Abstract

Syahrur's offer toward the sceptical-literalist and modernist-secularist attitudes of the Islamic community is, returning to Inzal (al-Qur'an), God's revelation that delivered to the Prophet. This qualitative study, to analyze the epistemology of Syahrur's ijtihad. The results show Syahrur's thinking about epistemology originates from material nature that is beyond human existence. Syahrur in interpreting the ahkam verses still agreed to maintain the purity of the teachings of the Qur'an, which shalah likulli zaman wa makan. According to Syahrur, the truth was based on three pillars, i.e: revelation, reason, and reality. The combination of the 122 Critical Discourse The Epistemology of ......121- 140. Syahrur's offer, on the theory of scientific historicity, linguistic hermeneutics and Marxist dialectics, shows an attempt to deconstruct science that has been patented in the application of Islamic law. The difference from the concept of classical ijtihad ushul fiqh with the concept of ijtihad Syahrur, i.e: 1) places ijtihad in a vital position for modern Islamic law; 2) ijtihad only at the stage of justifying or forbidding something; 3) requires scientific achievements and modern knowledge systems; 4) allows to ijtihad all legal texts, even though the ulama see as qath'i; and 5) can be done individually

Abstract

This community service program aims to improve understanding of Muslim-friendly tourism village management in Indonesia through socialization and education. Muslim-friendly tourism villages have great potential in the halal tourism industry but still face challenges, such as limited understanding of halal standards, lack of supporting facilities, and lack of digital-based marketing strategies. To overcome these problems, this program adopts socialization, education, and mentoring methods involving local stakeholders. Socialization is conducted through interactive discussions and seminars, while education includes technical training for tourism actors related to halal service management and digital marketing. The program evaluation showed a significant increase in community understanding of halal tourism, readiness for Muslim-friendly accommodation, and the number of businesses applying for halal certification. The program contributes to strengthening the capacity of tourism village managers to provide Sharia-based services and increase attractiveness for Muslim tourists. Continuous assistance is needed to ensure the sustainability of the implementation of the halal tourism concept in various tourism villages in Indonesia.

Abstract

The lack of harmonization in halal tourism regulations in Indonesia, Pakistan, and Nigeria has led to differences in standards, weak legal certainty, and inconsistent services that hinder the development of halal destinations. This study aims to analyse and compare the regulatory frameworks of halal tourism in Indonesia, Pakistan, and Nigeria, highlighting the differences in legal systems, institutional capacity, and their implications for the consistency of services and the development of the halal tourism industry. This research employs a qualitative method with a literature study approach, examining laws, government policies, institutional documents, and academic literature related to halal regulations. Data were analysed using content analysis techniques and comparative analysis to identify patterns of similarities, differences, and regulatory effectiveness across the three countries. The results of the study indicate that Indonesia has a more standardised halal regulatory framework, established through formal institutions such as BPJPH and MUI. In contrast, Pakistan adopts a market-driven approach due to the absence of formal regulations governing the halal tourism sector. Nigeria has fragmented rules due to its federal structure and dual legal system, resulting in varying standards of halal service across regions. The findings of this literature show that the legal system and the governance capacity of each country greatly influence the effectiveness of regulations. This research provides an understanding of the relationship between legal configuration and the efficacy of halal governance, offering a basis for regulatory harmonisation that strengthens the competitiveness of halal destinations. This study makes a new contribution by presenting a comprehensive comparative legal analysis of halal tourism regulations in three countries with distinct legal system characteristics, which have not been extensively discussed in previous studies.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of Islamic Studies with smart agriculture as an interdisciplinary approach to addressing contemporary challenges, including food insecurity, environmental degradation, and the ethical use of technology. The objective of this research is to investigate how Islamic ethical principles can inform the development, implementation, and governance of innovative agriculture technologies, ensuring sustainability and social responsibility. The method employed is a systematic literature review of scholarly publications from 2020 to 2025, drawing from agricultural science, information technology, and Islamic ethics. Core Islamic sources—including the Qur’an, Hadith, and Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh)—are analysed to identify key ethical concepts such as stewardship (khilafah), justice (‘adl), moderation (wasatiyyah), and the protection of life and resources (maqasid al-Shariah). These principles are then synthesised with current innovative agriculture practices, including the use of Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and data-driven decision-making. The results and conclusion indicate that Islamic ethical values strongly support sustainable agricultural practices, responsible data management, and equitable access to technology. However, the study also highlights ethical concerns related to automation, data ownership, and socio-economic justice. Integrating Islamic values into smart agriculture not only enhances technical efficiency but also promotes moral accountability and long-term social sustainability.

Abstract

This research examines the application of artificial intelligence (AI) as an innovative approach in Religious Education (RE), with a comparative focus on Christian and Islamic educational contexts. It aims to explore the potential benefits, challenges, and ethical implications of integrating AI into faith-based learning. The study employs a qualitative literature review by analyzing recent research findings and empirical studies related to AI use in religious education. Data were drawn from scholarly articles, case studies, and educational reports addressing AI tools such as chatbots, adaptive learning systems, virtual assistants, and curriculum analytics in both Christian and Islamic settings. The findings indicate that AI can enhance religious learning by supporting personalized instruction, increasing access to educational resources, and promoting interactive learning experiences. In Islamic Religious Education, AI applications have been effective in improving accessibility and contextual understanding while emphasizing the need to align technology with religious values. Similarly, AI innovations in Christian education—such as adaptive scripture delivery and digital text analysis—have shown promise in engaging digital-age learners. However, ethical and theological concerns remain, including risks of technological dependence, data security issues, and potential weakening of spiritual relationships. This study concludes that responsible, value-oriented AI integration is essential to preserve doctrinal integrity while improving educational outcomes.

Abstract

Halal tourism is one of the current trends in sharia business trends (State of the Global Islamic Economy 2017-2018). This proves that the term halal which was formerly just something that is permissible in Islam, has now become a necessity and lifestyle for Muslim communities in the country even on the international scene. Because these tours use halal branding that cannot be separated from Islamic sharia, this study aims to explain the concept of halal tourism in the Qur’anic perspective. This research is a qualitative research through research literature sourced from interpretation books both offline and online, journals relating to halal tourism propositions and other primary text sources. This study uses a descriptive analytical approach. The results of the literature review analysis show that the application of halal concepts in tourism is proof of the flexibility of Islamic sharia at a practical level. The argument regarding the command to consume halal products has been written in the Holy Qur’an, Surat al-Baqarah, verses 162 and 172, and looking for something lawful for every Muslim in daily life is to have a law that must be carried out, this is based on the Prophet’s words: “looking for the lawful is obligatory for every Muslim” (HR Thabrani). The tourism in the Qur’anic perspective is contained in the following verses: Q.S. Al- Mulk verse 15, Q.S. Al-’Ankabut verse 20, Q.S. Ali ‘Imron verses 137 and 191, Q.S. Al-’An’am verse 11, Q.S. An-Naml verse 69, QS. Al-Mu’min verses 21 and 64, Q.S. An-Nahl verse 36, Q.S. Ar-Rum verse 42. The sentence ض سي ُروا فِي ا ْ َﻷ ْر in the Qur’an other than as a proposition for travel, the sentence instructs people to explore and explore all of Allah’s creation, because Allah also likes aesthetics or beauty. The application of the concept of halal on tourism is always accompanied by the implementation of the concept of thayyib and does not cause damage, because the combination of the concepts of halal and thayyib in travel will result in tourism full of blessings.
