Abstract

The effective coordination of directional overcurrent relays (DOCRs) is essential for maintaining the stability and dependability of power systems. This work presents a modified grey wolf optimization (MGWO) approach for addressing the DOCR coordination problem. The MGWO algorithm improves the original grey wolf optimization (GWO) by increasing convergence characteristics and balancing the exploration and exploitation stages. This equilibrium is attained by a dimension learning-hunting method and a quadratic reduction in the control parameter during the optimization phase. DOCR coordination is optimized using the MGWO method, using decision factors such as pickup current, time dial setting, and curve type. The goal is to reduce the total working time of primary relays while maintaining selectivity and shortening the discrimination time between primary and backup relays. The suggested MGWO technique is evaluated on the IEEE 8 bus system with two scenarios and compared to other optimization approaches. The results reveal that MGWO outperforms previous algorithms, achieving improvements in the objective function ranging from 5.52% to 58.19%. Additionally, the DOCR settings created by MGWO are evaluated using ETAP software to assure compliance with operational requirements and prevent violations of DOCR coordination.Keywords: Directional Overcurrent Relay Coordination, Grey Wolf Optimization, Multiple Curves, Pickup Current, Time Dial Setting.

Abstract

Technological advances in the energy sector, especially electricity, are needed to utilize clean and renewable energy sources towards net zero emissions. This condition supports the use of new, renewable energy (EBT) by the government and society. Together with Mitra (head of Sandik village), the Mataram University Lecturer Community Service Program team will carry out community empowerment in the field of EBT by socializing Presidential Decree No. 5 of 2006 concerning KEN and PP no. 112 of 2022 concerning Accelerating the Development of EBT to supply electrical energy providers as well as introducing solar module installations as a source of electrical energy to support the energy diversification program. The methods used are presentation, discussion, pre-test, post-test, practice, use of solar energy measuring instruments and presentation on installing solar modules as an electricity source. The implementation of this PkM activity was assisted by students majoring in electrical engineering, electrical systems and equipment from Sandik Village. There were 21 men and 9 women taking part in the PkM. The results of the achievement evaluation mean pre-test score to post-test score increased from 49.725 to 72.0375, an average increase of 44.87%. The community's interest in using PLTS as a source of electricity shows the enthusiastic participation of the Sandik village community.

Abstract

Pemerintah terus mempromosikan pemberdayaan perempuan dalam pengembangan energi terbarukan, terutama di pedesaan. Selain itu, pengintegrasian gender dalam energi terbarukan juga dapat meningkatkan pendapatan rumah tangga, selain mendukung transisi energi untuk mengurangi emisi, dengan melakukan sosialisasi meliputi UU No. 30 tahun 2007 tentang Energi, PP No. 75 tahun 2014 tentang KEN, PP No. 112 tahun 2002 tentang percepatan penggunaan EBT dan Inpres No. 9 tahun 2000 (Pengarusutamaan Gender). Kegiatan bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran dan pemahaman masyarakat mengenai konservasi energi, dengan fokus pada peran gender dalam pengelolaan energi rumah tangga. Pelatihan ini melibatkan peserta dari berbagai latar belakang, khususnya perempuan, untuk mendiskusikan praktik hemat energi dan penggunaan sumber energi terbarukan. Melalui pendekatan interaktif, peserta diajak untuk berbagi pengalaman dan tantangan yang dihadapi dalam menerapkan perilaku hemat energi. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa lebih dari 70% peserta tertarik dan berkomitmen untuk beralih ke energi yang lebih berkelanjutan. Selain itu, peran perempuan dalam pengambilan keputusan terkait penggunaan energi di rumah tangga juga mengalami peningkatan sebesar 33,33%. Harapan dari kegiatan ini adalah bisa membantu mencapai transisi energi berkelanjutan di desa Sandik.

Abstract

Abstrak. Keandalan adalah nilai yang diukur melalui menggunakan parameter tertentu. Dalam sistem distribusi keandalan dapat diartikan sebagai kemampuan sistem dalam menyalurkan energi listrik secara optimal. Penelitian ini menganalisis tingkat keandalan sistem distribusi di Gardu Induk Kuta, yang terdiri dari tiga penyulang utama, yaitu penyulang Kuta, Novotel, dan Teluk Awang. Evaluasi keandalan dilakukan dengan menganalisis nilai indeks keandalan berupa SAIDI dan SAIFI dengan dua metode, yaitu metode Section Technique dan Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA). Proses untuk menentukan apakah sistem distribusi memenuhi standar keandalan, penelitian ini mengacu pada SPLN No. 68 dengan nilai SAIFI sebesar 3,2 kali/pelanggan/tahun dan SAIDI sebesar 21 jam/pelanggan/tahun. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa penyulang Novotel memiliki nilai SAIFI terbaik sebesar 4,26 kali/tahun/pelanggan, sedangkan penyulang Teluk Awang memiliki nilai SAIFI tertinggi sebesar 22,198 kali/tahun/pelanggan. Untuk indeks keandalan SAIDI pada penyulang GI Kuta, hanya penyulang Novotel yang sesuai standar SPLN No. 68 dengan nilai 12,9 jam/pelanggan/tahun. Sedangkan, hasil percobaan menggunakan software ETAP menunjukkan bahwa nilai SAIFI pada penyulang Novotel menjadi yang paling kecil dengan nilai 4,458 kali/tahun/pelanggan, sedangkan nilai SAIFI terbesar terjadi pada penyulang Kuta dengan 25,63 kali/tahun/pelanggan.Abstract. Reliability serves as a key indicator represented by an index or numerical value. Broadly, system reliability is defined as the capability of a power system to deliver an adequate electricity supply while maintaining satisfactory quality standards. This study conducts a comprehensive analysis of the reliability level of the distribution system at the Kuta Main Substation. The substation is supported by three feeders: the Kuta feeder, the Novotel feeder, and the Teluk Awang feeder. To assess the reliability of the distribution system, this study refers to SPLN No. 68 of 1986, which sets the SAIFI standard at 3.2 interruptions per customer annually and the SAIDI standard at 21 hours per customer per year. The lowest SAIFI value is found in the Novotel feeder at 4.26 times/year/customer and the highest SAIFI value is found in the Teluk Awang feeder at 22.198 times/year/customer. For the SAIDI values of the three feeders, only the Novotel feeder meets the PT.PLN SAIDI reliability index with a SAIDI value of 12.9 hours/customer/year. While in the ETAP simulation, the lowest SAIFI value is found in the Novotel feeder with a value of 4.458 times/year/customer and the highest in the Kuta feeder with a value of 25.63 times/customer/year.Keywods : Reliability, SAIFI, SAIDI, Section Technique, FMEA

Abstract

This Community service aims to design and implement an independent electric bicycle battery charging system using an Off-grid Solar Power Plant (PLTS) in the campus environment of the University of Mataram. The charging system is designed with two models: charging via an inverter using the bicycle's built-in charger and direct charging using a charging box equipped with a boost converter, charging regulator module, Arduino, current and voltage sensors, and LCD. The electric bicycle battery charging test started at 09:40–16:10 WITA. The initial voltage when charging the battery was 44.04 Volts and the initial battery charging current was 5.86 A. The battery charging time was 6.5 hours until the battery voltage reached 49.98 Volts and the total energy required was 681.02 Wh (Watt-hour). Testing was carried out on two charging methods, namely fixed and non-fixed currents, to compare charging efficiency and effectiveness. The test results show that the independent charging system can charge a 48 Volt 12 Ah electric bicycle battery in about 6.5 hours with a total energy of 681.02 Wh. Charging efficiency through the charger box ranges from 80–98%. This system is considered effective in supporting the use of renewable energy and environmentally friendly transportation in the campus environment.

Abstract

Permasalahan konsumsi energi listrik yang tidak efisien menjadi tantangan penting dalam dunia teknik dan pendidikan. Mahasiswa sebagai calon teknisi dan tenaga ahli perlu dibekali keterampilan dalam menerapkan prinsip efisiensi energi secara praktis, salah satunya melalui instalasi listrik yang tepat guna. Melalui kegiatan pelatihan oleh laboratorium-KBK sistem tenaga Jurusan Teknik Elektro bertujuan meningkatkan kapasitas mahasiswa dalam memahami dan menerapkan sistem pencahayaan yang efisien melalui edukasi teoritis dan praktik pengukuran intensitas cahaya (lux) berdasarkan standar. Kegiatan dilakukan dalam bentuk pelatihan, praktik lapangan, pengukuran lux, dan simulasi instalasi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman konseptual dan keterampilan teknis mahasiswa. Hasil pengukuran intensitas pencahayaan yang telah dilakukan pada ruang laboratorium sistem tenaga peserta melakukan simulasi untuk mengetahui distribusi pencahayaan. Menggunakan Software DIALux-evo memberikan hasil nilai distribusi lux pada setiap area tampak atas dan visualisasi secara 3D. Kegiatan ini menunjukkan pentingnya integrasi edukasi teknis dengan praktik lapangan sebagai strategi penguatan kapasitas mahasiswa dalam bidang ketenagalistrikan.

Abstract

This study analyzes the six big losses affecting the effectiveness of injection molding machines to enhance production efficiency in the plastics industry. Utilizing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) as a key metric, the research measures availability, performance, and quality rates across ten injection molding machines to identify dominant loss factors. Through Pareto analysis and fishbone diagrams, the study pinpoints mold replacement, drool in the nozzle, and color replacement as primary contributors to reduced OEE. Data collected via interviews, observations, and company records reveal that idling, minor stops, and equipment failures account for significant time losses, with specific machines exhibiting OEE values as low as 56%. Recommendations include implementing preventive maintenance, standardizing machine parameters, improving production scheduling, and providing operator training to align with Total Productive Maintenance principles. These strategies aim to minimize downtime and optimize equipment utilization, offering practical solutions for improving productivity and competitiveness in manufacturing.

Abstract

This community service program aims to empower residents of Sandik Village, Batulayar District, West Lombok, in preparation for the transition from using LPG gas stoves to electric stoves. Given the urgent need to switch to more environmentally friendly energy, this activity focuses on electrical installation training that meets safety and efficiency standards. This training is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of installation procedures, handling of electrical equipment, and safety in using electric stoves. The training activities involve the participation of experienced electricians and practitioners, who provide comprehensive materials and demonstrations. Participants are trained in correct electrical installation techniques, and are taught about the importance of regular maintenance and inspections to prevent potential hazards. In addition, this program also includes giving prizes to outstanding participants and handing over donations of electric stoves to the village office as a symbol of support and commitment to the energy transition. The results of this program are expected to include increasing community knowledge and skills in carrying out electrical installations, as obtained from the results of the participant knowledge test which averaged above 70, or 68%, in addition to the readiness of household infrastructure for the use of electric stoves, and strengthening awareness of the importance of clean energy. The success of this program will be measured based on an assessment of the improvement in participants' skills, readiness of installation in residents' homes, and the ability of the community to adopt new technologies effectively and sustainably. Abstract

The development of an off-grid hybrid energy system based on local energy potential offers a solution to improve energy access in remote areas. Lenek Village, located in East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), has renewable energy potential in the form of solar and biomass energy. This study aims to conduct a technical and economic analysis of an off-grid hybrid energy system that utilizes this local energy potential using HOMER software. The study evaluates the renewable energy fraction, capital cost, operating cost, and overall system economic feasibility. The results show that the energy supply combination includes a photovoltaic (PV) fraction of 15%, biomass generator of 15%, and wind energy of 69%, at a competitive cost. The use of HOMER software facilitates system analysis and optimization. The total cost required for overall power generation (Total Net Present Cost) is US$2,351,595, with a cost of energy (COE) of US$0.674 per kWh.
