Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of describing the implementation of the vocational skills program, the level of creativity of participants, and analyzing the effect of the vocational skills program on culinary creativity at the Istana Surga Creative House, Percut Sei Tuan District, Medan. The study population consisted of 100 local residents, while the sample size was 30 people (29 women and 1 man) selected using a purposive sampling technique based on the criteria of culinary vocational skills training participants aged 35-55 years. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed through instrument testing (validity and reliability), classical assumption tests (normality and linearity tests), simple linear regression and t-tests. The research results show that a vocational skills program that includes training in basic culinary skills (such as understanding and following kitchen hygiene and sanitation standards, using simple kitchen utensils (stoves, knives, and blenders), reading and following simple recipes, applying kitchen safety principles, and developing discipline, precision, and timeliness when cooking) and specialized culinary skills (such as advanced cooking techniques such as baking, steaming, and sautéing; preparing and serving dishes, plating, and garnishing; creating recipes and menu innovations; flavor innovations; packaging and presentation; managing a culinary business; managing inventory; managing capital; and marketing strategies for food products both offline and online) has been proven effective in enhancing participants' culinary creativity. The calculated t-value of 16.305 > t-table 0.367 with a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05, and a beta value of 0.951, indicate a positive and significant effect between the vocational skills program and participants' culinary creativity at the Istana Surga Creative House.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran orang tua dalam membentuk karakter disiplin pada anak-anak usia 6-12 tahun di Desa Partungko Naginjang. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, dengan subjek penelitian terdiri dari tiga orang tua yang memiliki anak dalam rentang usia tersebut. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dan observasi. Proses analisis data mencakup reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Untuk memastikan keakuratan data, digunakan triangulasi sumber dan teknik. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa orang tua memiliki peranan penting dalam pembentukan karakter disiplin anak, termasuk disiplin beribadah, manajemen waktu, penegakan aturan, dan belajar. Temuan ini didasarkan pada analisis data dari tiga informan, yang menunjukkan bahwa orang tua perlu menerapkan disiplin secara konsisten, memberikan teladan yang baik, serta memberikan dukungan emosional dan pengawasan yang memadai. Namun, satu dari tiga orang tua belum sepenuhnya berhasil dalam menanamkan praktik disiplin pada anak-anak mereka, terutama terkait disiplin waktu, seperti anak-anak yang tidak makan atau bangun tepat waktu, terlambat ke sekolah, dan tidak mematuhi aturan rumah tangga. Selain itu, terdapat faktor pendukung dan penghambat dalam mengembangkan karakter disiplin di Desa Partungko Naginjang, yang diidentifikasi melalui hasil wawancara dan observasi, terdiri dari faktor pendukung seperti: a) membujuk anak dengan hadiah atau hukuman, b) orang tua berperan dalam mengawasi dan membimbing anak, serta c) keteladanan dan perhatian yang penuh kasih sayang. Sementara itu, faktor penghambat meliputi: a) lingkungan dan perbedaan karakter anak, serta b) pengaruh pergaulan dengan teman sebaya.

Abstract

Women in Darussalam Village play a crucial role in achieving food security by processing their harvests in simple ways. With their skills and creativity, they are able to create products with economic value and based on local wisdom. Through a strong spirit of mutual cooperation, local potential is collectively preserved, and the results are used for the common good. Based on field studies, women require innovation through knowledge and skills to cultivate local potential. Therefore, a learning needs analysis is necessary to identify the learning needs of productive-age women based on local wisdom. This study used a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The results indicate that women in Darussalam Village have traditionally cultivated local potential and require learning related to hobbies and recreation, namely developing skills in making handicrafts for sustainable agricultural and fishery products, increasing productivity, and mentoring in product development for small businesses.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effects of resilience, psychological well-being, and self-efficacy on students’ accounting understanding. A quantitative explanatory research method was employed. Data were collected from 118 undergraduate students enrolled in the Accounting Education Program, Faculty of Economics, Medan State University. The participants were selected using purposive sampling and had completed core accounting courses. Data were gathered through a structured questionnaire measured on a five-point Likert scale. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS software. The results demonstrate that resilience, psychological well-being, and self-efficacy have positive and statistically significant effects on accounting understanding. Among these variables, self-efficacy exhibits the strongest influence on accounting understanding (β = 0.41; p < .001), followed by resilience and psychological well-being. The structural model explains 65% of the variance in accounting understanding (R² = 0.65), indicating strong explanatory power. These findings suggest that students’ accounting understanding is influenced not only by cognitive learning processes but also by psychological resources that support academic engagement and persistence.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk melihat pengaruh edukasi masyarakat dalam pengolahan limbah kertas menjadi kerajinan tangan tehadap pengurangan limbah kertas di Kelurahan Mabar Hilir. Populasi penelitian ini terdiri dari masyarakat Kelurahan Mabar Hilir yang berusia 18-58 tahun yang berjumlah 2.741 orang. Sampel penelitian berjumlah sebanyak 30 orang yang diambil dengan menggunakan purposive sampling berdasarkan kriteria yaitu berusia 18-58 tahun, berpartisipasi aktif, dan berasal dari kalangan ekonomi menengah ke bawah. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan angket hasil edukasi masyarakat, seterusnya data dianalisis dengan menggunakan regresi linear sederhana. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa edukasi masyarakat dalam pengolahan limbah kertas menjadi kerajinan tangan berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap pengurangan limbah kertas di Kelurahan Mabar Hilir. Dengan nilai ttabel pada penelitian ini adalah 1,701 dengan taraf signifikansi 0,05. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa thitung > ttabel yaitu sebesar 4,185 > 1,701 dan nilai signifikansi < 0,05 yaitu sebesar 0,00 < 0,05. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan Ha diterima dan Ho ditolak. Hal tersebut menunjukan terdapat pengaruh signifikan antara variabel edukasi masyarakat dalam pengolahan limbah kertas menjadi kerajinan tangan terhadap pengurangan limbah kertas.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the meaning of students’ lived experiences in the process of character formation through non-formal education at Ma’had Tahfidz Al-Ansor Medan. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, this research explores how students experience daily interactions with teachers, peers, and the pesantren environment an atmosphere rich in religious and disciplinary values. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation of teaching and character-building activities. The findings reveal that character formation at Ma’had Tahfidz Al-Ansor occurs through three main dimensions: exemplary modeling (uswah), habituation (ta‘wid), and the internalization of spiritual values in daily routines such as Qur’an memorization, congregational prayers, and community service activities. These dimensions collectively shape a character pattern grounded in sincerity, responsibility, and independence. From a phenomenological perspective, students perceive the pesantren’s non-formal education not merely as religious instruction but as a spiritual journey toward developing noble character (akhlaq al-karimah). The study concludes that non-formal education in pesantren plays a significant role in fostering students’ character through meaningful existential experiences.

Abstract

Academic procrastination is a problem that many students experience and has an impact on declining learning quality, increased stress, and low academic achievement. One of the internal factors that is strongly suspected to influence this behavior is self-efficacy anxiety, which is a condition when students doubt their ability to complete assignments, thus encouraging procrastination behavior. This study aims to analyze the effect of self-efficacy anxiety on academic procrastination behavior in students. The research method uses a quantitative approach with a survey design of 34 students selected through purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected using two Likert scales, namely the Anxiety Scale for Self-Disability and the Academic Procrastination Scale, and then analyzed through normality, correlation, and regression tests. The results showed that the data were normally distributed and there was a strong relationship between the two variables (R = 0.746). In addition, a significance value of 0.000 and a calculated t value greater than the t table showed that self-efficacy anxiety had a significant effect on academic procrastination behavior. This means that the higher the student's anxiety about their abilities, the higher their tendency to postpone academic assignments. This study concludes that anxiety about self-incompetence is an important psychological factor that needs to be considered in efforts to develop intervention programs to reduce academic procrastination in students.

Abstract

The rapid growth of digital media, particularly short-video platforms such as TikTok, has significantly influenced early childhood music consumption patterns and has the potential to shape children’s musical interests and preferences. This study aims to examine the effect of exposure to digital short songs on TikTok on early childhood interest in traditional children’s songs. A quantitative approach with an explanatory research design was employed. The study involved 25 children aged 4-6 years who were enrolled in Early Childhood Education (PAUD) institutions and selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using structured questionnaires completed by parents and teachers, measuring the level of exposure to digital short songs and children’s interest in traditional children’s songs. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression analysis. The findings reveal that exposure to digital short songs via TikTok has a statistically significant effect on early childhood interest in traditional children’s songs, as indicated by a significance value of 0.046 (p < 0.05). These results suggest that digital media functions as an informal learning environment that can influence children’s musical preferences. However, the impact of digital media exposure largely depends on the quality of content and the presence of appropriate guidance from adults. Therefore, the purposeful and educational use of TikTok may serve as an adaptive strategy to revitalize traditional children’s songs, ensuring their relevance for young learners in the digital era while preserving local cultural values.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has encouraged students to utilize time management applications as a strategy to organize their learning activities more effectively. This study aims to examine the influence of digital time management application usage on students’ learning motivation. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional survey design was employed, involving 65 students selected through a non-probability sampling technique. The research instrument consisted of a Likert-scale questionnaire that had passed validity and reliability testing. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and linear regression. The results reveal that the use of digital time management applications has a significant and strong effect on students’ learning motivation. These findings demonstrate that digital applications assist students in establishing structured learning routines, enhancing focus, and strengthening self-regulation toward their academic goals. In conclusion, digital time management applications can serve as an effective strategy to improve students’ learning motivation in the digital era.

Abstract

Comfort in the learning process plays an important role in supporting optimal learning outcomes among university students. However, certain aspects of the learning environment that may influence this comfort are often overlooked, including the presence of body odor. Unpleasant body odor can disrupt students’ concentration, reduce psychological comfort, and negatively affect social interactions during academic activities. This study aims to examine the relationship between body odor and students’ learning comfort in higher education settings. A quantitative approach with a survey method was employed, using questionnaires as the primary instrument for data collection. The research involved 36 students selected through purposive sampling based on criteria relevant to the study objectives. The collected data were analyzed using correlation analysis to determine the strength and direction of the relationship between body odor and learning comfort. The results indicate a significant relationship between body odor and students’ learning comfort, particularly affecting concentration, academic focus, and the overall classroom atmosphere. These findings highlight that personal hygiene, especially body odor management, is an important factor in creating a healthy, comfortable, and supportive learning environment in higher education institutions.
