Abstract

Abstract This Community Service Activity (P2M) aims to provide basic Japanese language training to foreign workers in Japan. This activity was carried out as a form of contribution from Jakarta State University to international problems, especially in Japan as one of the countries on the Asian continent. As is known, Japan is currently one of the countries that employs many foreign workers. This is because demographically, Japan is a country with the highest hyperage in the world. Data shows that 21% of Japan's population are elderly people aged 65 years and over, and it is predicted that by 2050 the number of elderly people will reach 40%. This is a strong reason why Japan needs productive age workers from other countries. Apart from the benefits obtained by Japan, there are several problems that arise along with the increasing number of foreigner living and working in Japan. One of them is the problem of communication. The existence of a language wall or 'kotoba no kabe' between companies as users and foreign nationals as workers which of course greatly affects the company's performance. The targets of P2M are workers of Thai, Vietnamese, and Indonesian nationality. From the results of the preliminary survey, it is known that the Japanese language training needed is Japanese Language Proficiency Test level N3 and N4 training. The method used is training via the Zoom platform which is carried out once a week on Saturdays and Mondays for 2 months. At the end of the session, a JLPT simulation test was given in collaboration with the UNJ Language UPT, and it was found that 60% of participants passed the JLPT N4 and 20% of participants passed the JLPT N3. From the results of the post-preliminary survey, it was found that participants were satisfied and agreed if similar activities were held again in the coming year. In addition, it was found that 72.7% of participants had problems with the training time. This is because workers still work on Saturdays and Sundays, so solutions need to be considered in the implementation time in the future. Keywords: foreigners; kotoba no kabe; Japanese language training Abstrak Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (P2M) ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan bahasa Jepang tingkat dasar kepada para pekerja asing di Jepang. Kegiatan ini dilakukan sebagai bentuk kontribusi Universitas Negeri Jakarta terhadap permasalahan di tingkat internasional, khususnya di Jepang sebagai salah satu negara di benua Asia. Seperti diketahui, saat ini Jepang merupakan salah satu negara yang banyak mempekerjakan tenaga kerja asing di negaranya. Hal ini dikarenakan secara demografis Jepang merupakan negara dengan hyperage tertinggi di dunia. Data menunjukkan bahwa 21% penduduk Jepang adalah lansia yang berusia 65 tahun ke atas, dan diprediksi pada tahun 2050 jumlah lansia akan mencapai 40%. Hal ini menjadi alasan kuat mengapa Jepang membutuhkan tenaga kerja usia produktif dari negara lain. Terlepas dari keuntungan yang diperoleh Jepang, ada beberapa kendala yang muncul seiring bertambahnya jumlah warga negara asing yang tinggal dan bekerja di Jepang. Salah satunya adalah masalah komunikasi. Adanya tembok bahasa atau 'kotoba no kabe' antara perusahaan sebagai pengguna dengan warga negara asing sebagai pekerja yang tentunya sangat mempengaruhi kinerja perusahaan. Sasarannya P2M adalah para pekerja berkewarganegaraan Thailand, Vietnam, dan Indonesia. Dari hasil survey pendahuluan diketahui bahwa pelatihan bahasa Jepang yang dibutuhkan adalah pelatihan Japanese Language Proficiency Test level N3 dan N4. Metode yang digunakan adalah pelatihan melalui platform Zoom yang dilakukan seminggu sekali pada hari Sabtu selama 2 bulan. Di akhir sesi diberikan tes simulasi JLPT bekerja sama dengan UPT Bahasa UNJ, dan diketahui 60% peserta dinyatakan lulus JLPT N4 dan 20% peserta dinyatakan lulus JLPT N3. Dari hasil survey pasca pendahuluan diketahui bahwa peserta puas dan setuju jika kegiatan serupa diadakan kembali pada tahun mendatang. Selain itu diketahui bahwa 72,7% peserta memiliki permasalahan waktu pelaksanaan. Hal ini dikarenakan para pekerja tetap bekerja pada hari Sabtu maupun Minggu, sehingga perlu dipikirkan solusi dalam waktu pelaksanaan di masa mendatang. Abstract

Abstract This Community Service (P2M) has the title: Teaching Indonesian Language and Culture for Kanda University Japan Students. The implementation of this service activity is a collaboration between the teaching staff of the Japanese Language, Indonesian Language and Music Education Study Program, Faculty of Languages ​​and Arts, Jakarta State University who collaborate with teaching staff at Kanda University International Studies (KUIS), especially those who teach in the expertise program Indonesian. The aim of P2M is to provide an understanding of the development and dynamics of the Indonesian language as well as the development of Indonesian culture. The methods used in this PPM are online seminars and direct face-to-face learning with Kanda University students. The results obtained from P2M are that in learning Indonesian, Kanda University students seem enthusiastic about learning Indonesian, but still seem to have difficulty understanding Indonesian language material in a song. This can be seen from the fact that there are still many who have not been able to fill in or answer the gap questions given. Meanwhile, when the traditional musical instrument angklung was introduced, the students were very enthusiastic about playing it and managed to play several songs with the angklung. During the first song, they couldn't realize the sound of the angklung he was playing because the song was in regional Indonesian. However, when playing Japanese songs, they began to realize that angklung could be played for Japanese songs. Abstrak Pengabadian pada Masyarakat (P2M) ini mengangkat judul: Pengajaran Bahasa dan Budaya Indonesia untuk Mahasiswa Kanda University Japan. Pelaksana kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah kolaborasi antara staf pengajar Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang, Bahasa Indonesia dan Seni Musik, Fakultas Bahasa dan Seni, Universitas Negeri Jakarta yang bekerja sama dengan staf pengajar di Kanda University International Studies (KUIS), khususnya yang mengajar pada program keahlian bahasa Indonesia. Adapun tujuan dari P2M ini adalah untuk memberikan pemahaman tentang perkembangan dan dinamika bahasa Indonesia serta perkembangan budaya Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan dalam P2M ini adalah seminar online dan pembelajaran tatap muka langsung dengan mahasiswa Kanda University. Hasil yang didapat dari P2M ini adalah dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia, para mahasiswa Kanda University terlihat antusian mengikuti pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia, namun masih terlihat kesulitan memahami materi Bahasa Indonesia dalam sebuah lagu. Hal ini terlihat dari masih banyak yang belum bisa mengisi atau menjawab soal rumpang yang diberikan. Sementara itu, saat diperkenalkan alat musik tradisional angklung, para mahasiswa pun sangat antusias memperagakannya dan berhasil memainkan beberapa lagu dengan angklung. Pada saat lagu pertama, mereka belum bisa menyadari bunyi angklung yang dimainkannya karena lagu berbahasa daerah di Indonesia. Akan tetapi, pada saat memainkan lagu Jepang, mereka mulai menyadari bahwa angklung dapat dimainkan untuk lagu Jepang.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the types of social deixis, social factors, and social dimensions that cause the use of social deixis in the Japanese language. The background for this research is the awareness of the importance of referents or references in conversation based on social roles and societal differences to realize the right choice of words to maintain harmony and respect between the speech participants. The theories used in this study are the SPEAKING theory by Dell Hymes (1974) to analyze the context, the theory of Levinson (1983) as a reference regarding the types of social deixis, and the theory of Holmes (2001) as a reference to analyze social factors and social dimensions. Based on the analysis of 29 data, it is known that there are 9 data that contain more than one type of social deixis in one data. This happens due to several factors, such as context, speech participants, and the situation in the conversation being analyzed. Also, it can be concluded that the components of the social dimension become supporting and strengthening components of social factors that cause the usage of social deixis in speech.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the politeness of the language used by the presenters in the Shabekuri 007 based on the theory proposed by Brown and Levinson (1987), Ide (1982), and Mizutani-Mizutani (1987). In speech, there is possibility of a face threatening act by each party that can interfere the communication process, so that there are rules that limit the actions of speakers and partners as well as strategies taken to establish good communication. The data collected with a free-to-talk method and analyzed by pragmatics equivalent method. The research results are described descriptively. The results of this study are that from 106 utterances, it was found that there were six markers of politeness in Mizutani-Mizutani’s (1987), namely intonations, particles at the end of sentences, sentences that seem doubtful, aizuchi, politely Japanese usage, and conveying the intention of the desire indirectly. Based on Ide’s rules of politeness (1982) there are 71 utterances that ignore these rules and 35 utterances that fulfill these rules. The rules consist of being polite to people with higher position, greater power, and to older people. Brown and Levinson's (1987) politeness strategies used consist of negative politeness strategies, on-record strategies, positive politeness strategies, and off-record strategies.

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian pada Masyarakat (P2M) ini dilakukan untuk membangun kesadaran masyarakat terhadap diri sendiri dan lingkungannya sehingga tujuan dari Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) terutama poin 1, 2, 3, 4, 8 bisa dicapai dalam skala yang lebih luas dengan mengenalkan konsep dan filosofi hidup Jepang yakni Ikigai dipandang sebagai kerangka reflektif yang mengintegrasikan passion, mission, vocation, dan profession sehingga mampu membantu individu menemukan makna hidup yang mendalam. Bekerja sama dengan TP PKK Kecamatan Pulo Gadung dimana permasalahan utama yang dihadapi masyarakat Pulo Gadung adalah tekanan psikososial, ketidakpastian ekonomi, dan minimnya ruang interaksi sosial lintas generasi. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi pre-test, seminar, diskusi interaktif, tanya-jawab, serta post-test (sebagai evaluasi). Hasil yang dicapai adalah terjadinya peningkatan signifikan pada pemahaman peserta terhadap konsep Ikigai, peningkatan dalam kesadaran diri, penataan ulang prioritas hidup, serta semakin tumbuhnya rasa percaya diri dan lebih termotivasi. Temuan ini membuktikan bahwa Ikigai dapat diadaptasi menjadi strategi pemberdayaan masyarakat yang tidak hanya berdampak pada peningkatan kesehatan psikologis, tetapi juga mendorong partisipasi sosial dan potensi kesejahteraan ekonomi warga. Dengan demikian, kegiatan ini berkontribusi dalam penguatan kapasitas masyarakat menuju kehidupan yang lebih bermakna, berdaya, dan berkelanjutan.Abstract This Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (P2M) program aimed to enhance public awareness of self and environment in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly points 1, 2, 3, 4, and 8. The program introduced the Japanese philosophy of Ikigai as a reflective framework integrating passion, mission, vocation, and profession to help individuals discover deeper meaning in life. Implemented in collaboration with Tim Penggerak PKK (TP PKK) Kecamatan Pulo Gadung, East Jakarta, Indonesia, the activity addressed key community issues such as psychosocial stress, economic uncertainty, and limited intergenerational social interaction. Methods included a pre-test, seminar, interactive discussion, Q&A session, and post-test evaluation. Results indicated a significant increase in participants’ understanding of Ikigai, heightened self-awareness, reorganization of life priorities, and improved confidence and motivation. These findings suggest that Ikigai can be effectively adapted as a community empowerment strategy, contributing not only to psychological well-being but also to social participation and economic potential. Overall, this program strengthens community capacity toward a more meaningful, empowered, and sustainable life.
