Abstract

This study explores the implementation of digital citizenship education in Indonesian elementary schools as a pathway to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4 (Quality Education), 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). Using a qualitative descriptive design and thematic analysis, the research examines national policies, academic literature, and school-based initiatives related to the Kurikulum Merdeka, Profil Pelajar Pancasila, and Adiwiyata (Green School) programs. Findings reveal that digital citizenship education is increasingly integrated through projects, digital storytelling, and ethical online engagement that nurture students’ critical thinking and civic responsibility. However, challenges such as limited teacher competence, uneven digital infrastructure, and the absence of localized ethical frameworks persist. The study’s theoretical contribution lies in integrating Pancasila ethics with digital citizenship and sustainability education, framing moral, civic, and technological dimensions as mutually reinforcing components of transformative learning. This synthesis underscores the importance of coherent policy implementation, teacher professional development, and culturally grounded pedagogy to promote equitable, ethical, and sustainable digital learning environments aligned with the SDGs.

Abstract

The rapid expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital media is reshaping contemporary civic identity and challenging existing models of citizenship education. Although global citizenship education frameworks increasingly emphasize technological competence, they often lack grounding in local ethical and cultural values, particularly within elementary education where civic identity is first formed. Addressing this gap, this study synthesizes global citizenship theories and digital innovation research to propose an integrated pedagogical framework for Indonesian elementary schools grounded in Pancasila. Following PRISMA 2020 guidelines, this systematic literature review analyzed peer-reviewed studies published between 2017 and 2025 in the Scopus and Web of Science databases. The analysis focused on AI integration in education, digital literacy inequalities, and the role of Pancasila-based ethics in civic learning. The findings indicate that liberal and global citizenship models, when detached from shared moral foundations, risk weakening civic engagement. In Indonesia, structural disparities in AI adoption further highlight the need for an ethical and equitable approach to digital citizenship education. The review identifies Pancasila as a normative ethical framework capable of guiding responsible digital behavior and supporting Sustainable Development Goals 4, 10, and 16. To operationalize these values in elementary classrooms, Project-Based Learning supported by interactive digital modules emerges as an effective strategy for translating abstract civic principles into meaningful digital action. Developing ethically grounded digital citizens therefore requires sustained teacher capacity-building and the systematic integration of Pancasila-oriented, project-based pedagogies.

Abstract

A country's constitution serves as fundamental law regulating relationships between government and citizens in various aspects including state form, institutions, human rights, citizenship rights, and national ideals. This study compares the Indonesian constitution with that of the United States through a citizenship education lens, examining how constitutional frameworks shape citizenship knowledge and civic participation. The research focuses on state structure and government systems, state institutions, human rights arrangements, citizenship provisions, and constitutional amendment mechanisms. Using a normative juridical approach with statutory and comparative methods, data is collected through literature study and presented qualitatively with descriptive-analytical approach. Results indicate that Indonesia and the United States share similarities in government form, several state institutions, human rights regulations, and constitutional amendment mechanisms, while differences emerge in state form, certain institutions, citizenship conceptualization, gun ownership rights, and judiciary involvement in constitutional amendments. The findings contribute to strengthening constitutional literacy and citizenship education, particularly relevant for Pancasila and Civic Education pedagogy in Indonesia.

Abstract

Citizenship education is foundational to primary school, where young learners begin developing civic identity, values, and participation skills. This paper explores how different conceptions of citizenship influence the aims, curriculum content, and teaching methods in primary school civic education. Using a narrative literature review of peer-reviewed studies published between 2017 and 2024, the analysis examines five citizenship models: liberal, republican, deliberative, global, and Pancasila-based, and their pedagogical implications for elementary learners aged 6 to 12 years. The findings demonstrate that each citizenship conception emphasizes distinct learning objectives. Liberal models prioritize critical thinking and understanding rights; republican frameworks promote cooperative learning and community service; deliberative approaches develop dialogue and empathy; global citizenship cultivates intercultural awareness and environmental responsibility; and Pancasila-based education integrates moral character, national identity, and democratic values through culturally grounded activities. The review reveals that primary school citizenship education functions not merely as knowledge transmission but as a formative process shaping how children understand themselves as members of their communities, nations, and the wider world. In the Indonesian context, Pancasila provides a philosophical and ethical foundation that enables primary school teachers to connect universal civic principles with local cultural values and children's lived experiences. The paper proposes an integrative model of primary school citizenship education that synthesizes these five perspectives, demonstrating how teachers can simultaneously develop children's critical thinking, participation skills, moral reasoning, cultural identity, and global awareness through age-appropriate and contextually relevant pedagogies. Abstract

Abstract: Environmental awareness among students is still relatively low, necessitating an educational model capable of fostering a sustainable ecological character. Sekolah Alam offer an alternative education that integrates the learning process with nature through a contextual approach and direct experience. This study seeks to review and analyses the results of previous research on the role of Sekolah Alam in shaping students' environmental character. This study used a systematic literature review method on scientific articles published between 2024-2025 that discussed contextual learning, the integration of religious values, and the application of experiential learning in Indonesian Sekolah Alam. The process of searching, selecting, and analyzing articles follows the PRISMA procedure with measurable criteria, analyzed using a thematic analysis approach and concept-centric review to ensure comprehensive and transparent findings. The results of the study indicate that the integration of environmental values into the curriculum, the role of teachers as facilitators, and learning activities based on real experiences contribute significantly to the formation of students' ecological awareness and behaviour. Thus, Sekolah Alam can be seen as an effective sustainable education model in fostering environmental character from an early age. Sekolah Alam’s curriculum, supported by the maximum role of teachers, can be an alternative for other schools to foster environmental character.Abstrak: Kesadaran peduli lingkungan di kalangan pelajar masih tergolong rendah, sehingga diperlukan model pendidikan yang mampu menumbuhkan karakter ekologis secara berkelanjutan. Abstract

This study investigates the use of monumental textile techniques as a multisensory intervention medium for children with sensory processing disorders through a Design Thinking approach. Children with sensory challenges often display repetitive behaviors as self-regulation strategies due to difficulties in processing tactile and proprioceptive stimuli. Using qualitative methods including participatory observation, interviews, studio experiments, and limited trials involving three children aged 3 to 7 years, this research developed textile-based sensory media employing ruffling and tucking techniques The findings show that varied textures effectively stimulate sensory responses, increase attention span, and promote positive emotional engagement. The intervention also redirects repetitive behaviors into more structured and adaptive exploratory activities. The Design Thinking approach ensures that the developed media are user-centered, functional, and contextually relevant. However, effectiveness depends on individual sensory profiles, requiring personalized implementation and professional supervision. Overall, monumental textile media demonstrate strong potential as innovative sensory intervention tools to support emotional regulation and adaptive behavior in children with special needs.
