Abstract

Jamu merupakan minuman racikan khas Indonesia, digunakan untuk pengobatan yang dapat meningkatkan imunitas tubuh ketika sakit. Penggunaan zat warna pada sebuah kain putih menjadi penambah nilai estetis maupun praktisnya. Minuman jamu merupakan racikan dari beberapa tanaman yang memiliki khasiat. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengkaji, menganalisa, serta melalukan eksperimen terkait pewarnaan alam pada kain dengan membuat ekstraksi jamu yang digunakan sebagai pewarna batik. Di Indonesia, pada ekosistem kecilnya adalah pewarnaan kain putih pada produksi batik yang masih marak menggunakan zat warna sintetis mengakitkan timbulnya masalah pencemaran lingkungan karena limbah yang dibuang langsung tanpa adanya pengolahan terlebih dahulu. Seiring perkembangannya semakin banyak pengusaha maupun pengrajin batik yang menggunakan pewarna batik dari bahan alami, inovasi terus dilakukan dan tidak jarang menggunakan bahan-bahan yang dapat mengangkat kearifan lokal Indonesia. Hal ini menjadi alasan untuk perlunya peningkatan penemuan-penemuan menggunakan bahan-bahan yang memiliki nilai kearifan lokal. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah tipe penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Metode Practice Based Research digunakan dalam proses penciptaan warna alam dari olahan jamu tradisional yang memungkinkan adanya pengetahuan-pengetahuan baru saat proses penelitian berlangsung melalui proses eksperimen.

Abstract

The application of manipulating fabrics to batik can create uniqueness and exclusivity to increase its value. The application of manipulating fabrics on batik can support the development or creation of custom made batik based on creativity to create batik fashion innovation. This can encourage the creation of new product designs to refresh the market. The application of manipulating fabrics to batik provides novelty value because it adds use value to the product. Adding use value to batik products can add to the superiority of the product, namely that apart from being beautiful it also has a certain physical appearance. It is important to develop batik to maintain its sustainability. Batik as a cultural heritage still needs to continue to be developed to be transformed to the younger generation. There are still younger generations who think batik is old fashioned clothing. Batik can be modified to suit current modern fashion trends so that the younger generation is even more enthusiastic about preserving it. One way that can be done is by applying manipulating fabric. The aim of this research is to produce a new product design with the idea of providing additional use value to coastal motif batik products by applying the technique of manipulating fabrics. The method used is qualitative research with a practice-based approach to the creative arts creation process (practice-led research). The result of this research is a batik shawl with fabric manipulation applications in the form of embroidery, slashing and smocking.

Abstract

Abstract. Batik is the result of creating motifs which consists of the integrity of the arrangement of ornaments that decorate the surface of the fabric. Batik motifs are noble works of art because they are philosophical, the basic idea behind the birth of the patterns is the creator's philosophy of life and cosmology. In ancient times, batik fabric was not allowed to have cut motifs and was only wrapped around the human body. But now, batik has developed following fashion trends. For fashion production, batik fabric is processed through cutting with contemporary patterns or models. This will unknowingly reduce the essence of creating batik motifs and their use. In the development of fast fashion, the fashion industry has contributed a lot of waste that damages the environment. One way to reduce this is with zero waste fashion. This article contains a discussion about how to apply the zero waste fashion concept to Pekalongan batik cloth. The zero waste concept used is by applying draping techniques to construct fabric without cutting the material into one complete fashion model. Applying the draping technique to Pekalongan batik cloth makes batik fashion without cutting the material so it doesn't produce waste. Apart from that, batik motifs can appear in their entirety without being cut, just like the initial essence of batik cloth created. The zero waste fashion concept provides greater opportunities for the Pekalongan batik industry so that it does not have a negative impact on the environment and is more sustainable.

Abstract

The national batik industry faces challenges in increasing production efficiency without sacrificing traditional values and environmental sustainability. One of the current challenges lies in the limited flexibility of conventional canting cap tools in accommodating diverse motif variations, which may affect production efficiency and material utilization. This research aims to develop a canting cap based on a modular design that allows batik artisans to arrange, replace, and combine stamp elements as needed. The research method uses a Research and Development (R&D) approach with a design thinking and participatory design model. The process includes problem identification, prototype design, testing, and evaluation with batik artisans. The research results produced a prototype of a modular canting cap made from recycled duplex paper with three mechanism configurations: modular Mechanical interlocking, modular light magnetic locking, and modular strong magnetic locking. The strong magnetic locking configuration proved to be the most ideal because it is stable, precise, and supports the principle of zero waste. This innovation contributes to production efficiency, waste reduction, and supports the transformation of batik into a sustainable creative industry.
