Abstract

Mathematics learning often faces challenges in helping students understand abstract concepts, which can result in low student motivation and interest. This article discusses the application of graph algorithms, especially Dijkstra's algorithm, in the context of collaborative learning to improve the effectiveness of interactions between students. Through a systematic approach, this study collects and analyzes relevant literature, including journal articles, conference proceedings, and other sources that discuss graph theory and its applications in education. The results of the study indicate that the integration of graph algorithms in collaborative learning methods can improve student engagement and understanding. This study also highlights the importance of technology in supporting the learning process, and provides a comprehensive picture of the effectiveness of Dijkstra's algorithm in optimizing mathematics learning. These findings are expected to contribute to the development of more innovative and effective teaching strategies in mathematics education.

Abstract

This research aims to map learning trajectories and analyze the effectiveness of using learning media in improving students' understanding of material derived from algebraic functions in class XII SMAN 12 Medan. Considering students' difficulties in understanding abstract concepts, this research develops a learning trajectory by involving various learning media, such as PowerPoint presentations, animated videos, manual teaching aids, namely the Derivative Wheel, digital teaching aids, namely GeoGebra, and LKPD as a means of driving student activity. This research focuses on developing realistic and contextual learning methods. This research reveals that the use of a combination of diverse educational media can help students understand the concept of abstract and complex derivatives of algebraic functions, as well as increase student participation in the learning process. This research emphasizes the importance of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach to creating contextual and relevant learning, as well as providing recommendations for teachers to continue developing innovative learning methods.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa SMP pada materi Sistem Persamaan Linear Dua Variabel (SPLDV) setelah diterapkan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Think Pair Share (TPS). Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif deskriptif dengan subjek 23 siswa kelas IX-4 SMP Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan. Data diperoleh melalui tes pemecahan masalah yang mencakup empat indikator, yaitu memahami masalah, merencanakan penyelesaian, melaksanakan rencana, dan meninjau kembali hasil. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif berupa rata-rata, standar deviasi, dan pengelompokan kemampuan ke dalam kategori tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 27,27% siswa berada pada kategori tinggi, 54,54% berada pada kategori sedang, dan 18,18% berada pada kategori rendah. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa penerapan model TPS mampu membantu sebagian besar siswa mencapai kemampuan pemecahan masalah pada kategori sedang hingga tinggi, meskipun beberapa siswa masih memerlukan bimbingan lebih lanjut. Dengan demikian, model TPS dapat dijadikan alternatif strategi pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis pada materi SPLDV.
