Abstract

In increasing latex production, the government recommends the use of superior clones in the form of rubber plant stumps, but the drawback is that vegetative growth is not optimal if the treatment is not appropriate, especially the mortality percentage of buds from budding buds from grafting is quite high due to poor microclimate, poor of nutrients, soil water content and low phytohormones. Therefore, a humectant material that contains nutrients is needed as well as being able to store water properly. Stimulation of vegetative growth can be stimulated by the administration of growth regulators. This study aims to compare the effect of various humectants with the addition of various solutions of growth regulators. The experimental design used a factorial completely randomized design with treatment using solid waste rubber crumbs, solid decanter, and chicken manure as humectants with each dose of 200 g which was doused with a solution of growth regulators, namely coconut water, onion, and leri solution with volume 200 ml per day. The results showed that there was a positive interaction between 200 g crumb rubber solid waste and coconut water solution on the increase in shoot height and the growth of the number of rubber umbrellas. The application of crumb rubber solid waste with leri was able to stimulate the formation of denser leaves. Application of chicken manure with coconut water solution stimulates lateral root growth.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to describe the impact of utilizing palm oil mill effluent on the amount of palm oil fruit production through land application at PT. CPKA. The research was conducted using a quantitative analysis method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques used in this study include observation, interviews, literature review, and documentation. PT. CPKA is a palm oil industry engaged in palm oil plantation and processing. According to the Directorate General of Processing and Marketing of Agricultural Products (PPHP) (2006), each ton of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) has the potential to produce liquid waste amounting to 50% of the total waste generated. PT. CPKA processes waste using a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) system, which is then utilized as fertilizer for application on plantation land (land application). The research results show that palm oil mill effluent at PT. CPKA has a positive impact on the increase in palm oil production, with yields of 16.73 tons/ha in 2015, 11.79 tons/ha in 2016, 18.65 tons/ha in 2017, 29.46 tons/ha in 2018, and 26.26 tons/ha in 2019. These figures are higher compared to the production of palm oil without the application of palm oil mill effluent, which were 15.67 tons/ha in 2015, 10.38 tons/ha in 2016, 15.72 tons/ha in 2017, 25.92 tons/ha in 2018, and 25.11 tons/ha in 2019.

Abstract

Crude palm oil (CPO) production continues to be accelerated every year to meet domestic needs and large export demands from China, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Japan, and countries in the Middle East region. Indonesia, as the largest CPO producer in the world, is taking on this role to increase the country's competitiveness by continuing to meet CPO demand and needs. However, the high level of CPO processing impacts increasing by-products from palm oil factories. Empty bunches fruit from Palm oil (EFB) are the most common by-product of CPO production. This is a big problem because accumulation will be the main source of environmental damage and pest explosions. Processing EFB into soil conditioners can be an initiative to reduce the accumulation of EFB in factories. However, its effect is not yet known with certainty on several plants cultivated on marginal dry land, such as Ultisol soil. Research aimed to analyze the relationship between the application of various EFB composts to bulk density, percentage of water content, degree of soil acidity, increase in number of leaves, number of eggplants, and weight of eggplant. The research results showed that EFB in the form of compost applied could influence the bulk density, percentage of water content, degree of soil acidity, increase in the number of leaves, and weight of eggplant, but did not affect the number of eggplant. Application EFB positively correlated with the percentage of water content, degree of soil acidity, increase in number of leaves, and weight of eggplant, with determination effects. At the same time, EFB compost had a negative correlation with bulk density.

Abstract

Water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) and Purun tikus (Eleocharis dulcis) plants are commonly found in rice fields, especially in South Kalimantan, where they act as weeds in the main crop. However, these plants can be utilized as compost to enhance soil nutrients for crops. This study aims to evaluate the effect of compost derived from water hyacinth, Purun tikus, and their combination on the growth and yield of purple eggplant (Solanum melongena). The study uses a Randomized Block Design (RBD) method with four treatments, each repeated six times, resulting in 24 experimental plants as follows: P0 = no treatment (control), P1 = 900 g water hyacinth compost, P2 = 900 g Purun tikus compost, and P3 = a combination of 450 g water hyacinth compost and 450 g Purun tikus compost. The results indicated that, for plant height, treatment P3 yielded an average of 53.61 cm; for leaf count, treatment P3 produced an average of 45.66 leaves; for stem diameter, treatment P1 achieved an average of 9.90 mm; for fruit count, treatment P3 showed an average of 2.16 fruits; and for fresh fruit weight, the best result was achieved by treatment P3, with an average weight of 145.83 g
