motif); symbols of courage, protection, strength, and Dayak identity (the talawang motif); the bond between humans (the kalalawit and bajakah kalalawit motifs); and nobility and protection (the enggang bird motif). Additionally, the Benang Bintik motifs also contain mathematical concepts such as points, lines, angles, flat shapes, and geometric transformations. Therefore, these motifs can be used as innovative, contextual learning media for mathematics, while supporting the preservation of local culture.

Abstract

Determining the main idea and supporting ideas of a text is a fundamental reading skill. The ability of students to identify the main idea and supporting details is a key aspect of Indonesian language learning in fourth grade. However, at SDN-11 Palangka, many fourth-grade students—approximately 73%—struggle with identifying the main idea and supporting ideas. Despite being an upper-grade class, these students should be capable of applying reading comprehension skills effectively. This has led researchers to conduct descriptive research aimed at identifying the difficulties, causal factors, and potential solutions to improve the learning of Indonesian. The focus of this study is on determining the main idea in reading texts for fourth-grade students at SDN-11 Palangka. The research employs a descriptive method with a qualitative approach, utilizing an interactive data analysis technique based on the Miles and Huberman model. This process involves data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The data collection methods used in this research include observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that the main difficulty students face in identifying the main idea is their inadequate understanding of the material related to the main idea and supporting details. The cause of these difficulties lies in the students' reading challenges, which include a lack of fluency in reading and insufficient reading comprehension skills.

Abstract

Quality education requires innovation in teaching methods by utilizing technology. The challenges often relate to limited resources and the selection of learning methods to engage students and enhance their motivation to learn. As information technology evolves, the use of digital media in learning becomes increasingly relevant. However, many teachers are still not skilled in utilizing digital applications in the learning process. Therefore, training and assistance for teachers are necessary to optimize the use of Liveworksheet in developing Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD). This activity aims to enhance the competencies of teachers at SDN 9 Menteng Palangka Raya. It was conducted over two meetings involving classroom teachers and subject teachers. The method used was direct instruction, with in-depth material exploration in the first meeting and practical assistance in the second meeting. After the activity was completed, a reflection session was held with the participants, indicating that they were satisfied with the training. The majority of participants expressed that they gained not only an understanding of how to utilize Liveworksheet but also improved their skills in creating more interactive and engaging LKPD. Additionally, participants reported that the material presented was highly relevant to their classroom needs and helped boost their confidence in using technology in the learning process.

Abstract

Mata pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia menuntut penguasaan keterampilan menyimak, berbicara, membaca, dan menulis, di mana kemampuan menulis kalimat menjadi dasar penting untuk mengembangkan paragraf. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan efektivitas penggunaan media kartu kata terhadap kemampuan menulis kalimat siswa kelas III SDN 1 Menteng Kota Palangka Raya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain pretest and posttest control group design, melibatkan kelas III A sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas III B sebagai kelas kontrol. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes unjuk kerja dan dianalisis menggunakan uji deskriptif serta uji inferensial (uji normalitas, homogenitas, dan T-Welch). Hasil analisis deskriptif menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata skor kemampuan menulis kalimat siswa pada kelas eksperimen meningkat dari 65,80 pada pretest menjadi 77,40 pada posttest, sedangkan pada kelas kontrol meningkat dari 64,75 pada pretest menjadi 72,10 pada posttest. Hasil uji hipotesis dengan T-Welch menghasilkan nilai Sig. (2-tailed) sebesar 0,078 (> 0,05), sehingga hipotesis alternatif ditolak dan hipotesis nol diterima. Dengan demikian, penggunaan media kartu kata tidak memberikan efektivitas yang signifikan terhadap kemampuan menulis kalimat siswa, meskipun secara deskriptif terdapat peningkatan hasil belajar pada kedua kelas. Oleh karena itu, disarankan agar guru mengombinasikan kartu kata dengan media atau strategi pembelajaran lain yang lebih interaktif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis kalimat siswa secara optimal.
