Abstract

This study analyses Blitar's role as one of the Republic of Indonesia's guerrilla bases during the Dutch military aggression period and the struggle for independence. Located in East Java, Blitar has a long history, starting from the Dutch colonial period, the Japanese occupation, to the post-proclamation of Indonesian independence. Blitar became an important centre for military and emergency government activities in East Java, especially after the Dutch launched Military Aggression I and II. This research illustrates how Blitar became a gathering place for long march troops from various regions, as well as the formation of a military government structure that played an important role in defending the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia. Using data from various sources, including official reports and historical studies, this research seeks to present a picture of the socio-political and military dynamics in Blitar during this critical time in Indonesian history. However, despite its significant role, local history studies related to Blitar's role in this struggle are still minimally explored in history learning in schools. Therefore, the integration of Blitar's local history in the curriculum is expected to strengthen students' understanding of the importance of their region's contribution to national history.

Abstract

History learning in the digital era faces challenges in attracting interest and building students' critical understanding of past events. One innovative approach that can be used is the use of documentary films as a learning medium. Documentaries are not only informative, but also present a narrative that is reflective of historical constructions. This study aims to analyze the use of documentary films in history learning and develop critical analysis strategies through the Learning History through the Exploration of Narratives on Screen (LENS) model. This study uses the Dick and Carey instructional design method which consists of ten systematic steps, namely: identification of learning objectives, analysis of learning and student characteristics, formulation of special learning objectives, development of evaluation instruments, development of learning strategies, development and selection of materials, development of learning media, implementation of learning, and formative and summative evaluation. Historical documentaries are used as the primary source in analytical activities to train students' interpretive, analytical, and reflective abilities against visually presented historical narratives. The results of the study show that the integration of documentary film into history learning through the LENS strategy is able to improve students' active participation, critical thinking skills, and historical awareness. This strategy also encourages students to question dominant narratives, evaluate different perspectives, and develop media and historical literacy in an integrated manner. Thus, this approach can be an effective alternative in creating more contextual, interactive, and meaningful history learning.

Abstract

Several historical studies that exist today have reviewed how the fishing industry developed during the colonial period. However, generally existing studies focus more on aspects of marine and port fisheries. The inland or freshwater fisheries aspect is not highlighted much. One of the results of the development of inland fisheries knowledge and technology is the innovation of mudjair fish. This paper tries to dig deeper into the innovators of mudjair fish both in terms of background knowledge and domestication methods. The method used in this paper is the historical method. Based on the results of the study, Mudjair's knowledge as an innovator is based on informal knowledge. The series of fish domestication processes he used were scientific organic knowledge. This is evidence of intellectual progress and innovation in the field of fisheries.
