Abstract

The people of Papua currently tend to consume rice continuously every year compared to local food. The purpose of this study was to determine the adaptive and high yielding upland rice varieties in three agroecosystem zones of Jayawijaya Regency. Testing of five varieties has been carried out in three agroecosystem zones in Jayawijaya Regency, namely zone 1 with an altitude of 1882 m above sea level (Walelagama District), zone 2 with an altitude of 2145 m above sea level (Kurulu District), and zone 3 with an altitude of 2653 m above sea level (Sogokmo District). The results showed adaptive Wamena Local (Moai) varieties growing in the three agroecosystem areas, which were seen in the parameters of plant height and number of leaves, followed by INPAGO INPARI 28 varieties. Meanwhile, in the production parameters achieved, INPAGO INPARI 28 varieties produced the highest panicles and grains in Walelagama District at 124.33 panicles and 10.62 t grains ha-1. Whereas in the Kurulu District (Zones 1 and 2) were 124.33 panicles and 3.53 t grains ha-1. The Sogokmo District was shown by INPAGO 9 variety (86.00 panicles and 2.97 t grains ha-1).

Abstract

"Plastic Flower" (Xerochrysum bracteatum) belongs to the Chrysanthemum family. This flower is obtained from the wilderness so it takes effort to develop it. One way to develop it is to apply the provision of organic nutrients sourced from coffee grounds waste. Coffee grounds waste is beneficial for plants to increase their intake of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. The aims of the research: 1) to find out the effectiveness of coffee grounds on "Plastic Flower" cuttings; 2) the best type of coffee grounds for growth and cuttings "Plastic Flowers". The research design was a randomized block design consisting of K0 = without coffee grounds (control); K1 = Local coffee grounds, K2 = Kapal Api coffee grounds, K3 = Garuda coffee grounds, K4 = Uang Mas coffee grounds, K5 = Mocca ABC coffee grounds, repeated 5 times. Conclusion: 1) Coffee grounds have a significant effect on the number of shoots aged 4 MST and 6 MST; number of leaves aged 6 MST and 8 MST; live cuttings; rooted cuttings; root length; root fresh weight; The root dry weight of "Bunga Plastik" cuttings and the best type of coffee grounds for the growth and development of cuttings is local Wamena coffee grounds (K4).

Abstract

Many farmer groups in the community still need legal institutions, especially in the Central Highlands Region of Papua. Thus, this empowerment activity is carried out to optimize the resources of the members of the farmer groups that have been formed and explain the importance of the existence of a farmer group in the development of farming and livestock owned. The community service initiative employs the Community Based Research (CBR) methodology, specifically using the Forum Group Discussion (FGD) technique for training and mentoring. The results of the implementation of this activity were that the Bisimo Etaikena farmer group was required to have an administrative system starting from farming planning, documentation, or recording of group farming processes and results (both agricultural and livestock cultivation), and the ability to process agricultural products that had to be carried out, to help improve welfare—farmers in a structured manner and not only in obtaining government assistance.

Abstract

Rainwater harvesting is one municipal initiative that uses rainwater for everyday needs. Rainwater is very useful in meeting water sources for agriculture, homes and industries, but unmanaged rainwater can also cause disasters such as flooding and flooding. The rainwater that falls on the earth is clean water for living things. However, during the rainy season, when the catchment area decreases, rainwater cannot penetrate into the ground and often causes flooding. For this reason, this service activity is essential to help farmers meet their crops' water needs during periods of drought. This activity was conducted from November to December 2022 in Husok Village, Hubikiak District, Jayawijaya District, Papua Mountains. The implementation of this service activity will be implemented through the pilot project phase of the Kosabangsa program. This stage is divided into his three phases: the preparation phase, the activity phase, and the evaluation and monitoring phase. The results of the implementation of this community service activity were achieved based on the plans set and the tools made to function properly because they can accommodate and drain water to each holding tank in the middle of the land for watering the plants as well as being an alternative in providing clean water for farmer groups so they no longer have to walk far to take clean water. This is supported by community participation in accepting the technology made by the implementing team.

Abstract
