Abstract

ABSTRACT          The World Health Organization (WHO) recorded as many as 2,299 cases of death with a case percentage of 66% during 2018 to 2020 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo due to the Ebola virus. Ebola virus is a member of the Filoviridae family. One of the viro cores consists of glycoprotein (GP). Messenger RNA (mRNA) generates long GP chains for the attachment protein (GP 1) and the fusion protein (GP 2). Epitope-based vaccines are a promising approach because epitopes represent immunogenic regions that elicit immunity specifically. Epitope prediction was performed based on the GP EBOV sequence available in the Data Bank. The designed vaccine could be one of the candidates for the Ebola virus vaccine. The design of the virus with access to NCBI AAB81004 was carried out by testing such as B cell epitope, T cell, and their antigenicity using the VaxiJen v2.0 server and IEDB. The T cell epitope prediction results showed that 20 T cell epitopes interacted with the Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) with the highest score of 2.8069. B cell epitope by linear BepiPred assay had 77 candidate epitope peptides from sequence 401-477. Karplus and Schulz's flexibility predictions showed a predictive value of 1.119 with a threshold of 1.008, with the analyzed area having an antigenic tendency where the threshold area was yellow. Keywords: Ebolavirus; Vaccine; Epitope B Cell; Epitope T Cell; In Silico

Abstract

The community in Habaring Hurung Urban Village, Bukit Batu District, Palangka Raya City, is grappling with the issue of accumulating household waste, primarily composed of organic waste. The prevalent practices of managing this waste, such as landfilling, burning, or haphazardly piling it around residential areas and roadsides, pose environmental and health risks. In response to this challenge, an initiative was undertaken to empower families in Habaring Hurung Urban Village through training sessions on creating disinfectants using eco enzymes derived from fermented organic waste. The method of implementing community service consists of the preparation stage, namely digging up information on training needs, and preparing materials and teaching aids; the implementation stage in the form of pre-final tests and training; and the last stage in the form of evaluation and reporting, took place on September 4, 2023, at the office hall of Habaring Hurung Urban Village. A total of 39 participants actively engaged in the training, displaying enthusiasm and a positive response. The results of the questionnaire also showed a fairly good level of satisfaction of all participants regarding the theme of the activity, the presentation was easy to understand, the participants' knowledge increased, and this activity should be continued by all participants where the percentage of participants who agreed showed a value of 56.4%. 51.3%, 66.7%, and 53% respectively. The ultimate goal of this initiative is to educate the local community on transforming organic waste into multifunction products for everyday use.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis community service activity aimed to strengthen human resource capacity through Green Human Resource Management (GHRM) and green innovation in the prospective Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih located in Tanjung Putri and Sei Ijum Raya Villages, Central Kalimantan. The activity adopted a participatory action research approach involving local communities in every stage, from identification to training evaluation. The program was designed through three integrated components: socialization on green innovation, training on GHRM, and green marketing practice. The training increased participants’ understanding of sustainable human resource management and environmental awareness. The pre-test and post-test results indicated an average knowledge improvement of more than 40 percent, showing a significant shift in participants’ behavior toward environmentally responsible practices. The integration of GHRM and green innovation proved effective in empowering coastal communities, strengthening village institutions, and encouraging the emergence of sustainable economic initiatives. This model demonstrates that environmentally-based capacity building can be replicated in other coastal villages to promote inclusive green and blue economy development.
