Abstract

Effective character education for the younger generation is crucial in facing global challenges in the future. By integrating local and global values, education can shape students who not only understand their cultural roots but are also ready to contribute positively to the global community. This study aims to explore innovative approaches in character education that combine local and global values to form a competent generation. The method used is a literature review, examining various educational strategies such as project-based learning, service learning, arts-based education, and technology. The results of the study show that the synergy between local and global values in education helps students develop social skills, empathy, and social justice. Additionally, this approach also prepares students to collaborate internationally, develop critical and creative thinking skills, and build adaptable character traits, making them ready to become responsible future leaders. Integrating these values in education will ensure a competent, open-minded, and globally prepared younger generation.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengevaluasi penerapan Metode Pomodoro dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar (PGSD) pada mata kuliah Perspektif Global. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan, dengan rata-rata nilai mahasiswa meningkat dari 71,2 pada siklus I menjadi 82,3 pada siklus IV. Observasi kelas dan kuisioner mengindikasikan bahwa 85% mahasiswa merasa lebih produktif dan mampu memahami materi kompleks dengan lebih baik setelah menerapkan metode ini. Selain itu, 90% mahasiswa melaporkan peningkatan keterampilan manajemen waktu. Meskipun terdapat keterbatasan dalam ukuran sampel dan durasi penelitian, temuan ini mendukung integrasi Metode Pomodoro dalam kurikulum pendidikan guru untuk meningkatkan literasi global. Penelitian lanjutan disarankan untuk menguji generalisasi temuan serta eksplorasi penerapan metode ini di konteks pendidikan lainnya.

Abstract

[Bahasa]: Pendidikan dasar di Indonesia cenderung memprioritaskan aspek akademik, sehingga pengembangan sosial emosional siswa masih kurang diperhatikan. Untuk mengatasi masalah ini, Program Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat yang berjudul "Pelatihan Penyusunan Pembelajaran Sosial Emosional (PSE)" dilaksanakan oleh tim PGSD FKIP Universitas Sriwijaya bagi guru SD di Kota Prabumulih. Program ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru dalam menyusun pembelajaran berbasis sosial emosional yang berperan dalam kesejahteraan dan perkembangan siswa. Metode yang digunakan adalah Participatory Action Research (PAR) melalui tiga pertemuan; pertemuan pertama dilakukan secara tatap muka, dan dua pertemuan berikutnya dilakukan secara daring. Setiap sesi melibatkan pemberian materi, diskusi, pembimbingan, serta presentasi modul ajar PSE yang disusun oleh peserta. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan pretest dan posttest untuk mengukur pemahaman peserta sebelum dan setelah pelatihan. Hasil menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pada seluruh indikator pemahaman, menandakan efektivitas pelatihan dalam meningkatkan keterampilan guru dalam menerapkan PSE. Kesimpulannya, program ini berhasil membantu para guru mengintegrasikan pendekatan sosial emosional dalam pembelajaran, yang diharapkan dapat membawa dampak positif pada kualitas pendidikan di Kota Prabumulih. Rekomendasi dari program ini adalah perlunya pelatihan berkelanjutan dan pendampingan penerapan PSE di kelas untuk memastikan implementasi yang konsisten dan maksimal. Kata Kunci: pembelajaran sosial emosional, pengabdian kepada mayarakat, pelatihan guru [English]: Primary education in Indonesia has historically prioritized academic aspects, resulting in limited attention to students' social and emotional development. To address this issue, an initiative within the Community Service Program titled "Social Emotional Learning (SEL) in Training Program" was conducted by the PGSD FKIP team from Universitas Sriwijaya for elementary school teachers in Prabumulih City. This program aimed to enhance teachers' knowledge and skills in developing SEL-based teaching, which plays a significant role in students' well-being and growth. The program utilized a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach through three sessions: a face-to-face first session followed by two online sessions. Each session included presentations, discussions, mentorship, and participants' presentations of SEL teaching modules they developed. Data collection was gathered using pretests and posttests to measure participants' understanding before and after the training. The results demonstrated improvement across all measured indicators, indicating the effectiveness of the training in enhancing teachers' skills in implementing SEL. This program successfully enabled teachers to integrate social-emotional strategies into their teaching practices, which is expected to positively impact educational quality in Prabumulih City. The program recommends ongoing training and support for SEL application to ensure consistency and optimal results. Keywords: social emotional learning, community service, teacher training

Abstract

Digital technology is increasingly reshaping children's socialization, and peer relationships now extend across both physical and virtual spaces. While previous studies have examined online behavior and digital literacy, there is a limited understanding of how elementary school children develop and negotiate social skills in these hybrid environments. Grounded in post-positivist philosophy, this qualitative case study investigates how children navigate digitally mediated peer interactions in two elementary schools in Palembang, Indonesia. The study involved 42 students, 12 teachers, and 15 parents. Collected data through semi-structured interviews, participant observations, and digital artifact analysis, and examined using thematic analysis. The findings reveal the emergence of digital empathy as a hybrid competence integrating emotional responses across online and offline settings. Digitally active students exhibited stronger collaborative problem-solving but tended to marginalize less active peers, while teachers' guidance in digital social interactions remained inconsistent. The study recommends integrating digital citizenship with social-emotional learning and strengthening teacher professional development. Future research should adopt longitudinal and cross-socioeconomic approaches to examine the evolution of digital social competencies and their impact on learning practices.
