Abstract

Many researches showed that the most of students find the difficulty in measuring area. The formula of area tends to be taught directly without involving the conceptual basis and the area measurement are separated from children's daily experiences. For this reason, the teaching and learning of area measurement was designed and link to a set of students' experience-based activities. The context of this research is Indonesian traditional handicraft namely anyaman. The study is situated in the context of implementing an Indonesian version of Realistic Mathematics Education, labeled as PMRI in Indonesia. Design Research methodology comprising preliminary design, teaching experiment, and retrospective analysis is applied. This research described the investigation of the context as preliminary of teaching and learning about area measurement held in 3th grade of primary school SDN 119 Palembang. The result of the teaching experiment showed that problem embedded in a context could encourage the students to develop the idea of area measurement concept. The strategies through emergent modeling showed how students' contribution could be used to develop gradually their reasoning of area measurement concept. In the experience-based activities for learning area measurement, emergent modeling played an important role in the shift of students' reasoning from informal level towards formal mathematical concepts of area measurement.

Abstract

ABSTRAKSalah satu usaha yang ditempuh untuk meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan matematika adalah dengan pemanfaatan teknologi internet atau e-learning yang mendukung suatu sistem lingkungan belajar virtual. Tulisan ini membahas hal-hal yang mendukung dan hal-hal yang harus dipertimbangkan untuk membangun sistem lingkungan belajar virtual dengan menggunakan teknologi internet atau web.Tujuan dari tulisan ini adalah untuk mendekripsikan desain suatu lingkungan belajar virtual untuk siswa SMP/MTs pada pembelajaran matematika dengan pendekatan pembelajaran matematika realistik yang dapat digunakan sekolah untuk membantu meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran matematika di tingkat menengah. Desain lingkungan belajar virtual ini dibangun dengan dukungan weblog yang mengandung berbagai fasilitas dan informasi bagaimana mempersiapkan, menggunakan dan mengelola perangkat pembalajaran secara baik berdasarkan materi matematika yang diajarkan disekolah.Kata kunci: weblog, lingkungan belajar, Pendidikan Matematika Realistik IndonesiaABSTRACTThe e-learning utilization that support a virtual learning environment is one of the attemptin increasing the mathematics learning quality. Abstract

Media pembelajaran ialah suatu alat yang membantu untuk proses pembelajaran berfungsi memperjelas makna pesan atau informasi ingin disampaikan, sehingga mencapai tujuan pembelajaran yang telah direncanakan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh media pembelajaran learning management system berbasis problem based learning (PBL) Pada materi balok dan kubus untuk siswa smp kelas VIII yang layak dilihat dari aspek kevalidan, kepraktisan dan keefektifan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Research and Development model ADDIE. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dilihat dari aspek kevalidan, penilaian validator materi adalah 4,22 sedangkan penilaian validator media adalah 4,15 yang termasuk dalam kategori sangat layak. Berdasarkan aspek kepraktisan, hasil respon penilaian peserta didik terhadap uji coba kelompok kecil adalah 4,08 termasuk kategori praktis dan aspek keefektifan hasil respon penilaian peserta didik terhadap uji coba kelompok besar adalah 4,15 termasuk kategori efektif. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa media pembelajaran learning management system (LMS) berbasis problem based learning (PBL) Pada materi balok dan kubus untuk siswa smp kelas VIII dinyatakan layak sebab valid, praktis dan efektif digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran.Kata Kunci: Media pembelajaran, e-Learning, problem based learning. ABSTRACTLearning media is a tool that helps the learning process function to clarify the meaning of the message or information to be conveyed, so as to achieve the planned learning objectives. This study aims to obtain a learning management system based on problem based learning (PBL) media on block and cube material for class VIII junior high school students that is feasible from the aspect of validity, practicality and effectiveness. This type of research is Research and Development model ADDIE. The results showed that from the aspect of validity, the material validator's assessment was 4.22 while the media validator's assessment was 4.15 which was included in the very feasible category. Based on the practical aspect, the results of the student's assessment response to the small group trial were 4.08 including the practical category and the effectiveness aspect of the student's assessment response to the large group trial was 4.15 including the effective category. Thus, it can be concluded that the learning management system (LMS) learning media based on problem based learning (PBL) on block and cube material for class VIII junior high school students is declared feasible because it is valid, practical and effective to use in the learning process.Keywords: Learning media, e-Learning, problem based learning.

Abstract

AbstractThis study was carried out (1) to improve students mathematical problem solving ability through mathematics learning approach at the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 17 Medan T.A 2015/2016, (2) to find the improvement of students mathematical problem solving ability through mathematics learning approach at the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 17 Medan T.A 2015/2016. The participants of this study were the 32 students of VIII-2 class of SMP Negeri 17 Medan and the objective of the study was improving students mathematical problem solving ability in prism an limas subject. The method of this study was classroom action research. The instruments of this study were test and observation. This study was consisted of two cycles; each cycle consisted of two meetings. The improvement of the problem solving ability could be seen from each step of problem solving in the intial capability test, problem solving ability test I and problem solving solving ability test II. In the step of problem solving, the score in the initial capability test was 59,20 (low), problem solving ability test I was 80,08 (high), problem solving ability test II was 89,45 (high). In the step of  constructuring plan of problem solving, the score in the initial capability test was 45,80 (very low), problem solving ability test I was 72,88 (average), problem solving ability test II was 81,47 (high). In the step of doing plan of problem solving, the score in the initial capability test was 52,05 (low), problem solving ability test I was 78,61 (average), problem solving ability test II was 85,38 (high). In the step crosscheck, the score in the initial capability test was 29,69 (very low), ), problem solving ability test I was 71,48 (average), problem solving ability test II was 81,25 (high). So, it was obtained that the lowest step in the problem solving ability was the step of crosscheck. Furhermore, the ability of the researcher in managing lessons increased from cycle I to cycle II. In pre-activity 2,63 became 3,12. In main activity 2,47 became 3,05. In post-activity 2,75 became 3,75. So, it was concluded that realistic mathematics learning approach did improve the mathematical problem solving ability of the eight students of SMP Negeri 17 Medan in prism and limas subject.Kata kunci : realistic mathematics learning approach, problem solving

Abstract

AbstrakThis article is a report of trialing PISA problems designed in secondary school. This report explores students’ strategies in solving PISA problems which has three criterion, namely content, context and competencies. Hopefully, first, they should be usual with the PISA problems related to description of the situation and the students have to discover and solve the problems with their own strategies. Second, they can solve the problem without require applying formulas or procedures, so that they have sense to mathematics.Keyword: PISA Problem

Abstract

Many research studied that realistic mathematics education (RME) can be an alternative solution to students’ difficulties in learning mathematics. Various forms of technology additionally are further employed to support students' mathematical achievements. However, research on the implementation of virtual learning environments (VLE) with the RME approach is still lacking. The main goals of this research were to create an instructional process of virtual learning environments on realistic mathematics education to improve seventh graders' mathematical modeling abilities and to examine the effect of designs on mathematical modeling ability. Theory of realistic mathematics education and virtual learning environment literature were integrated. The design model developed was verified by experts to be tested. The pre-test / post-test test method was carried out to see the effectiveness of the design. The sixty-seventh graders from a secondary school in North Sumatera were selected as samples. The instructional process developed consists of four stages, namely (1) purposing contextual problems, (2) defining situations from contextual problems, (3) solving problems individually or in groups, and (4) reviewing and comparing solutions. The developed virtual learning environment consists of 5 components, namely (1) users management, (2) content and activities management, (3) resources management, (4) visualization and communication management, and (5) evaluation and assessment management. The mathematical modeling ability concerning experimental group students is significantly higher after being taught through a realistic mathematics education instructional process via a virtual learning environment. Comparison of the experimental group with the control group also showed the same results.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan dan menghasilkan produk perangkat pembelajaran berbasis realistic mathematic educations (RME) berbantuan learning management system (LMS) yang valid, praktis dan efektif pada materi persamaan kuadrat. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian dan pengembangan (Research and Development) yang mengacu pada model pengembangan ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Subjek yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X MIA 2 SMA Negeri 1 Sipoholon yang berjumlah 33 orang. Sedangkan objek penelitian ini adalah perangkat pembelajaran realistic mathematics education (RME) berbantuan learning management system (LMS). Instrument yang digunakan adalah angket validasi materi, media, respon siswa dan guru serta tes hasil ketuntasan belajar siswa. Hasil dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Kevalidan produk perangkat pembelajaran berdasarkan penilaian ahli materi dan ahli media memperoleh skor rata-rata sebesar 3,37 dan 3,5 dengan kategori sangat valid. (2) Kepraktisan perangkat pembelajaran berdasarkan hasil penilaian guru adalah 85,71% dalam hal ini tergolong sangat praktis dan skor kepraktisan berdasarkan hasil penilaian siswa adalah 84,41% dalam hal ini tergolong sangat praktis. (3) Keefektifan perangkat pembelajaran diperoleh dari hasil ketuntasan belajar siswa secara klasikal adalah 84,84% sehingga secara klasikal memenuhi kriteria pencapaian ketuntasan dan siswa merespon positif terhadap perangkat dengan pencapaian persentase sebesar 92,64% yang termasuk dalam kategori positif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran berbasis realistic mathematic educations (RME) berbantuan learning management system (LMS) pada materi persamaan kuadrat ini dapat dikatakan layak dengan kategori valid, praktis, dan efektif

Abstract

This research has the aim of developing and producing a mobile learning module product based on microlearning that is valid, practical and effective for use on the material of a two-variable linear equation system. The type of research used is research and development (Research and Development) which refers to the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The subjects used in this study were students of class X SMA N 1 Sorkam, totaling 35 people. Besides, the object of this research is a mobile learning module based on microlearning.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to produce learning media products in the form of digital-based learning modules using valid, practical, and effective microlearning methods on Lines and Angles. This research uses a type of development research with the development model used, namely the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The subjects in this study were 30 students of class VII-1 at Bina Bersaudara Private Middle School Medan. While the object of this study is a digital-based learning module using the microlearning method. The results in this study indicate that: (1) The validity of the learning module based on the assessment of material experts and media experts obtained an average score of 89.29% and 89.76% in the valid category. (2) The practicality of the learning module based on the results of the teacher's assessment is 92.5% with the criteria of 'very practical' and the practicality score based on the results of the student assessment is 92.4% with the criteria of 'very practical'. (3) The effectiveness of the learning module is obtained from the results of classical student mastery of 90.0%, the achievement of indicators of mathematical literacy is 85.42%, the learning time used does not exceed ordinary learning, and students respond positively to the learning module with an achievement of a percentage of 92.4% which fall into the 'very positive' category. Based on the research results, the development of digital-based learning modules using the microlearning method on Lines and Angles material can be said to be feasible with valid, practical, and effective categories.
