Abstract

Efforts to improve the quality of Integrated Science learning for junior high schools in the era of globalization that are following the challenges of 21st-century education can be done through the use of connected type interactive e modules. The study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of the e-module on students' mastery of energy concepts. The research method used is a descriptive quantitative quasi-experimental type with a matching-only pretest posttest control group design. The research was conducted in one of the public junior high schools in Bangkinang with a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using research instruments in the form of mastery of concepts in energy material. Data analysis was performed using pre-requisite test, statistical test (different test; t-test), and N-Gain test. The results obtained show that the use of the connected type of integrated science interactive e module can improve students' mastery of concepts on energy material in the experimental class with the medium category.

Abstract

This study aims to develop e-module teaching materials with the Moodle application on motion system materials. This e-module with the Moodle application has several advantages, namely learning is more interesting and can be done remotely where educators can still control learning and assessment activities, there are discussion forums and quizzes and has security features limiting access rights where unregistered users cannot open e-module. This research is a type of research and development (R&D). The procedure for developing this research uses the ADDIE development model, where this development model consists of 5 stages, namely Analysis (analysis), Design (design), Development (development), Implementation (implementation) and Evaluation (evaluation). The research instrument was a validation sheet and a respondent's questionnaire. The media validation stage involved 5 subjects (1 media expert, 1 material expert, 1 linguist, 1 pedagogic expert, and 1 teacher). Feasibility assessment by experts using validation sheets. The practical test phase involved 5 people, the simulation test involved 5 master students at the University of Riau majoring in biology and teachers and the limited trial involved 40 students. The data analysis technique is to calculate the percentage of validation assessment scores and user responses. The results showed that the Moodle based e-module developed met the very valid criteria with an average of 3.54, the practical aspect showed very practical with an average of 94.54, and the results of the student response test obtained a score of 96.4 with a very good category good. Based on the description above, it is concluded that the Moodle-based e-module that was developed can be a source of learning/teaching materials that can be used during learning because with the Moodle-based e-module the material presented is more interesting, educators can include videos, animations, pictures and learning can also be done remotely where educators can still control and evaluate students.

Abstract

This research aims to produce a valid and practical Socio-Scientific Issue (SSI) based student worksheet (LKPD) on grade VII science learning in junior high school. There are three issues discussed, namely the issue of Unlicensed Gold Mining (PETI) in Kuansing, the issue of waste and the issue of Forest and Land Fires (KARHUTLA). The development research method uses the Plomp model which consists of the preliminary research phase, the prototyping phase and the assessment phase. In the initial investigation phase, a needs analysis is carried out to see the importance of the issues used as the basis for the development of LKPD. The LKPD prototype manufacturing stage was designed based on SSI with validation by experts consisting of lecturers and teachers. Large group test assessment stage on 31 students to see the practicality of the prototype. LKPD validation results are very valid with an average score of 3.4, very practical with a score of 82.9% by the teacher and very practical 81.4% by students. It can be concluded that LKPD based on SSI is valid and practical to be applied in junior high school science learning.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Student Worksheet (LKPD) design for the topic of Biological Technology Innovation in Grade X of Senior High School through the enrichment of functional beverage production in the form of water kefir made from pineapple (Ananas comosus (L.) Merr.) with the addition of cinnamon and different types of sugar. The research was conducted from October 2024 to February 2025 at the Biology Education Laboratory, University of Riau. The method used was an experimental approach with a completely randomized design (CRD) in a factorial pattern consisting of two factors: types of sugar (granulated sugar and palm sugar) and cinnamon concentration (0%, 1%, and 3%), with each treatment replicated three times. The observed parameters included organoleptic and hedonic tests. The results showed that the best combination was found in the treatment using palm sugar and 10 grams of cinnamon (G2K1). This water kefir was preferred by the panelists due to its mild sourness and a balanced aroma of fermentation and cinnamon. The findings of this study were subsequently integrated into the LKPD design and validated by subject matter and media experts, indicating its feasibility as an instructional material for biotechnology learning in high school.

Abstract

The advancement of technology in education demands innovations in learning media that can enhance students’ motivation, interaction, and understanding. In the topic of the Human Immune System, students often struggle to grasp abstract concepts such as immune mechanisms, antigen–antibody interactions, and physiological responses, while learning facilities at school remain limited and lecture-based methods still dominate the learning process. iSpring Suite 11 offers a solution because it enables the development of interactive learning media that can be easily accessed via Android devices, equipped with materials, videos, animations, and quizzes, and can be flexibly distributed through QR Codes. This study aims to produce high-quality Android-based interactive learning media using iSpring Suite 11 and QR Codes for Grade XI students on the Human Immune System topic. The research employed the ADDIE development model with assessment instruments in the form of validation questionnaires and student response questionnaires using a Likert scale. Evaluations were conducted by material experts, media experts, and students during a limited trial stage. The results showed that the developed interactive learning media obtained an average quality score of 3.68, categorized as very good, covering aspects of content feasibility, appearance, interactivity, ease of use, and usefulness in supporting learning. Therefore, the Android-based media using iSpring Suite 11 and QR Codes is classified as having very good quality and is suitable for use in the learning process.

Abstract

The problem of acne (Acne vulgaris) is a common skin condition among adolescents and is generally triggered by the growth of Propionibacterium acnes. Various natural-based treatment alternatives have been developed to minimize the side effects associated with chemical agents. Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana L.) pericarp and ciplukan (Physalis angulata L.) leaves are known to contain diverse secondary metabolites such as xanthones, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, alkaloids, and triterpenoids, which have potential antibacterial properties. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of the combined extracts of mangosteen pericarp and ciplukan leaves against Propionibacterium acnes, as well as to develop the research findings into a poster design for the Innovation in Biological Technology learning material for Grade X SMA. The research employed an experimental method using 15 treatment variations of extract combinations. Antibacterial activity was tested using the disk diffusion method on Nutrient Agar medium. Observed parameters included extract yield, phytochemical screening, inhibition zone diameter, and macroscopic and microscopic observations of the test bacteria. The results revealed that both extracts tested positive for active antibacterial metabolites. The antibacterial activity of the extract combinations showed varying inhibition strengths, with several treatments categorized as weak to moderate. The best treatment, P9 (35% mangosteen extract + 35% ciplukan extract), produced a strong inhibition zone measuring 14.14 mm. These findings indicate that the combination of extracts exhibits a synergistic effect in inhibiting the growth of Propionibacterium acnes. The research findings were further developed into a poster design for the Innovation in Biological Technology material for Grade X SMA. Expert evaluations from media and material specialists indicated that the poster is feasible to use as an innovative, informative, and contextual learning medium. The combination of mangosteen pericarp and ciplukan leaf extracts has potential as a natural antibacterial agent for acne control.
