Abstract

Tuwung Village, Pulang Pisau Regency, possesses significant potential in the fisheries sector. However, the development of this sector is hindered by the reliance on expensive commercial fish feed, which limits profit margins from fish sales. Furthermore, organic waste generated from agricultural and livestock activities remains underutilized, posing a potential environmental pollution problem. To address these challenges, a training program on independent fish feed production utilizing organic waste and local resources has been implemented. This program aims to equip the KUPS Fisheries Group in Tuwung Village with the knowledge and skills to produce high-quality fish feed at a more affordable cost. Through this training, participants were introduced to the concept of utilizing household vegetable waste and motan fish from Lake Sabuah as alternative feed ingredients. Additionally, they received training in both conventional and mechanical fish feed production processes, employing a specially designed mixer unit. The program outcomes indicate that participants successfully grasped the concept of waste and local resource utilization and are now capable of producing fish feed independently. It is anticipated that this program will enhance the productivity and efficiency of fish farming businesses in Tuwung Village, while simultaneously mitigating the environmental impact of organic waste.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract SMK Kesehatan Muhammadiah is a pharmacy school that was founded in March 2017 and began accepting students at the beginning of the 2017/2018 academic year. As a new school, SMK Kesehatan Muhammadiyah has been accredited by the National Accreditation Board (BAN) in 2019. Acid-base matter is an important pillar in titration that is often found in the pharmaceutical field. However, the lack of learning resources, especially infrastructure, caused practicum in schools to not be carried out. The practicum obstacle that is often experienced is the limitation of chemical indicators because they are expensive. Several types of flowers such as shoe flowers, red asoka, red bougenville (paper flowers), purple datea flowers, and turmeric are extracted with ethanol, and then filter paper the size of litmus paper is macerated into the extract. After drying, it can be stored and used directly for the presentation of acid-base solutions. This service activity was attended by 22 students on January 26,2023 in the hall room of SMK Kesehatan Muhammadiah. The service activities provided are in the form of exposure to indicators and manufacture, characteristics of materials as natural indicators, demonstration, and guidance on making natural indicators. The results of the questionnaire showed the level of understanding of participants in the good category (76.5 %). This activity provides additional knowledge for students in the use of natural materials as a substitute for synthetic indicators.

Abstract

Biofouling commonly occurred due to the accumulation of bacteria that blocked membrane pores, especially in fungal-derived membrane technology. Surface modification of Cerrena caperata fungal membrane was carried out in this study to enhance its antibacterial activity, which can be expected to prevent biofouling on the membrane surface. This modification is crucial to ensure the ability of the membrane to inhibit or kill pathogenic bacteria during water purification, ultimately producing safer water in the future. The membrane was synthesized from C. caperata mycelium cultured in potato dextrose broth for 4 weeks. Two modification treatments were applied: 1) deacetylation with 50% NaOH and 2) coating the membrane surface with 1% stearic acid. Both unmodified and modified membranes were characterized using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy. Antibacterial activity was tested against Escherichia coli, Bacillus cereus, and Staphylococcus aureus. The results showed that the most effective treatment for improving the antibacterial activity of membranes was deacetylation with 50% NaOH for 90 min, it might be caused the structure transformation of chitin to chitosan which have ability for antimicrobial efficacy. This research is expected to highlight the potential of fungi as a natural and sustainable raw material in the production of filtration membranes that are not only effective in water purification but also safer for both the environment and human health.

Abstract

Stunting is defined as a disruption in a child's growth and development. The prevalence of stunting must be continuously reduced. Therefore, various efforts are being made, such as providing adequate nutrition. One food source that is high in protein and high in calcium is the seluang fish (Rasbora Argyrotaenia). The majority of residents living along the river in Palangka Raya earn their living as fishermen. This fish is widely found and sold in the market, making it quite affordable. To increase the market value of this fish, innovations have been made in processing seluang fish, namely by making seluang fish powder. The processing method involves boiling the fish in a pressure cooker, drying it in an oven, and then grinding it into a powder. The resulting fish powder is blackish in color and has a distinctive odor. Training on making fish powder was conducted for residents living along the river, attended by 30 residents, and the participants were very enthusiastic about the activity.
