Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to find out the comparison between the GWR poco-poco gymnastic exercise and the Indonesian Asthma Gymnastics exercise to increase the ability of Volume Oxygen Maximum (VO2max). The method used in this study is a pure experimental method (true experiment), while the research design used is the pre-test-post-test control group design. The population in this study were 16 students of Physical Education. The data collection technique for the VO2max test uses a Multi-Stage Test (Bleep Test). The data analysis technique uses Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The results of this study indicate that there is a significant effect of Poco-poco Gymnastic exercises 31.94 > 2.31) and Indonesian Asthma Gymnastics exercises (33.92 > 2.31) on the ability to increase VO2max in Physical Education Students at PGRI Palembang University. The conclusion of this study is that Indonesian Asman exercises are better than Poco poco gymnastic exercises in increasing VO2max.

Abstract

Objective. The primary objective of this study is to investigate the potential impact of zig-zag running training on the dribbling speed of basketball extracurricular students enrolled at SMP Negeri 1 Bunga Mayang OKU Timur. The study aims to analyze whether this particular training technique can improve the students' dribbling speed, which is a crucial skill in basketball. The study will collect data from a sample of students and analyze the results to conclude the effectiveness of zig-zag running training on dribbling speed. Materials and methods. This is descriptive quantitative research that uses data analysis techniques to measure instruments or tests. The research employs T-test statistical data to conduct normality and hypothesis tests. The research subjects are students participating in basketball extracurricular activities at SMP Negeri 1 Bunga Mayang. Results. According to the analysis of the research data, the value of t_table is 1.860. This value has been obtained from the t distribution with dk (10-2) = 8 and α=0.05, as listed in the table. The hypothesis testing criteria indicate that if t_count > t_table, the Hα hypothesis is accepted, and if Ho t_count < t_tabel, it is rejected. The t_count value in this case is 14.09, which is greater than the t_table value of 1.860. Therefore, we can conclude that there is a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test. Conclusion. After conducting the necessary tests and analysis, it has been found that the Ho hypothesis, which stated that there is no significant influence of zig-zag running training on dribbling speed in basketball extracurricular students at SMP Negeri 1 Bunga Mayang OKU Timur, is not supported by the data. On the other hand, the Hα hypothesis, which states that there is an influence of zig-zag running training on dribbling speed in the same group of students, has been confirmed by the results of the study. Therefore, it can be concluded that the zig-zag running training has a positive impact on the dribbling speed of basketball extracurricular students at SMP Negeri 1 Bunga Mayang OKU Timur.

Abstract

Low learning motivation in Physical Education, Sport, and Health (PESH) remains a persistent challenge at the junior high school level, particularly in schools with limited access to innovative instructional models. This study aims to: (1) develop a valid Dam-Daman traditional game–based PESH learning model, (2) test its practicality, and (3) identify its effect on students' learning motivation. The research employed the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) combined with Tessmer's formative evaluation. Product trials involved expert validation (n=3), one-to-one testing (n=3), small group testing (n=6), and a field test with pretest-posttest design (n=23 students) at SMP Ma'arif NU Tugumulyo, Musi Rawas Regency. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean, SD, percentage) and inferential statistics (Shapiro-Wilk normality test, paired sample t-test, N-gain, and Cohen's d effect size). Expert validation results showed high validity for learning design (M=4.9, SD=0.18), material/content (M=3.9, SD=0.32), and media (M=4.3, SD=0.27). Practicality was very high in one-to-one (M=4.5, SD=0.35) and small group stages (M=4.3, SD=0.41). The field test revealed a significant increase in motivation from pretest (79, 56.4%) to posttest (119, 85.0%) with t (22)=12.347, p=0.000, N-gain=0.66 (moderate effectiveness), and Cohen's d=4.87 (large effect). The findings align with Keller's ARCS motivation model and Vygotsky's play theory, demonstrating that cultural relevance, game-based structure, and systematic development contribute to the model's effectiveness. However, limitations include the absence of a control group and single-school setting. In conclusion, the Dam-Daman game–based PESH learning model is valid, highly practical, and has a statistically significant large effect on junior high school students' learning motivation. This model is recommended as a contextual and enjoyable alternative for PESH instruction.

Abstract

Lower-limb power is essential for futsal because players repeatedly sprint, accelerate, decelerate, change direction, and jump, yet school-based extracurricular programs need training that is both effective and feasible for students with different readiness levels. This study examined whether the plyometric training method (squat jump vs. lunge-based plyometrics) and motor ability level (high vs. low) were associated with changes in lower-limb power in a junior high school futsal extracurricular program. Using a quasi-experimental 2×2 factorial framework, 40 students from SMP YPS Prabumulih City, Indonesia, completed a supervised plyometric program delivered over 16 sessions (four sessions per week) from October to November 2025. Motor ability testing classified students into high and low groups, and lower-limb power was assessed using a vertical jump test before and after training. Vertical jump scores increased significantly in all groups (p < 0.001): squat jump–low motor ability from 40.4 (SD 3.31) to 51.8 (SD 3.19), lunges–low from 37.0 (SD 3.30) to 47.9 (SD 2.60), squat jump–high from 36.9 (SD 4.04) to 48.2 (SD 4.37), and lunges–high from 44.2 (SD 2.53) to 54.8 (SD 2.20). These findings provide practical, school-context evidence that both plyometric options can be implemented and are linked with meaningful improvements across motor ability levels; however, conclusions about comparative superiority and interaction effects are limited by the single-site design and absence of a non-training control group. Future multi-site controlled studies with explicit factorial testing are recommended to confirm effectiveness and clarify method-by-motor-ability interactions.
