Abstract

Soap is a material used for washing clothes, furniture, the body, etc. which is made from a mixture of alkali and triglycerides from fat. However, as time goes by, today's people are using ready-to-use sponges and washing soap in various forms and their respective advantages. Currently, many dishwashing soaps use herbal ingredients as their active substances. Coriander seeds and orange oil are herbal ingredients that can be used as antibacterial ingredients which can be used as active ingredients in making dishwashing soap. The village community's lack of knowledge regarding herbal ingredients and how to make dish soap has closed down business opportunities in Kopang Kebun Hamlet, Kemuning Lor Village, Arjasa District, Jember Regency. Therefore, village communities need training to process these herbal ingredients into products that are safe for the environment. The aim of this program for making liquid dish washing soap is to empower the women of Kopang Kebun Hamlet, most of whom are housewives, so that with this outreach, the community can make their own liquid soap to meet their daily needs and can also be used as a home industry.

Abstract

Kerusakan rambut akibat kebiasaan harian, lingkungan, dan kondisi kesehatan mendorong permintaan tonik penumbuh rambut yang aman, namun bahan sintetis seperti minoxidil berisiko menyebabkan alergi dan sakit kepala. Apigenin dari seledri (Apium graveolens L.) menjadi alternatif alami. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis perbedaan stabilitas siklik hair growth tonic ekstrak daun seledri konsentrasi 4%, 9%, dan 14%. Penelitian eksperimental kuantitatif pra-post test menggunakan tiga formula tonik 100 ml sebagai sampel purposif. Instrumen meliputi pH meter, viskometer, piknometer, dan SPSS 25 untuk uji normalitas Shapiro-Wilk diikuti uji Wilcoxon/T-paired (Sig >0,05). Hasil menunjukkan tidak ada perubahan signifikan parameter fisikokimia (karakteristik fisik, ketersebaran zat aktif, pH 3-7, densitas <1 g/ml) selama 6 siklus pada semua formula, meskipun konsentrasi 14% melebihi batas viskositas (7,7 cPs >5 cPs) siklus ke-3. Konsentrasi lebih tinggi menurunkan pH, meningkatkan densitas dan viskositas. Kesimpulannya, konsentrasi 4% dan 9% menunjukkan stabilitas siklik sangat baik, mendukung pengembangan kosmetik herbal.

Abstract

Background: Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is an acute febrile illness caused by dengue virus infection which is transmitted through the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. An alternative method that can be used is a vegetable larvicide to eradicate Aedes aegypti larvae. Basil leaf extracts (Ocimum basilicum) and soursop leaves (Annona muricata) contain flavonoids, saponins, alkaloids, tannins and essential oils as larvicide compounds. Purpose: This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the larvicidal combination of basil (Ocimum basilicum) and soursop (Nnona muricata) leaf extracts against Aedes aegypti larvae at concentrations of 5%, 10%, 15% and 20%. Methods: This type of research is descriptive quantitative research with an experimental design. This study used 6 samples of Aedes aegypti larvae at each concentration. The treatment stage was carried out by adding a combination of basil (Ocimum basilicum) and soursop leaf (Annona muricata) leaf extracts in concentrations of 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% into an Erlenmeyer flask containing larvae and distilled water. Calculate the number of deaths at 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours and 3 hours. Results: The results of this study showed larval mortality at a concentration of 5%, namely 0 larvae in 30 minutes, 1 larva in 1 hour, 2 larvae in 2 hours and 3 larvae in 3 hours. Larval mortality at a concentration of 10% is 1 larva in 30 minutes, 2 larvae in 1 hour, 3 larvae in 2 hours and 0 in 3 hours. Larval mortality at a concentration of 15% is 2 larvae in 30 minutes, 3 larvae in 1 hour, 1 larva in 2 hours and 0 larvae in 3 hours. Larval mortality at a concentration of 20% was 3 larvae in 30 minutes, 3 larvae in 1 hour and 0 larvae in 2 and 3 hours. Conclusions: The combination of basil (Ocimum basilicum) and soursop leaf (Annona muricata) leaf extracts is most effective as a larvicide at a concentration of 20% with a death time of 30 minutes.
