Abstract

This study aims to determine the anatomical structure of wood and its possiblity uses for trade in Aceh Besar District. The research was carried out by observing 13 wood samples from the Bogorience 1915 xylarium wood collection. The observed samples included macroscopic and microscopic characteristics. Macroscopic characteristics include texture, color, pattern, texture, and grain direction of the wood. Microscopic characteristics observed were growth circumference boundaries, vessels, pores, dots, and radii based on the International Association of Wood Anatomists (IAWA) book. Each preparation was observed using a microscope and analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the anatomical structures of the macroscopic and microscopic properties of the 13 Aceh Besar wood species varied in terms of texture, grain direction, radius size, crystal type, fiber length, vessel length, and fiber wall thickness. While the pattern, color, distribution of pores, type of dots, type of perforation area, type of parenchyma cells, and the composition of the cells composing the radius show uniformity, and two kinds of wood have prismatic crystals, namely Surian wood in upright cells and Bangkirai wood in straight cells lie down. The 13 types of wood, 46% include strong class I-II for construction, bridges, pillars, and floors. Meanwhile, 54% is classified as strong class III-V as a material for making furniture, doors, windows, and products that do not require heavy strength.

Abstract

Cibadak Karst Area which is located in Ciampea District has a high selling value so it can be utilized by the tourism sector, especially ecotourism. The Cibadak Karst Area is in the work area of Perum Perhutani, Bogor Forest Management Unit (KPH), Jawa Barat and Banten Regional Division. Currently the Lalana Peak ecotourism area is managed by the surrounding community. Lalana Peak is one of the main destinations for visitors who travel to the Cibadak Karst Area because it has a slightly spurring hiking trail adrenaline and has a unique exokarst landscape. The instrument used in this research is HIRARDC (Hazard Identification Assesment and Risk Assesment and Determining Control) form and this research is using analysis guidelines guided by the Australian Standard/ New Zealand Standard for Risk Management (AS/NZS 4360:2004). The interpretation track of Lalana peak has the hazard potential consist of physical, biological and human activity hazards. Risk level identification of potential hazard in the interpretation track of Lalana Peak are acceptable, priority 3, substantial and priority 1. The Risk control plan that can be carried out by the manager Lalana Peak area are technical, substitution and administration control.

Abstract

Jati Unggul Nusantara (JUN) trubusan umur 8 tahun memiliki karakteristik yang lebih rendah dibandingkan jati konvensional, oleh karenanya perlu dilakukan perlakuan agar kayu JUN trubusan dapat meningkat karekteristik fisika dan mekanikanya. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian awal dalam upaya peningkatan kualitas fisika dan mekanika kayu JUN trubusan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik fisika dan mekanika kayu JUN trubusan umur 8 tahun yang tumbuh di Kebun Percobaan UNB. Sampel diambil dari tegakan JUN trubusan umur 8 tahun yang dipilih memiliki batang relatif silindris, diameter diatas 20 cm, tinggi bebas cabang diatas 5 meter. Uji contoh diambil pada 3 bagian pohon, yaitu pangkal, tengah dan ujung pohon untuk melihat keragamannya. Pengujian karakteristik fisika menggunakan British Standar (1957, No. 373), pengujian karakteristik mekanika menggunakan American Society of Testing Materials (ASTM) D143-14. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa kayu trubusan JUN umur 8 tahun memiliki KA kering udara 16%, berat jenis 0,641, kerapatan 0,624 gr/cm2. Sedangkan karakteristik mekanika yaitu MOR sebesar 465,98 Kg/cm2 dan nilai MOE sebesar 44212,657 Kg/cm2. Kesimpulannya bahwa untuk meningkatkan kualitas fisika dan mekanika kayu JUN trubusan umur 8 tahun membutuhkan peningkatan 1 tingkat kelas Kuat.

Abstract

The mountain forest area of Mount Halimun Salak National Park (TNGHS) needs to be maintained and protected for its habitat and ecological functions. The existing habitats include Palahlar (Dipterocarpus retusus Blume) and Saninten (Castanopsis argentea), which are rare plants endemic to TNGHS. Currently, its existence is decreasing, so conservation efforts need to be carried out together with the community. Community Partnership Program (PKM) activities aim to increase knowledge to develop KTH MKK Cisangku, especially in the field of seeding rare seeds endemic to TNGHS, as well as increasing the marketing of seeds produced by KTH MKK Cisangku nurseries in order to increase the economic income of its members. PKM activities carried out include socialization, nursery, practical training, digital marketing training, and social media management. Overall, the empowerment of KTH MKK Cisangku, Malasari Village, resulted in an 11.6% increase in the knowledge of its members regarding the development of seed nurseries for rare plants endemic to TNGHS, as well as an expansion of the marketing network for seeds produced by KTH MKK Cisangku nurseries through social media.
