Abstract

People consider inorganic waste to be useless even though it can be turned into beautiful crafts. Examples of crafts from inorganic waste are pencil cases, flowers, key chains, vases and so on. The activities carried out by UNRI KKN students aim to convert inorganic waste into useful and economically valuable goods. This activity was carried out at village Kulim Jaya Kempas Subdistrict,Indragiri Hilir using the Learning by Doing approach. UNRI KKN students learn by practicing directly how to process inorganic waste into flower crafts from straws using prepared tools and materials. This approach is more effective in achieving outcomes in KKN activities in Kulim jaya. The result of implementing this Integrated Real Work Lecture (KKN) activity is to provide information and innovation about managing inorganic waste into crafts so that students are able to process inorganic waste into creative crafts. This activity can also be an option to reduce waste, especially inorganic waste. Most trash comes from people living in towns and cities; most of it is biodegradable (around 75 percent) and the remainder is inorganic. Briquettes, compost, and biogas are just a few of the many products that have benefited from organic waste's widespread use. However, only a small percentage of garbage is being recycled into compost or compostable materials. Meanwhile, inorganic waste is very difficult to recycle and cannoteven be recycled naturally, so it requires a very large area of land to offset the production of this waste. Garbage is one of the problems of human life. When people's perspectives of waste, which once saw waste as worthless waste, are changed into crafts that have uses and economic value, those people's perceptions of waste shift, too.

Abstract

PT PLN (Persero) is a state electricity company that plays a crucial role in the distribution of electricity for the needs of the community, including supporting transportation activities, electronic devices at home/office/school/hospital, and, of course, electricity for a better life. In the current era, the challenges and demands for service and the reliability of electricity supply from customers are very high. In such conditions, the speed of handling during power disturbances becomes a benchmark, so both preventive and corrective work needs to be improved to maintain the reliability of the electricity supply, considering the values of SAIDI-SAIFI, Recovery Time, and ENS in electrical disturbances. In the distribution of electrical energy to consumers, there is a protective device called FCO (Fuse Cut Out). According to SPLN 64:1985 and SPLN D3.026:2017, FCO is a protective device that operates when there is an excess current disturbance. This device will disconnect one electrical circuit from another when the current passing through exceeds its working capacity. The working principle of FCO is to melt the fuse link inside the FCO tube, causing the FCO to detach. FCO is installed in the 20 kV distribution network, serving as protection for distribution transformers and network protection at branching points.

Abstract

Several issues with public street lighting are often found and do not meet the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). Common problems include uneven spacing between streetlight poles, improper pole heights, poorly organized streetlight installations, and incorrect selection of lamp types and wattages according to the SNI standards. The lack of streetlights on busy road sections results in inefficient operation and discomfort for road users due to inadequate light intensity at the streetlight locations caused by various factors. To address these issues, solutions are needed to improve the existing situation, including energy-saving measures for public street lighting. Some necessary actions include replacing non-compliant streetlights and conducting evaluations by relevant authorities after installation works are completed. The existing condition of streetlights along the Semayang Toll Road shows an average illumination level produced by 150W SON-T lamps of 3.1 lux with light uniformity of 0.0, which does not comply with SNI 7391:2008. Simulation results using Dialux 4.13 software indicate that the average illumination level produced by Philips LED luminaires of 150W is 11 lux with a light uniformity of 0.106 lux, meeting SNI 7391:2008 requirements. Similarly, for Philips LED luminaires of 120W, the average illumination level is 11 lux with a light uniformity of 0.114 lux, thus meeting the standards. Based on the simulation results using Dialux 4.13 software, the use of 120W LED lamps for public street lighting on the Semayang Toll Road can lead to a 20% reduction in electricity consumption.

Abstract

The distribution system of electrical power networks serves as a means to distribute electrical energy to both industrial and household consumers. With the increasing population growth, the number of electrical energy users or consumers also increases, potentially impacting the loading on each distribution transformer. If the loading on each transformer increases, it can lead to overload, load imbalance, power losses, and damage to the transformer. Therefore, to ensure the proper operation of distribution transformers, PLN (a state-owned electricity company in Indonesia) has set a standard for the loading on distribution transformers, which should not exceed 80%. This research aims to measure the loading on distribution transformers and analyze the occurrence of power losses caused by load imbalance. Measurements are conducted using a clamp meter and earth tester to obtain current and voltage values as well as the resistance value of grounding. Subsequently, calculations are performed for transformer loading, load imbalance, and power losses on the feeder.

Abstract

The effective coordination of directional overcurrent relays (DOCRs) is essential for maintaining the stability and dependability of power systems. This work presents a modified grey wolf optimization (MGWO) approach for addressing the DOCR coordination problem. The MGWO algorithm improves the original grey wolf optimization (GWO) by increasing convergence characteristics and balancing the exploration and exploitation stages. This equilibrium is attained by a dimension learning-hunting method and a quadratic reduction in the control parameter during the optimization phase. DOCR coordination is optimized using the MGWO method, using decision factors such as pickup current, time dial setting, and curve type. The goal is to reduce the total working time of primary relays while maintaining selectivity and shortening the discrimination time between primary and backup relays. The suggested MGWO technique is evaluated on the IEEE 8 bus system with two scenarios and compared to other optimization approaches. The results reveal that MGWO outperforms previous algorithms, achieving improvements in the objective function ranging from 5.52% to 58.19%. Additionally, the DOCR settings created by MGWO are evaluated using ETAP software to assure compliance with operational requirements and prevent violations of DOCR coordination. Keywords: Directional Overcurrent Relay Coordination, Grey Wolf Optimization, Multiple Curves, Pickup Current, Time Dial Setting.

Abstract

This study explores the optimisation of light intensity on solar cells to improve their energy efficiency. With the increasing global demand for energy and environmental issues due to dependence on fossil fuels, renewable energy sources, particularly solar energy, have become important. However, the efficiency of solar cells remains a challenge, with typical commercial efficiency ranging from 15% to 22%. This research investigates the impact of light intensity on solar cell performance and identifies strategies to optimise it. Factors such as semiconductor material quality, panel angle and orientation, and external conditions like weather and pollution are considered. The study shows that optimising light intensity can significantly enhance the energy conversion efficiency of solar cells. Methods such as using mirrors to concentrate sunlight and adjusting panel positions are explored to maximise light intensity. These findings contribute to the development of more efficient solar cell technology, aiding the broader adoption of clean energy solutions.

Abstract

The need for electricity is increasing due to the rise of human living standards, therefore, the provision and supply of electrical energy must be increased. To meet the increasing electricity demand, the construction of new generating plants or expanding of the transmission network is required. The most rational alternative to overcome the growing load in the Bengkulu Province is to construct a 150 kV transmission network from Kambang (Pesisir Selatan, West Sumatra Province) to Bengkulu (Bengkulu Province). Therefore, the Bengkulu region gets electricity supply from two areas, i.e.  the Central Sumatra Subsystem and the South Sumatra Jambi and Bengkulu Subsystem (S2JB). This 150 kV Transmission line span across of 396 kms that is matched with the government policy as an effort to enhance network reliability and adequacy of electricity supply in Sumatera region. This research aims to plan a transmission line from Kambang to Bengkulu City using load forecast based on the 2019-2028 RUPTL data of the Bengkulu area until year 2050. Calculation of 150 kV transmission line configuration is conducted by considering voltage regulation and load flow analysis by ETAP Software. The result of the Kambang – Bengkulu transmission line planning has capacity of 200 MW with receiving voltage of 150 kV, and frequency of 50 Hz, using 240 mm2 ACSR conductors with double circuit configuration and 2 bundle of conductor per circuit. The transmission line resistance is , the inductance of    and the capacitance of . The voltage regulation is 2,1% and the total line loss is 1.574 MW
