Abstract

This research aimed at analyzing and describing the use of multilingual code mixing as one of communication tool specially conducted in Karang Buyuk, Ampenan. Multilingual Code Mixing used by the people in Karang Buyuk, Ampenan in daily conversation and communication among sasak community and other community, people in Karang Buyuk, Ampenan want to show their solidarity and their prestige in society. The method which was applied in this research was a descriptive qualitative approach) in this case the writer use ethnograpy method. The data being analyzed are descriptive data in form of written words and sentences. The writer used some observation and also interview to collect data and he record the data. Based on the recording, he makes the transcrip and analysis the data. He seperated the data based on some criteria such as education level, age, gender, occupation, topic, and situation. This criteria used by the writer to analysis the data resources, and answer the research question. Based on the data results of the analysis, some of the important research finding are stated as follows; Firts people in Karang Buyuk, Ampenan are varied on some aspects, such as education level, age, occupation, situation and any other aspect that influence the language. Second, the poeple use code mixing among the sasak people is to show their prestige in the society, and they are proud in using code mixing, and if they make the conversation with different ethnic group the people in Karang Buyuk want to show their solidarity and to avoid the interethnic conflict among the society

Abstract

AbstractThis community service activity aims to improve English communication skills for tour guides in Bonder Village, West Praya District, Central Lombok Regency. In carrying out this community service activity, the service team uses the interview method and provides questionnaires related to the problems and constraints of the tour guides in communicating using English. The implementation of the service is carried out by giving a pre-test by observing the tour guides in carrying out their duties to accompany and explain the objects of each tourist village to the trainer. From this activity, the tour guides have high motivation to take part in these activities so that training can provide benefits in an effort to improve the English language skills of local guides, so that it is hoped that service to guests who visit tourist areas in Bonder village, Praya Barat District, Central Lombok, in particular can be given optimally, especially foreign guests who come

Abstract

The aim of the research was to analyze the courage and modesty as the attributes of moral value in The Old Man And The Sea. This research was descriptive qualitative research. The data were words, phrases, sentences or fragments from the first until the last chapters. The result of this research were: (1)Santiago’s being determined, being hard-working and perseverance, and optimistic of what he did (2)The attribute of being modest or modesty was displayed in various characteristics of Santiago. Some characteristics of Santiago were being unselfish, care, respect, loving, feeling lonely, sympathetic, and even feeling of regretful after killing a fish. The attribute of being modest was displayed by showing that the old man behaves as if he were the father of the young boy Manolin. In terms of being religious, the old man displayed the characteristic of being grateful to God when he realized that God had made the fish not as intelligent as human. This, in the old man’s view, made it possible that human could kill the fish. In such a feeling, he also imagined if only the fish were as intelligent as human. This novel revealed the Courage and Modesty in details.

Abstract

Curriculum is a guide that has a very crucial role in the learning process. As a guide that determines success in achievement in learning, it is necessary to make improvements in the preparation of the curriculum, therefore curriculum 13 is designed for learning in the 21st century. The aim of this research is to investigate the strategies of EFL teachers in applying the 21st century skills embedded in the 2013 curriculum. This research uses a qualitative research approach. Research data were obtained through in-depth interviews, document analysis, and observation. The data analysis in this research used descriptive qualitative. The findings of this study indicate that: 1) Four English teachers at SMAN 1 Pringgarata usedasking questions, group discussions, debates, role play, inquiry-based learning, project-based learning, and social media to teach, students acquire using these strategies learning skills, literacy skills, and life skills such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, information literacy, media literacy, technology literacy, flexibility, social, and leadership skills in which these skills are embedded in 2013 curriculum 2) The problems faced by teachers were different characters of students, lack of student motivation, mastery of teaching strategies was low, crowded class, limited teaching time allotment, and lack of learning resources. 3) In overcoming this problem, the teacher offers several solutions to become an independent teacher in search of additional material, approaching students who have low motivation in class, have manuals to make the management class better, and use games in teaching to make learning fun.

Abstract

The aimed of this research was to find out whether the implanting of mobile social networking can be able to improve the student’s ability in speaking term of accuracy and fluency at first year students’ of Sikes Yarsi Mataram. This research was conducted through pre-experimental method. The population of this research consisted of one class of first year students’ of Sikes Yarsi Mataram which consisted of 31 students at Sikes Yarsi Mataram academic year 2020/2021. In collecting data, the researcher gave a speaking test, the speaking test help into two steps, there were pre-test and post-test, while to analyzed data , the researcher used (t)test. The findings of this research showed that the mean score in pre-test in term of pronunciation was (3,06) and post-test was (5,65). The mean score in pretest in term smoothness was ( 3,39) and post-test was (5,74). And the total result of pronunciation and smoothness or X1 was (3,22) and the post-test or X2 was (5,7). So, this is showed students got improvement in their speaking after being taught through mobile social networking, the students ability in speaking English became better than before

Abstract

The Community Service Program that has been carried out is an English tutoring program for elementary school students in Pringgarata Village, Pringgarata District, Central Lombok Regency. This tutoring program aims to help elementary school students master basic level English well. Based on the results of the situation analysis, the understanding and mastery of English at the elementary level of elementary school students in Pringgarata village is still low. This is not a strange thing because English is a foreign language so mastering it is not easy. Therefore, it is necessary to make efforts to grow and increase their awareness to learn outside class hours. This tutoring program also aims to foster student independence to study on their own at home. And with this effort, it is hoped that students will be able to improve their English skills and grades. This English learning guidance concerns the mastery of the four English skills, namely: listening (listening), reading (reading), speaking (speaking), and writing (writing). Besides, it is also taught about structure and vocabulary. The tutoring program that has been carried out has been successful. This can be seen from the enthusiasm of elementary school students to take part in this tutoring program. Their attendance reached 100%. And from the results of the learning evaluation, it appears that they have shown an increase in their English skills in all four skills, namely listening, reading, speaking and writing and two components of English, namely grammar and vocabulary.

Abstract

Textbook is one of the learning materials that can be used by teacher and students in order tohelp the teaching and learning process in the classroom. An analysis to a textbook is needed, moreoverafter the curriculum was launched. The object of the study is students English textbook entitled“ Think globally act locally” published by Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic ofIndonesia. This study was designed in descriptive qualitative research because the object of the studywas a document book. Moreover, as the data was in the form of words and documents, so the datawere analyzed qualitatively. The results of the study show that the suitability of the material in thetextbook is 78.12%, which can be concluded that the material from the textbook has met the standardof content eligibility in the textbook. Meanwhile, the feasibility of using the language in the textbook is75%, which can be concluded that the book uses language in accordance with BSNP assessmentstandards

Abstract

The aimed of this research was to analyze and describe about the morality in Nathaniel Hawthorne work entitled The Portrait of morality in Scarlet Letter Novel by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Specially ,this research deal with (1) What are the potrait of moralities by the main characters Hester Prynne ,Arthur Dimmsdale and Roger Chilingworth drawn in Scarlet Letter Novel (2) What are the sequences of these moralities for the main character as the doer of the moralities in Scarlet Letter Novel. This research was descriptive qualitative research. The data were words, phrases, sentences from the first chapter until the last chapter. Theories used used in this research were concerned with novel as a literary work, morals and ethics,morality,morality and religion,morality and law,immorality and the structural approach in literary criticism.This research was catagorized as literary criticms,where the researcher doing analysis, interpretation and evaluation in conducting the research.The writer applies the structural approach in hisresearchbecause to analyzes what moralities characters and what is the consequences of these moralities for the character’s life based on the instrinsic element of this novel.The result of this research were stated as follow: (1)The moralities found in the Scarlet Letter Novel were adultery,hypocrisy and revenge (2)The three main characters get different consequences of thier morality and face the risk of the morality in different ways.Finally the author can conclude that no one is perfect even the priest which supposed tobe the right hand of God.This novel reveal the morality in details and the important point is how this novel is relevant for generation to generation as a guidebook in morality aspect in society.And the writer advise that the next writer will write about literary critism in different point of view.

Abstract

Interactions gave various kinds of relationships, one of them was on traders relationship. Buyer and seller was relationship that has been effects in human life. Humans as social beings will always have relationships with each other in order to fulfill their life needs. This relationship will occur if it is based on communication. In this regard, communication plays an important role in human life. But the importance of communication will be felt if humans know what communication actually is and how the delivery process was carried out, so that it takes place effectively. In essence, communication is a process of expression between humans, what expressed, thoughts or feelings to others by using language as a channel. In buyer and seller interaction process, the ability to communicate (communicative competence) which was based on the speaker's cultural system, it can support the success of work in the informal sector. As a means of communication and self-expression, language can affect the thoughts and feelings of other humans, so that with language, a person is able to make other people take responsive actions according to the messages exchanged. Broadly speaking, communication is the process of conveying thoughts, feelings, or messages from one person (communicator) to another (communicant). With the medium of language, a communicator is able to influence the communicant and the message conveyed can be understood according to the meanings contained therein. Communication will be successful if the thoughts conveyed by the seller and the buyer can be understood precisely and equally by both parties. Thus, sellers and buyers are the determinants of communication practices and understanding of the messages communicated.
