The aim of P2M is to provide an understanding of the development and dynamics of the Indonesian language as well as the development of Indonesian culture. The methods used in this PPM are online seminars and direct face-to-face learning with Kanda University students. The results obtained from P2M are that in learning Indonesian, Kanda University students seem enthusiastic about learning Indonesian, but still seem to have difficulty understanding Indonesian language material in a song. This can be seen from the fact that there are still many who have not been able to fill in or answer the gap questions given. Meanwhile, when the traditional musical instrument angklung was introduced, the students were very enthusiastic about playing it and managed to play several songs with the angklung. During the first song, they couldn't realize the sound of the angklung he was playing because the song was in regional Indonesian. However, when playing Japanese songs, they began to realize that angklung could be played for Japanese songs.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of digital learning media and cognitive styles on kanji learning outcomes, focusing on the use of the tanoshiijapanese.com website as a learning platform. The research aims to determine how this website supports students with different cognitive styles—Field Dependent (FD) and Field Independent (FI)—in learning kanji. As online and blended learning continue to evolve, the integration of interactive web-based tools has become essential in language instruction, particularly for complex writing systems such as Japanese kanji. This study employed a one-group pretest–posttest experimental design involving students enrolled in a Kanji I course. Participants completed a pretest, underwent learning sessions using tanoshiijapanese.com, and then completed a posttest. Results indicated that both FD and FI learners experienced significant improvement after the intervention, confirming the positive impact of the digital platform on kanji acquisition. Furthermore, FD learners achieved slightly higher gains than FI learners, suggesting that the website’s guided and visually structured format aligns more closely with the cognitive tendencies of FD learners. These findings underscore the potential of web-based tools to enhance kanji instruction while addressing individual learning preferences.

Abstract

The Japanese Language Education Study Program at State University of Jakarta has designated Japanese language teachers as its graduate profile. However, observations of pre-service teaching practices and evaluation of learning outcomes show that students’ teaching skills are still need to be improved. There are some causal factors, one of which is the teaching materials used. Starting from the 2019/2020 academic year, Nihongo Kyoujuhou course use " Peran Guru dan Metode Pengajaran Bahasa Jepang " as teaching material. This research analyzes the textbook with the aim of providing information to study programs and teachers about the effectiveness of the book. The evaluation results show that the textbook " Peran Guru dan Metode Pengajaran Bahasa Jepang " is categorized as very good in terms of language appropriateness and content appropriateness. Meanwhile, the feasibility aspect of presentation is categorized as good. Based on that results, it can be said that this book is suitable to be used as a handbook in the Nihongo Kyoujuhou course. However, the results also show the need for additional books/references to adequately equip students for pre-service teaching practice.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the correlation between the mastery of Bunpou III and the ability of Dokkai I in the 3rd semester students of the Japanese Language Education Study Program, State University of Jakarta. This research is based on the results of a student questionnaire which states that the Dokkai test item on N3 is the most difficult part to do because of the complex sentence patterns. 20 students participating in the Dokkai I course were sampled, because Dokkai I was a beginner step in preparing students to enter reading material at the N3 level. This study uses the correlational method with the final exam test as the instrument that has been validity tested by an Expert Judgment, as well as a questionnaire to determine response of the most influenced components of Dokkai I ability. The data collection technique uses the UAS value documentation. The conclusion of this study is that the correlation value of the Bunpou III mastery with the Dokkai I ability is -0.091 and included in the category of a weak correlation level. This is because the characteristics of reading according to experts are not only based on the ability to master grammar. The results of student responses indicate that the the most influenced components of Dokkai I ability are kanji by 45% and vocabulary by 45%.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of using Mango (Manga Nihongo) on Japanese grammar learning outcomes. The background of this research is the difficulties faced by students in understanding sentence structure and verb changes in Japanese, as well as student boredom with learning media that are less varied during distance learning. This study used a preexperimental one group pretest and posttest method with 32 students of class XII-Language at SMA Negeri 110 Jakarta as samples. The instruments used were tests and questionnaires. Based on the results of data processing using the paired sample t-test formula, it was found that the Sig. (2-tailed) value was 0.000 with t_count of 12.30 at a significance level of 5% with t_table of 2.04. This shows that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. The Normalized gain calculation results show a value of 0.66 which is in the medium category with a percentage of 66.14% which shows that Mango (Manga Nihongo) media is quite effective for improving Japanese grammar learning outcomes. This media provides a new learning experience using digital comics that can be accessed anytime and anywhere, so it can motivate students and improve learning outcomes.
